Why two heads are better than one

IT IS every guitarist's dream - and a snip at just ?33,000.

The most expensive production guitar in the world arrived in Cambridge on Thursday.

US-based Paul Reed Smith guitars makes exclusive instruments which normally go for not less than ?3,000 new and are picked by the world's top players. Customers include Guns 'n Roses' Axl Rose and Fred Durst, from Limp Bizkit.

Great, more bad press for Axl. Being put in the same story, let alone sentence with Fred is never a good thing.  :P

Wonder why Axl would have bought this?

Oh yea, the guitar that he played at RIR during "The Blues" was a PRS. : ok:

I hate PRS.  They are overpriced pieces of sheot.  He would use Les Pauls, but that is what Slash plays, so he doesn't want to use anything Slash would use.  Maybe Axl is the third guitarist?

He looked like an idiot and I don't even think it was plugged in.

how could you possibly know if it was plugged in or not?! Gimme a break, he played to give that part of the song a "fuller" sound almost like having a chorus effect going on. And why did he look like an idiot? he was just jamming away with the rest of the band.

I agree about the look, but I'm sure I can't hear his guitar on the sound mix. I dunno why, but the mix in this whole show was really poor.

how can you tell? I just watched it and the band waits to play the instruments until Axl is ready to go. It looks to me like he is just playing the bassline with tommy, there is not much else going on there (Guitars I mean) other than the bassline and Buckethead's solo. Why wait for Axl to get set with the guitar if he's not playing it? That's all I'm saying, he doesn't do anything crazy but he must be playing SOMETHING.  ::)

Uuhh, oh yea ;)? Yea he did look a little outside his element playing that axe.  But hey, it's been many years since we've seen him play on the illusions tours.  you never know, he might shred!

Some would say that LPs are now over-priced pieces of shit.  Their studio models suck.  To get a good LP, you gotta spend over 3K to get a decent one.  My opinion, no guitars are worth that much. Including PRS.

But to me, a PRS is just living off of what Les Paul created and they claim theirs is better.  I am glad Gibson sued PRS and that why PRS no longer makes the single cut aways.  Like the Tremonti model.  Also the knob is not as easy to use as the Les Paul.  Also the distance between the two pickups is too close so they can fit some more frets on that NO ROCK guitar player really uses.  Its like the people I know that have PRS have some bull shit  attitude about how great they are, and I just look at my standard knowing that I have the original.  I don't know, I just have a soft spot for Les Pauls.  To mean, they are the definitive Rock n Roll guitar.   PRS is mainly loved by nu metal, with the exception of Santana.   He is a bad ass.  Back to Axl, he looked clueless.  I can't hear his guitar either.  I am sure he was playing, but what he played was awfully insignificant, in that mix anyway.  He should leave guitar playing up to guitar players, unless he is really good, which I doubt.  I hope Axl never sings and plays the guitar at the same time.  It would really hurt his stage presance.  It may keep him from running out of breath though.  Just a thought.

Picture Slash singing while rocking out on a mike stand banging his head with no guitar.  Maybe now you see my point.  When you are Axl Fucking Rose, nobody cares to hear your "chops" or lack there of.  Just be Axl Rose.  However, I do like Dead Horse.  In that environment, I don't mind.  Now he just looks like a hip hop singer trying to look musical by holding a guitar.  By the way, the rest of the band was playing guess what......LES PAULS.

No I don't see your point.. Axl WAS playing guitar. Do you have evidence to the contrary?

Ya, he was moving his arm.  Put I did not hear anything.  Look, we all know Axl can play.  Question is, do we want to hear it.  Sometimes Mick plays.  Sometimes Sammy plays.  Sometimes Roger Daultry plays.  Heck, even Mercury played some.  But do you need 4 guitar players, or is that overkill?

Just because YOU didn't hear it, it doesn't mean he wasn't playing.

Axl didn't even continue playing guitar on this song during the other dates. It was a one-off, something different he obviously wanted to do.. a bit of fun... no big deal.

Maybe some singers just feel more comfortable when holding a guitar for certain songs, even if just strumming a few chords?

I gotta say PRS sucks though, overpriced "gotta be different" guitars, funny how most people who play these can hardly play actually.

But if he likes it, why not?

Well fuck he could just play a fucken doubleneck or a banjo for fucks sake I don't care as long as he would just play fuckin' concerts at all again!

lol!  Wait til next show.. Chris is gonna do a keyboard solo just so the abuse will stop!   :hihi:
I can see it now:  The entire band leaves the stage.  Chris comes front and center.  Someone rolls out a keyboard in front of him center stage.  Spotlight on Chris.  Then spotight switches to spotlight on the plug.  Big screen displays zoom in on plug.  Text in huge letters comes up on screen.  It reads:  "IT'S PLUGGED IN!"
Spotlight switches back to Chris who is grinning at the crowd.  Then the spotlight swiches quickly to the plug again.. .and we see Dizzy playing like he was about to unplug it... but when the spotlight hits him he stops "in his tracks" and grins at the camera and shrugs.  Spotlight back to Chris who is shaking his finger at the crowd :hihi: Then Chris drops a kick ass keyboard solo on us.  : ok:

Well fuck he could just play a fucken doubleneck or a banjo for fucks sake I don't care as long as he would just play fuckin' concerts at all again!

I'm with you on that statement conny.

But it would be kickass to hear Axl play the guitar.

Actually I played a guy's PRS custom 24 at a show a while back, and it was one of the most comfortable guitars I've ever played. Granted I'd take mine that I built over it, but i have everything the way i want it. Worth the 2800 the guy spent on it though? Nah, not really.

Good for Axl, he should have the best, he the best in the business. That's why he gets the big bucks.

I think it usually true that two heads are better than one and bands are better than solo musician.
but 2heads on a same body looks rather ungainly. Is the w-necker originally Jimmy Page's invention?
Hello Kitty fender looks much normal.

Maybe I missed this.  Was Pittman's keyboard really not plugged in?

Oh shit. I was convinced it was wireless. Like my keyboard and mouse. :hihi:

How can I tell? Easy, I used my ears. He indeed played the bassline, though. But his guitar was not in the mixin'.

Also, the band  didn't "wait" for Axl or anything. This "brake" was just part of the song, as you can hear in every other performance of the Madagascar.
