Here Today... Gone To Hell!

Why are we so faithful? Why do we care so much about Axl Rose?s new album? Although I speak only for myself, I think I have a few reasons.

I can relate to Axl?s music. Especially the more soul-searching songs from the illusion albums.?

Also, Axl Rose is the underdog. He?s such an soft-target and so many would love to see him fail. We want our anti-hero to win. It?s like in a Clint Eastwood movie, when the hero is all but defeated and like a beaten dog, but comes back and kills everyone and is the last man standing.

Honest to God, ?Chinese Democracy? is the one thing I am looking forward to in life, maybe more so than anything else.

Axl, if you?re reading this man, please release the album ASAP. The Axl-faithful need you so much. The world is just a little dimmer without you.

one reason is that there aren't a lot of good rock n' roll bands around these days.. most of the good ones are underground too. I just am hoping to hear some good quality music that is spread to the masses!!!

It definitely sounds and is nutty.  for hells sake dude, please don't use the word "us".? I am an Axl fan too, but I, like many of "us", don't consider him christ and live by the clock waiting for him to release something to give me a reason to live.

Because he insists on making a good album. Most other bands have put out at least one filler album, and Rose knows how much of a mistake TSI was. This is like his redemption.

Axl is fuckin' awesome in my world, I really love what he brings lyrical wise and performance wise, his songs are down right classics and can't match up to any other bands, that's a proven fact, just look at Sweet Child O' Mine, what a beautiful song, and so much soul was put into it...but all of his music has power behind it and I believe he's a true genuine one of a kind! I haven't seen him perform live before, but hope to hell someday I can!! ?:drool:
What a question though WHY do we love him? It's hard to really describe, I tried my best describing it as good as I can, but as a fan, it's just what he brings to us die hard gnr fans that makes us love him even more, he knows how to ROCK! ?:love:

A redemption for TSI?  TSI was released 12 years ago.  If he wanted to redeem himself he would have done it sooner.  It takes 12 yrs to make a good album?  This better be one fuck of a good album!!!!

reasons I am following him, I get angry at him so I am not blind loyalist.

He is a product of my youth and fronted my favorite band of all time.. He is a rock icon and an icon to me..

He's not your average kind of guy, his wackiness and mysterious ways keep me interested.. The name guns n roses (even though I don't view this as gnr) means the world to me and always will..
i stay around because I look forward to seeing the next chapter in axl rose.. Even though at times I feel he wasted some of his youth, and has even wasted time on this project..  I know whatever he does will be or should be good,... I still follow all the gunners new gnr-vr, but my excitment and ways aren't that same as say 1991

   I love this quote!  Can anyone find the exact quote?  That's priceless.  Also, I think the allure of Axl stems from his brutally open nature and all too honest lyrics an rants...along with the most kick-ass vocals and stage presence ever!  For instance, I had a buddy visiting who hasn't heard or seen anything GNR in about 5 years, and while playing Scrabble and Monopoly, I threw in the Chicago '92 show.  He was floored!  Of course, I had to be rather quick on the mute button because half-way through, my 2 year old son would run through.  Thank goodness mommy was there to whisk him away!  (but he does say "oh boy! whenever SCOM's opening comes on :) )   

   Axl's fans remind me of Howard Stern's.  Both men are brutally honest.  They freely admit they aren't the happiest people in the world.   These guys also fought hard to get to where they are today.  Neither one is a yes-man, and neither one bows down to authority.  No record company controls Axl, and no broadcast company controls Howard.  99.99% of people in this world are controlled by someone or something else, be it a company they work for, or in some ways a spouse they are married to...these guys are basically living the dream we all have deep down inside...."deep down inside," (sounds like the end of You aint the First)  :hihi:

I don't love Axl, I get off on the energy that fill the world around me as I listen to the vocals scream and wine with anger,hurt,love, or what Axl throws at the music. That I love.....   

im not impartial towards any of the members of gnr, but i think the great thing about Axl is that he hasnt released chinese democracy.

