Title: Official Nickelback Thread
Post by: Malcolm on August 06, 2005, 10:29:53 AM
NICKELBACK's new album, "All the Right Reasons", features a tribute to slain PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrrell Abbott in the shape of the track "Side of a Bullet".

"All the Right Reasons" is scheduled for release on October 4 via Roadrunner Records.

NICKELBACK had previously collaborated with Abbott on a cover of ELTON JOHN's classic song "Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)", which appeared on the soundtrack to the movie "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle". The track also features the vocals of Kid Rock.

There current single is Photograph and was just released to radio...Its a pretty good tune but ive always preffered there heavier rock tunes such as Breathe and Do This Anymore

Jon Wiederhorn of MTV.com is reporting that a previously unreleased solo by late PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN guitarist Dimebag Darrell will appear this fall in an unlikely place: on NICKELBACK's new album, "All the Right Reasons". The guitar parts for the flailing, 24-second lead were donated by Darrell's brother, drummer Vinnie Paul, and assembled from outtakes from the PANTERA albums "Vulgar Display of Power" and "Far Beyond Driven".

The song, a tribute to Darrell titled "Side of a Bullet", was written three months after the guitarist was killed while performing onstage with DAMAGEPLAN in Columbus, Ohio. NICKELBACK mainman Chad Kroeger first penned the song's aggressive, metallic riff, then wrote call-and-response lyrics from the perspective of a PANTERA fan so enraged over Dimebag's murder that he vows revenge, not realizing the shooter had already been killed by a policeman.

"I was very upset, and for two months, if I saw his picture somewhere I would get angry," Kroeger told MTV.com. "I hadn't lost somebody to a shooting before ? it wasn't as though he'd been killed in some sort of accident. He was taken in such a horrible, malicious way that just made it more painful."

Once Kroeger finished demoing "Side of a Bullet", he called up Paul and played it to him to get his take on the tune. Paul liked what he heard and urged Kroeger to write lyrics about Dime. "I said, 'Well, funny enough, that song is about your brother,' " Kroeger recalled.

Paul volunteered to play on the song, so Kroeger overnighted him the tape and encouraged him to record a new drum track over the one played by NICKELBACK drummer Daniel Adair. "He thought about it for a while," Kroeger said, "then he decided that Daniel had done such an amazing job that we should leave it the way it was. That's when he sent the guitar parts from 'Vulgar Display of Power' and 'Far Beyond Driven', which we used for the solo."

I use to absolutely hate this band BUT, I was reading my book last night and had VH1 on in the background and "Photograph" came on, this song made me feel something that music hasnt made me feel in a long time.

I bought this song on Walmart.com just now and I think its one of the best and original songs ive heard in a long time.

/\ I noticed the Bon Jovi quote in your sig, and it's interesting - I really think that "Photograph" sounds exactly like "Livin' on a Prayer" 2005 style, and shares a lot in common with Bon Jovi's general lyrical style.

Just a thought...

I didnt expect too much from their new CD, but after listening to a friends copy I have to admit it's a pretty good effort. Although I expect Kid Rock will be pissed that they stole his routine for the song "Rockstar"

Bought their new album purely for Dimebag's solo on Side of a bullet - buying an entire album for one solo - its the kind of daft thing u can do when ur young

Didn't expect anything from this album - but animals, photograph and side of a bullet are awesome. Seems a very strong offering, didn't buy their last album but own their first three albums - probably their best, some fine riffs.

Top notch

They suck. They suck very badly. There's a site out there, I wish I could find it, but it plays two Nickelback songs at once. One comes thru the right speaker, the other thru the left and it's done to show you..all their songs are exactly the same.

By the way, Photograph sucks too. The drummer's family is from my hometown, so on top of the fact their Canadian and because of CRTC rules, they get played incessantly on the radio, it gets times by two because the city feels like we are part of Nickelback. Again, they suck. Awful, awful band.

All the songs are the same eh? Strange, I have 4 of their albums and the difference is very marked, maybe u need to listen a bit closer?

