Title: VR Unplugged Post by: tippasaurus on September 10, 2005, 04:11:28 PM I was listening to "Slither" unplugged today and I was thinking, MTV revived "Unplugged" for Alicia Keys, why not VR? (I know, I know...no one will watch watch anything rock oriented on MTV, but perhaps VH1 since it's owned by MTV anyways). So what do you think would be a good unplugged setlist? ...and be sure to consider what VR would be likely to play, suffice to say they won't play "Estranged" or something like that.
Here's what I'd like to see (realistically): 1. Set Me Free 2. Angie (Rolling Stones cover) 3. Voices (Cheap Trick cover) 4. Loving the Alien 5. Come In, Come On 6. Tears in Heaven (Clapton cover) --- kinda obvious selection, but they've done it before so...I could see it again. 7. Headspace 8. Fall To Pieces 9. Sex Type Thing (STP cover) 10. Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd cover) 11. You Got No Right 12. Mr. Brownstone (Gn'R cover) 13. Slither I figure VH1 or MTV would only air maybe 5 of those out of this entire set, but it'd be cool if VR would do a mini acoustic club tour w/ a similar set like this. Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: Malcolm on September 10, 2005, 04:45:40 PM I think thats a very cool idea man..Im sure it would be a huge hit..
Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: W. Botaxl Rose on September 10, 2005, 06:04:47 PM I'm hoping they do this after the release of the 2nd album so there's more material to choose from. However, Mr. Brownstone MUST be included if this ever happens. An official release of the set, if it were to occur, would be nice as well.

Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: electricmage on September 10, 2005, 08:22:15 PM Interstate Love Song and Used to Love Her also? : ok: I think they would stick to songs they wrote together. They would probably catch some flak for doing songs that Gn'R and STP originally did. Kinda like they are haning onto the past a little bit. Seeing these songs played live is awsome, but on tv... Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: Genesis on September 11, 2005, 05:21:32 AM However, Mr. Brownstone MUST be included if this ever happens. Mr. Brownstone unplugged? Unlikely, but it would be really cool if they do it. : ok:Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: Mikkamakka on September 11, 2005, 05:25:36 AM However, Mr. Brownstone MUST be included if this ever happens. BTW Interstate Love Song was so great on the KOOQ that they should play it more often. Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: W. GNR then played a classic version of Mr Brownstone unplugged at some radio party back in the day. So, why would it be so strange for VR to include it in an unplugged performance, considering it seems to be the GNR song they've adopted into their set (along with ISE). Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: Shoco on September 11, 2005, 10:05:20 AM id love to see them do it, itd be pretty cool, tho there are a lot of covers in your setlist

Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: Shoco on September 12, 2005, 12:03:29 PM yeah but id still rather see them do theyr own stuff
Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: purplehaze1988 on September 12, 2005, 01:42:08 PM Interstate Love Song and Used to Love Her also? : ok: yeah they played them on k-rock and sounded really good. they also played slither acoustic which i thought was great. Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: tomass74 on September 12, 2005, 07:41:24 PM I think it would be fucking awesome but not yet.. They definately need some more material.. I think alot of their songs would transfer over to acoustic very nice. Slither sure did... Then they could do a Gn'R and STP tune and maybe a Zeppelin or Aerosmith song or something.

I THINK that's the same performance they first did One in a Million and an early version of Patience at...along with Move to the City, I think. Or am I way off? Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: W. Botaxl Rose on September 16, 2005, 03:56:34 PM Yes, that's the "show?" Used to Love Her was also played that fateful day.

Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: deliverthecow on September 16, 2005, 07:29:44 PM The acoustic version of 'Interstate Love Song' is killer. Always liked that song. The version of 'Used To Love Her' ffrom the same radio show is pretty good to , if you listen close enough Duff fucks up the words near the end, kinda funny. I really didn't like the acoustic version of 'Slither' all that much. I would like to hear them do an all acoustic version of LTA, that would be damn good. I really didnt appreciate that song much after the album was released but it maybe my favorite song off Contraband at the moment.

Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: Carlos_f_Rose on September 24, 2005, 12:45:07 PM They should play, songs that can be translated to the unplugged without harming their integrity, I would not like to listen to a Set me free unplugged version, or even a slither version, maybe the softer ones, and maybe 2 or 3 original songs.. :P
Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: Rob on September 25, 2005, 02:29:42 AM Another obvious but good choice would be Dead Flowers.
Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: Mikkamakka on September 25, 2005, 09:03:36 AM Another obvious but good choice would be Dead Flowers. If they do covers I want them to play new ones, I mean not the same songs they covered in GN'R. Title: Re: VR Unplugged Post by: Jizzo on September 28, 2005, 09:20:48 PM they already covered dead flowers
