Title: SRS WOW Sound technology on Chinese Democracy?
Post by: nesquick on August 16, 2005, 07:14:50 PM
I remember years ago I read an article and something intrigued me a lot: I remember I read Axl wanted THE BEST sound resolution system and technology for Chinese Democracy, it kinda intrigued me a lot. I read he spent a lot of money for that, buying very expensive material at the top of the techhnology. I found a very interesting website on that sound technology systeme take a look http://www.srslabs.com/demonstrations.asp

quote "WOW is a special combination of SRS audio technologies that creates a thrilling immersive sound experience with deep rich bass from mono or stereo sound sources. Your audio sounds fuller, richer and wider. Based on the elements of the flagship SRS 3D technology, WOW restores the spatial cues and ambient information that is lost during standard stereo playback. It includes TruBass, a patented bass enhancement technology that offers a dramatic improvement in bass tones that are often lost during compression or are unable to be delivered by small speakers. "

Demonstration: http://www.srslabs.com/demonstrations.asp# (Listen to the Aguilera demonstration- 128k - the difference is impressive)

Could explain the cost in production (i guess it's very expensive), could also explain the delay, could be interesting to get such an amazing sound quality for Chinese Democracy.
By listening old GN'R records, I didn't hear that technology,? could it be a key concerning "the next step" in term of production for a GN'R record?

Appetite - very raw sound
UYI - Stereo sound
CD - SRS wow sound?

I think democracy is only going to be released on 8-track.

Windows media player also uses WOW, so i dont think it is expensive. Maybe if you bought the equipment yourself it is, but you could use WOW during mastering for little cost.