Virtually all bands churn out the same kinda style over and over again - i bet ur a fan of AC/DC or Motorhead too:hihi:

Their latest album has to be their best, though Silver Side up is a tough one to beat - just love the song 'animals', brilliant

Well I went to see Nickelback,Live and Danko Jones on the 15th..I seen Nickelback on the last tour and they were great..One of my fav bands..Danko Jones was mearly ok..Live was fucking amazing..One of my fav bands now..IMO they stole the show..Last time I seen Nickelback they wrre on there 3rd album and they played for 90 minutes...Now on there 4th they only played for 75...And did this stupid t-shirt cannon thing..cool jam chad played during it but was pointless.I guess maybe since rthere t-shirts were 55 bucks they should send a few out for free...Anwyays for the time they were on they absolutely rocked..opened with Animals and huge pyro and was really good..but didnt play my fav song Rockstar in the encore which we only got one song..theyd been playing it almost everynight but left it out..according to the fans they had colds..Who the fuck cares..there from Canada..they know how to deal with colds...If they wanan make it as a real live band theyve gotta toughen up and pay there dues...Play an extra song in the encore instead or realying on ur pyro to carry the show..anywyas other then the lack of songs it was a great show and Live definetly stole it

The toronto crowd was also outstanding and gave them everything they had

Nickelback returning for summer dates

Nickelback is heading back out on the road in North America, launching a summer tour on June 28th in St. Johns, Newfoundland, which will take the quartet through its native Canada, the U.S. Northeast and the Midwest. The trek comes to a close on July 30th in Alberta, Canada. Staind, Daughtry, Hinder, Finger Eleven and Puddle Of Mudd are opening selected shows, with opening acts on many of the dates yet to be announced. Frontman Chad Kroeger told us that even people who aren't Nickelback fans have a good time at the band's concerts: "One of our favorite things is when we read something like, you know, 'Wasn't a fan, went to the show, truly, truly entertained.' Converting people every single night is just a great feeling."

Nickelback has raised over $500,000 for Amnesty International and International Children's Awareness Canada through digital sales of the band's single and video, "If Everyone Cared." The Canadian quartet, along with its label, distributor and publishing company, donated 100 percent of the proceeds from the song to both organizations since its release.

"If Everyone Cared" is the sixth single from Nickelback's 2005 album, All The Right Reasons, which has sold more than five million copies in the U.S.

Nickelback will perform at the second annual VH1 Rock Honors, which will be taped on May 12th in Las Vegas. This year's show will honor Ozzy Osbourne, Heart, Genesis and ZZ Top, with performances and tributes from Queens Of The Stone Age, Alice In Chains, Keane and others. The show premieres on VH1 on May 24th.

Confirmed Nickelback tour dates:

my problem with them is that they made a great album "the long road" the one with someday on is it?

and then they churn out the shittest album after to follow it up with.

Concert Review: Nickelback
Saddledome, Calgary - July 26, 2007

CALGARY - No matter how you feel about Nickelback, you gotta give the Hanna rockers credit for knowing exactly how to please their fans.

Whether it's putting out yet another slow-at-the-start-heavy-on-the-chorus radio chart-topper or dropping more f-bombs in concert than any other touring band, their formula is working.

They came close to selling out not just one, but two Saddledome shows this week, an astounding feat considering they are still touring on their 2005 CD All The Right Reasons, which brought them through town just last year.

In fact, the latest Nickelback tour is much like the last one and the one before that -- a loud, high-energy rock fest right out of Rock Concerts For Dummies.

There were three huge video screens, flash powder, smoke, fireworks, falling sparks, fireballs and, of course, a catwalk off the front of the stage. Basically, if they make it, Nickelback had it.

And, their local devotees loved it all.During the opening pyrotechnic-filled track Animal, frontman Chad Kroeger took time out from singing to ask the crowd, "Are we gonna have a good f-ing time?" According to the response of deafening screams and whistlers, we were.

From there, the concertgoers ate up everything the band baby-fed them from their catalogue of hits.

Among them was the metal offering Because of You, the cheese-topped Photograph, the easy-to-swallow Far Away and the sing-along desert Rock Star.

Standout moments, offering a break from the predictable tunes, included a touching performance of If Everyone Cared, which played as images of Nelson Mandela flashed on the screen, and a Kid Rock-less cover of Elton John's Saturday Night's Alright.

