This post wasn't meant as a diss to Axl, really. Just something for shits and giggles while we wait for "Chinese Democracy."

I've never heard that comment from Metallica but if it's true it has to be the most idiotic thing they ever said.

I know this isn't supposed to be a terribly serious thread, but really, what common points does Axl have with Nero? And Louis the XVIth? Please enlighten me. 

I think Metallica said that on the VH1 behind the music show. I think Axl and Nero are both kinda crazy and decedent. Louis XVIth? Gee, I don't know, I just threw that one out there...Just a joke thread really. But I am hoping some people could think up some examples.

But Axl does remind me of Nixon--I started a thread about that some time ago...

  Axl's multi-faceted and can be compared in some way, shape, or form to all the above.

  How about Michael Jordan?  Announced retirement on 10/6/93....Activated from retirement on 3/18/95....Announced retirement on 1/13/99....Activated from retirement on 9/25/01....Retired 2 years later. 
  Axl took the long break performing between '93 or '94 to '00 or '01, then stopped again in late '02, only to resume in..................................?????????????
M.J. was still dropping 20 points per game as a 40 year-old.  I expect no less from Axl.

Give Richard Nixon a break! I don't really understand the point in posting if you have nothing valid to say really. It's ok to critize the thread, but we don't need 15 people to say the thread sucks. We get the point.

As for the topic itself, I don't think it's a bad thread at all. Sure the historical figures chosen are not appropiate nor have nothing to do with Axl (I have to say though, it looks like some of the names there are just chosen randomly with no logic - Franco being one of them...Does a fascist dictator remind you of Axl?)

As for Howard Hughes...well, we've all read in many articles the comparission with Axl. Stanley Kubrick I don't think he's that far off either. I think Tolkien could be a good comparission, both were reclusive, brilliant, obscure, mysterious...both were responsible for two trilogies ?:)

Axl reminds just Axl he is a unique person with his own carisma, he shouldn't be compared or be simbolized as someone that had already lived, weather he is a good historical person or bad one.
Every person is unique in their own style and should've been remember as that.  :peace:
