Title: Why didn't Tim Burton make "Batman Forever" and 'Batman and Robin" Post by: MikeB on August 03, 2005, 09:41:07 PM For the first time in a while, I watched those sequels , they just don't impress me as much as the first two. Did Tim Burton not want to participate with sequles to movies he made? Was Michael Keaton getting old for the role, which is why Val Kilmer and George Clooney took them?

Most people still seem to think that "Batman Forever" was ok, but I think that's because they haven't seen it in awhile. I watched it a couple of months ago (after watching Batman Returns), and it was awful.
Batman Begins washed the bad taste out of my mouth. Title: Re: Why didn't Tim Burton make "Batman Forever" and 'Batman and Robin" Post by: MikeB on August 03, 2005, 10:08:55 PM The dialouge in Batman and Robin was horrible. I thought Robin , Batgirl, and MR. Freeze were horrible characters.

With the bad taste Charlie and the Chocolate factory left i'm increasingly coming to realise that Burton is rather over-rated Check his last few films Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) - weak Big Fish (2003) - weak Planet of the Apes (2001) - a travesty! The World of Stainboy (2000) - what? Sleepy Hollow (1999) - terrible! Mars Attacks! (1996) - about as funny as a crash landing Ed Wood (1994) - okay Batman Returns (1992) - weak Batman is superb but he's never done anything else thats impressed me And i rather like Batman Forever, if for nothing more than Nicole Kidman and to a lesser extent the performance of Jim Carey Plus i'd taker Batman and Robin over Batman Begins - two bad films, but Begins bored me stupid Title: Re: Why didn't Tim Burton make "Batman Forever" and 'Batman and Robin" Post by: Jessica on August 04, 2005, 06:16:51 AM Personally, i think that Batman shouldn"t have been adapted to cinema.
Its universe is extremely peculiar. As for Tim B, i am personally a fan and i find him extremely talented. His universe speaks to me. And i loved these 4 movies, with a particular mention to Mars Attacks for the sense of humor. I have seen this movie 6 times and still laugh. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) - weak Sleepy Hollow (1999) - terrible! Mars Attacks! (1996) - about as funny as a crash landing Ed Wood (1994) - okay Title: Re: Why didn't Tim Burton make "Batman Forever" and 'Batman and Robin" Post by: Kujo on August 04, 2005, 07:26:55 AM I'm a fan of Tim Burtons movies but as with anything else not everyone is going to have the same opinion on everything.
Notably absent from his film credits is the brilliant, in my opinion, Nightmare Before Christmas. I have great expectations for "The Corpse Bride" in September as well. Title: Re: Why didn't Tim Burton make "Batman Forever" and 'Batman and Robin" Post by: Jim on August 04, 2005, 08:07:30 AM As far as I can remember, Burton said that the franchise was going in 'a direction he didn't like'...
...That's not a quote, by the way. On Tim Burton... ...Ahh, Big Fish. As good as it gets for me in regards to Tim Burton. Just brilliant. One of the best fictional movies I've ever seen along Terminotar 2. This movie had mystery, it was really dark style. You have to deepen guys... Batman & Robin and Batman Forever are very good for the kids. : ok: Title: Re: Why didn't Tim Burton make "Batman Forever" and 'Batman and Robin" Post by: MikeB on August 04, 2005, 10:34:45 AM I love the movie Sleepy Hallow, but i wasn't very impressed with his remake of Planet of the Apes. I just don't understand why a movie has to be remade after the original was successful. I thought Big Fish was brilliant too, Ewan McGregor is one of these new actors that can actually act instead of just read the lines. I think the reason his movies don't appeal his imagination as much is because most fans only care about special effects today than before.

As for Alicia Silverstone, :drool:Title: Re: Why didn't Tim Burton make "Batman Forever" and 'Batman and Robin" Post by: Mr. Dick Purple on August 05, 2005, 05:16:34 PM I saw Big Fish yesterday and I gotta say it's still excellent one of TB masterpieces.
Ewan Mcgregor was flawless as for Billy Crudup, Helana Boham Carter, Jessica Lange (was ok), Lindsay Lohan () As for the batman movies I saw an interview once, where Michael keaton rejected the batman forever part cause TB wasn't gonna direct it. So I think both agree no to do Batman Forever. :peace: |
