Title: VR no good.
Post by: shaun on August 05, 2005, 07:10:43 AM
Was hanging out with some friends of mine here in Luxenburg. They visited a music festival some weeks ago that lasted 3 days. NIN showed up and were great, Green Day were there and were also great. Looking through the list of bands appearing i noticed VR on the ticket. So i asked my friends what were VR like? their anwser, Very Revolting, not very good and why was the lead singer wearing a Nazi cap?? So i pushed them further and asked, but what about Slash? he must have been good? their reply, well he really wasnt into it.

Jarmo, u should think about modifying the rules.

and you should think first before insulting other people.
problably the guys friends aren't into VR, wich is normal, not everyone has to be. worst case scenario they really did suck, now is that so hard to believe either? everyone has a bad day...

Jarmo, u should think about modifying the rules.

Oh really?

That's just funny.....  ;D

Ever thought that maybe these people never heard of the band or the hype and just saw the show? Then decided it wasn't their cup of tea? Is that possible? Or does everybody in the world like VR?

Everybody has got an opinion.   I saw VR live and was blown away..maybe these people were never into GNR or just are one of the ones that don't like VR because it's not GNR or they don't like Scott..who knows..  Very revolting is a bit harsh..even if they had an off night..

Since they liked Green Day it's obvious that their opinion doesn't matter.

I have the Raleigh boot CD and to be honest, most of that CD is unlistenable.

Scott was great at the show I attended though, Slash wasnt however.

I normally find that, people have thier opinions. But have no basis for them. No one can explain why VR sucks. Other then they just suck. Until someone tells me why they don't like something, I tell them to move the fuck on and educate themselves first.

Jarmo, you know, it's interesting how you get offended when someone curses but don't get irritated by people who just want to disrespect bands and start arguments.  This is clearly someone who just wants to make a bullshit statement to piss off VR fans.  That's not a first but it's a bit annoying already.  So, chill out and enjoy the show.

Insults are fun!  Everyone insults people.  It's funny.  Mind you, I know you don't want a flame war, coz every letter adds to the bandwidth! hehe... you could end up running out if everyone was flaming the whole time... so I see your point.  Even so... you suck balls!!

Sorry, had to get that one in.

Anyway, on topic... no, VR don't suck.  I have seen them live... they're a tight band with a lot of talent, INCLUDING Scott.  He's a friggin ace vocalist who can hit his notes and shit, live, with no worries.

The band are great, the songs are great.  Don't like the band..?  Don't discuss them.  You'll only annoy yourself and others.

I've seen them live five times on this tour. Does that answer your question?

I still don't like everything they do, but they're an entertaining live act.

I also think they could be more entertaining if they mixed up their setlist a bit.  :hihi:

i didnt mean it in a bad way, i just wondered what you thought of them, bcos i know some people seem to think that you hate them, when this is obviously not true.

I also agree about the setlist thing, if i were slash, i think i would be getting abit bored of the same songs night in night out. Mix it up abit please

No shit. I hoe they at least add "come on, Come in" to the setlist.
Also, why did they even stop playing "used to love her"?

In case you cant tell just by listening to the radio, most people nowadays only like rock music thats watered down. VR is too rough for many out there. Plus, VR dont fit in like Green Day does with the current music scene.

the fact that they said Green Day were great just makes them lose all cred.

I know, they only have one album and they still do a decent job of switching the setlist with different covers and even dropping and adding some of their songs here and there. This past week they played Dead and Bloated and Come On Come in for the first times.  Then they have thrown in covers from The Doors, Pink Floyd, Sex Pistols, Cheap Trick, Nirvana, Aerosmith and Queen. They dropped Dirty Little thing at a show last week and Sex Type thing in another.. Through out the tour they added a song here and there that they hadn't played yet first Superhuman, then Dirty Little Thing then You Got No Right.... I think they are doing a fine job for the ammount of material they have...I have seen them 4 times and each show the setlist had evolved from the previous..

I've heard the VR album, it's ok, not so great. I was simply after someone's opinion of them who had seen them live. I guess you like them lots and lots.

Very few bands have great live performances every show. Diddn`t VR cancel the rest of the european tour due to exhaustion & getting burnt from touring for over a year? I`m not saying VR is the greatest band ever or that they suck, just the fact they are human.

I think cutting the tour short had more to do with the snobby european attitude towards VR, and constant comparisions about GNR. Supposedly there is alot of GNR chanting over there. They havent moved on compared to the states. If these shows were in the US, i doubt they would cancelle.

I've seen them four times in London (got witnesses) and once in Stockholm.

All I heard was "We want Slash" during the opening act in Stockholm... Kinda funny since the opening act was the guitar player from Europe.

Oh, and "Hammer! Hammer! Hammer!" before one of the London shows.  ;)

Then that would make Axl the solo Weiland.

Axl pretty much is solo now with a bunch of new guys with the exception of Dizzy. Axl is calling all the shots and the rest are in the dark on things. Certainly different circumstances than Weiland.

honestly i wish people would stop bashing VR, ok so their not as good as Guns N' Roses, but not that many bands are.... I am a huge GnR and STP fan, and i have to say i am a bit dissapointed because if u look where the members came from, Velvet Revolver as a whole should be flat out awesome, but instead we get pretty good. Contraband is good, not spectacular, and they put on a killer live show....and they are better than? most of the shitty rock bands out right now and thats fine with me.

I really believe this next album will shock everyone... i mean they have had alot of time to gel now, and also if u look at the the evolution in STP's records, this should be similar.