Then, if everyone wasn't having enough junior high fun already, Nickelback broke out the air cannons and shot merchandise into the bleachers.

Much like the rest of the show, the rock star cliche was encouraged by the room, which roared, howled, shrieked and yelped for every confection in Nickelback's bag of sugary treats.

Vancouver-based State of Shock and Missouri's Puddle Of Mudd started the whole thing off with well-received short sets before former American Idol-turned-rock-star Chris Daughtry took the stage.

The bald, buff singer was greeted by high-pitched screams, normally reserved for well-marketed boy bands and George Clooney.

He seemed to revel in the attention, playing the part of a modern-day heartthrob to a tee with his over-sexed slow stage moves and gradual striptease down to a tank top.

Much like Nickelback, Daughtry knows how to play to the masses.

The band's debut is the best-selling CD of 2007 and it was clear from the hundreds of voices singing along to set highlights It's Not Over and Home, many at the 'Dome have it in their collection.

The challenge is getting people to buy the next one and that is where Daughtry may fail. His stage show needs work as it comes across looking like his just going through the motions.

Anyone who can defend a band with shitty lyrics such as these must either be partially deaf or have absolutely bad taste in music.

Quote the shitty Nickelback lyrics, nevermore:

From underneath the trees, we watch the sky
Confusing stars for satellites
I never dreamed that you'd be mine
But here we are, we're here tonight

Singing Amen, I, I'm alive
Singing Amen, I, I'm alive

[Chorus:]
If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
Then we'd see the day when nobody died

And I'm singing

Amen I, Amen I, I'm alive
Amen I, Amen I, Amen I, I'm alive

And in the air the fireflies
Our only light in paradise
We'll show the world they were wrong
And teach them all to sing along

Singing Amen, I, I'm alive
Singing Amen, I, I'm alive
(I'm alive)

[Chorus x2]

And as we lie beneath the stars
We realize how small we are
If they could love like you and me
Imagine what the world could be

If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
Then we'd see the day when nobody died
When nobody died...

[Chorus]

We'd see the day, we'd see the day
When nobody died
We'd see the day, we'd see the day
When nobody died
We'd see the day when nobody died

--------------------
I mean honestly shit........what does being in love have to do with dying in the first place?? If everyone cares then no one will die?? What the fuck kind of stupid lyrics are these?? What about the people that die from pancreatic cancer?? I bet they'd find this song truly offensive.

Dark Horse is co-produced by Nickelback and famed rock producer Mutt Lange (AC/DC, Def Leppard).

Nickelback plans to embark on a worldwide tour in 2009

There new song 'Gotta Be Somebody' is absolutely amazing...It's very mainstream so I know alot of fans wont like it, but you gotta hand it to them, they keep coming out with huge hits...This is easily one of my new favourite songs

Nickelback - Gotta Be Somebody Lyrics

This time, I wonder what it feels like
To find the one in this life, the one we all dream of
But dreams just aren?t enough
So I?ll be waiting for the real thing, I?ll know it by the feeling
The moment when we?re meeting, will play out like a scene
Straight off the silver screen
So I?ll be holding my own breath, right up ?til the end
Until that moment when, I find the one that I?ll spend forever with

Cause nobody wants to be the last one there
Cause everyone wants to feel like someone cares
Someone to love with my life in their hands
There?s gotta be somebody for me like that
Cause nobody wants to do it all on their own
And everyone wants to know the night alone
There?s somebody else that feels the same somewhere
There?s gotta be somebody for me out there

Tonight, out on the street, out in the moonlight
And dammit this means too right, it?s just like deja vu
Me standing here with you
So I?ll be holding my own breath, could this be the end
Is it that moment when, I find the one that I?ll spend forever with

Cause nobody wants to be the last one there
Cause everyone wants to feel like someone cares
Someone to love with my life in their hands
There?s gotta be somebody for me like that
Cause nobody wants to do it all on their own
And everyone wants to know the night alone
There?s somebody else that feels the same somewhere
There?s gotta be somebody for me out there

You can?t give up, looking for a (diamond did erupts??)
The wind shows up, make sure you?re holding on
Cause it could be the one, the one you?re waiting on
Cause nobody wants to be the last one there
And everyone wants to feel like someone cares
Someone to love with my life in their hands
There?s gotta be somebody for me, oh

Nobody wants to do it all on their own
And everyone wants to know the night alone
There?s somebody else that feels the same somewhere
There?s gotta be somebody for me out there
Nobody wants to be the last one there
Cause everyone wants to feel like someone cares
There?s somebody else that feels the same somewhere
There?s gotta be somebody for me out there

produced by old mutt?

damn this record..COULD, be an epic arena rock album then!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vP7VsPb9ZpY

the new song.