"What are you on?" is what you're saying now. but think about it. in a world where record companies force musicians into so many decision, choose which bands people listen to, sue 12 year olds and format cds so they only work on certain types of cd players (and in some cases aer designed to wear out fast), its a shining example that Axl is still saying "Fuck you, its not ready".

there is something spiritual about it, and universal, and raw, and potent and powerful. and real. it is amazing.
regardless of what axl himself is like, i don't really know i've never met the guy, but the things he creates, the energy, the life, the vitality, the strength, the vulnerability, in his music he has created something larger than himself. and that's something i think we have all connected with. i don't think the religious comparison is far fetched at all. music is spiritual, and in that respect, axl is my messiah.

Axl is never black or white he is always somewhere in the middle. He is a rockstar but at the same time he is a recluse. He has fame,money and success but at the same time he is fightin against his personal demons.He can perform like a madman and he can sing like he is spittin venom but at the same time i think he he feels insecure and fragile inside.i like him because he is multidimensional

Well I must admit, that I care about Axl, even when I dont know him, why?

Because, He has inspired me to do some great things in my life, such as , Learning English as once I told you,  -- yes it was some years ago, even when I havent completely dominated it-- There are some other things that Axl, and OLD Guns N' Roses, have, changed in my life, and inspired, that maybe if I had the time to write them, I would do it, anyway, I have spent 4 years of my life, developing some kind of logo, dedicated to Axl Rose, wich has some special meanings, I will soon post it in a special topic, wich will read... "My homenauge to Axl Rose" or something like that... anyway again, The world needs people like Axl Rose, to remind us that we can do whatever we want, with fear, normal emotions, and being successful, hated and loved at the same time...  I honestly dont know if Axl reads this kind of things, specially mine, but I believe,  he reminds the people -- the fans -- who once praised him and still do, as a Semi God,  some one as Honest, that he can fuck you off, if he wishes, in order to get what he wants....

Consider this...if Axl were like any of the "famous" MTVers out there...he would have had to play the game. He would have had to become so distorted by image and PR that Axl Rose would look more like all the other crappy eighties bands.

Here's the thing...Axl was so violent, violitle and down right humanistic that we could all relate in some way. He appealed to some primitive instincts that all of us have. These are not always good instincts/emotions...but I'll be damned if they weren't real. Jessica Simpson rolling around her billion dollar mansion or Gwen Staffani talking about holla back girls is hardly something we can all relate to. These are "artists" singing about their lifestyles, not their emotions.

The masses are not appealled by this kind of specialized niche picking that most pop stars of today are exploiting. This is not to say that Axl won over all the key demographics either...but he won over a lot of them.

When Axl got rich and famous...he either changed what he was all about...or he decided that being in the spotlight all the time wasn't his gig. You can't expect the man to give up the money though...would you?

These songs that Axl may or may not release on Chinese Democracy have an element of this niche picking going on in them in the fact that he isn't singing about drugs, sex and alcohol anymore (atleast the small sample we've seen so far). He does explore other rhealms which are equally relatable but take a bit more thought. A more mature, but equally volitile Axl Rose.

The problem is...somewhere during this maturity process...he lost way.

I disagree.  While I think he's definitely one of the greatest frontmen of all time, he's not Guns n' Roses.  I guess he is, in a way, because he's retained the name, and he's the only one left.  But GnR had many people behind him that were just as much GnR and helped found the band, and whom I would consider to have been Guns N' Roses, along with Axl.   

hhmmm let me count the ways i love axl lol.lets start with the toes and then ankles then knees then hmmm hips yeah you thought i was gonna say  ''cock'' lol naaa really it's the raw talent of his singing that got me first.going further up you get the brains axl has in that head of his.thats a plus even with the hot body he has ! but really id go with raw talent really i would.he just gets me in a good mood lisening to him sing.

As much as I hate to conform I have to agree with alot of opinions on this one.  The lyrics Axl wrote back in the day definitely hit the mark and meant alot to me when I was growing up.  I could identify with the majority of it.  That coupled with the controversy and the mystery are the things that legends are made of.  And watching a guy go from nothing to legendary status in about five years is something you don't see very often.

I just hope that there are enough old gunners running around that still care enough to make Chinese Democracy worth the lifetime of shit that's culminated in Axl's life - assuming of course it eventually sees the light of day.  And finally, I'd love to see Axl standing tall atop the pile of shit that is the rock music industry of today.
