Sept. 18

Sorry my peeps for being so out of touch. Been working on a few
different things that have kept me slightly in over my head.

First off, I've been writing songs and music for a movie called
Catch and Release with Jennifer Garner for Sony Pictures. It's taken
me a few years to land one of these and I'm stoked to be doing it.
I'm told the movie will come out next spring.

Also been working on finishing the Bobot Adrenaline record. This has
been a labor of love that's been going on since last summer and I'm
just about done mixing it.

And lastly, but not at all leastly, I've been learning some Soul
Asylum songs for a show in N.Y.C on Oct.26th at the Bowery Ballroom.
Yep, I'll be filling in for Karl. I'm told he would have wanted it
this way so this is for him as well as Danny, Dave and Mary Beth. At
the moment, that's all I know for certain.

I'm told there may be news on the GNR front coming soon, but til
it's formal and written in at least pencil my lips are sealed.

Well Tommy said there could be news soon, and Fortus has cancelled his Nov Dates with Nena, so something must be up.

see and everyone thinks that the members of GNR are just sitting around and doing nothing......on retainer from Axl.

Glad to see Tommy has been busy doing other things outside of GNR. ?Just shows you that Axl has some real quality members that are diversified.

I'd guess it's either news regarding the album or an announcement that GNR is playing Rock In Rio V this coming spring.

The best news would be an album release date, a tour date, RIR5, and they will be on the DVC soundtrack. Yes I am that greedy.

Seemingly GN'R members are experienced in doing movie music.  ;)

And  I for the first time see any update about GN'R on a member's official site.

Besides, knowing that band members are keeping themselves busy is always a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

Not really a tommy fan but I can appreciate his hard work.. he has so much going, to think all these creative days by the members could be on newer gnr songs instead of all outside work... Sucks he doesn't even know and can only say maybe or soon he hopes

Thanks for the update Tommy. Although the update didn't say too much about GN'R, it comlpetely describes the current situation. I prefer this kind of update over any misleading, hype-creating updates.

It's better than no updates at all.

I was just saying that getting an update like this from any band member is far better than getting nothing or getting a "the show has been cancelled" update.

But I think the people who constantly whine about the lack of updates aren't really whining about the lack of updates. There's only one kind of update they really want and that's a release date. Nothing else will make them happy I guess.

Actually, I wonder if even that would make them happy....  :hihi:

I would love to catch that Soul Asylum gig at the Bowery. That is a pretty intiment place to catch a gig. I seen Marc Olson and Gary Louris there back in March. I hope Stinson plays bass on the new SA record, he really fits the mold for Soul Asylum.

Once upon a time, I read a statement.  It was over a year ago, and this man named Tommy Stinson said " CD is just hairs breath away".!! :beer:

Actually,  this goes to show that it is only a paycheck that is the concern here in,  years later, the 'what are you going to do with yourself, be Bob Dylan?'  approach.

i work for a company that produces console games. we've just finished a product that has a release date of late November. we've just had to rush it through to get the game into production on time (disc/box production) the actually game and all artwork is finished but to get that late november release date the product had to go to the manufacturer yesterday. the european shop orders of over 2 million were completed long ago.

now i know that console game production and music CD production are very different and maybe there's a way to rush CD prodution and distibution through quicker than for computer games..... BUT on the basis of what i have experienced (many times!) unless shops already have an order for 'Chinese Democracy' and some warehouse is producing the discs now, then it won't be out before december. And if it is to be released this year then they've only got a few weeks before they'll have to start all that. And if shops did have orders on for CD then we'd probably have heard about it by now.

don't want to put a downer or anything, and like i say it may be quicker in the world of music - but my experience of games is that the disc production takes a couple of months from finished product to release date.

What would the timetable be for a February '06 release? I think that's what we're probably looking at...

November announcement... Saying GNR will play RIR05 and releasing C.D in early 2006... (i hope)