VERY MUTT LANGE influenced for sure.

check out the high pitched vocal intros, and the style drums.

Guitar wise, its a little weak as they usually have some pretty cool riffs, but then again. if its a nickelback single, its always gonna be weak, there singles are always tame for radio stuff.

Its very different to there old stuff. Reminds me of Def Leppards Hysteria, obviously due to mutts involvement,

Why. Because you dont like them. Or do like them n wouldnt expect me to like them?

My reasons for liking them are these.

Ive been into them since they had their first hit. Silver side u p was an ok album, when i was younger. Nothing amazing.

Then they released "The Long Road". Thats probably my favorite album by them. Good songs.

I like how they have a good mix of rock songs and ballady type tracks. Plus i think Chads voice is cool, certainly their distinction point.

Ive enjoyed the more Arena rock sound they have taken in recent years. Yes its more accessable and commercial, but they have still managed to rock it out. Just with bigger drums and bigger chorus's.

To be frank i just think they write good songs, i can never understand all the harsh criticism they get.

Magazines moan about Nickelbacks successful formula they choose to repeat, yet praise pop artists that cant even write their own songs?

It just irritates me. You get artists like Bon Jovi, who have to get people like Desmond Child co-writing hits for them. They dont even stay Rock N Roll as their albums go on. Getting all this acclaim, even now.

Nickelback, pump out a good rock album every few years, dont stray too far from there roots n just get slated.

Not every artist has to write a symphony orchestra on their second album to be good. Not every artist has to write amazing lyrics.

Sometimes its good just to have a nice simple rock n roll album with 3 minute songs to rock out to.

They are ok lol. Its a typical Nickelback single though really isnt it that track. So its gonna be soppy as those are there most successful singles generally.

But then again, what rock band didnt get the biggest hits with ballads n love songs.

While id rather be rocking it, i think its kinda better they release those tracks as singles, so then the rock songs dont get overplayed n killed.

I'm not saying this to upset anyone, but there aren't many bands that I dislike more than Nickelback. I've just never gotten into them at all... to each their own. If you enjoy their music, good... I just don't.

Sometimes the radio kills bands for me... that could be why I despise them. I just hear them ALL THE FUCKING TIME on the radio.

I like them. Well, I own their last two albums. I don't know quite what my 'fan status' is, but either way, I'm not sure why they get so much hate. I'd rather listen to them than some of the indie bands that British radio seems to love.

All The Right Reasons has quite a few good songs on it IMO.

I think they're ok :) They do need to work on their setlists though. When I saw them live they played a rocker - ballad - rocker - balled - rocker - etc. Doesn't really work. Also I don't think they're great at large crowds (I saw them perform over, I don't know, 30.000 people or something).

I don't really get why people hate nickelback as much neither. But I don't really care.. The weirdest part is when people say: "nickelback has gone too commercial".. I have all their albums and they never went to any drastic musical changes so either they've always been commercial or they never were..

Unaware of Coronavirus, Nickelback Continues Tour of Playing to Empty Stadiums

Completely oblivious of the Coronavirus, Canadian rock band Nickelback has continued the United States leg of their “All the Right Reasons” world tour as the typical crowd size of seven people hasn’t dwindled since the outbreak began. Public health officials who had advised the cancellation of concerts specifically stated that they will permit Nickelback shows to go on.

“Nobody will ever see a Nickelback concert as a possible public health hazard because they don’t have any fans,” CDC Robert Redfield stated, “We’ve confirmed that it’s just the tour bus driver, and a handful of the stage crew out there in the stands cheering the band on every night. It’s always been just them. In fact, if you want to be safe from the virus, one of the best places you could go is to a Nickelback concert, but I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.”
