Title: small axl mention on rockstar:INXS
Post by: cbeier78 on August 01, 2005, 09:37:15 PM
tonight on rockstar they brought in a vocal coach named ron anderson.   and they said he worked with axl rose.  does anbody have any idea in what time period he worked with axl in?  possibly now?  it may be a stupid post but i thought i would bring it up since there is nothing else gnr related to talk about.  i hope this isn't a dead horse.  and i'm sorry if it is

He is the guy that fucked up Axls voice and taught him to scream instead of sing.

watching that show just serves to reinforce what a whore and a sellout Dave Navarro has become
he is an amazingly talented player, but man has he veered off course in recent years

Not to make this a Dave thing, but with Janes calling it a day and The Panic Channel (his new band) in the process of finishing their record and solidifying a deal he's opted to fill his plate with a few things outside of his normal realm.  From what he says, he spends time with the contestants daily and has become quite close to the whole situation.  Apparently "down time" is not a healthy thing for him, leaving him to his own devices tends to lead to the chance of bad habits creeping in.  On top of that, Janes was massively in debt when the plug was pulled and people gotta get paid..

Back on topic..
As for the vocal coach, he's a highly respected guy who's worked with the best.

No the show sucks, most of the singers are terrible. The only good ones are the chick from joy drop and that kid who butchered  we are the champions.

Mickael Hutchence was one of the last icon frontman. I have the INXS DVD (Live Wembley 1991), Hutchence is phenomenal.

Considering all the groupies that wanted to get with him you have to wonder how he ended up dying while jerking off alone with a belt around his neck.   ::)

He was good for an album or so. Many great frontman have come and gone in America since INXS faded, quickly.

That show is kinda a joke. Its star search/American Idol with a rock tinge to it. Hutchence was pretty much INXS in my mind so I don`t see them being taken too seriously when they go out & tour with the contest winner.

I actually like the show. Brooke Burke is smokin' and there are several good singers on it.  Regardless, I'm sure the band members are constantly thinking to themselves "I can't believe that dumbass hung himself - look what we've lowered ourselves to in order to find a replacement...".

Aussies working in the hotel were asked to shut up because a woman was seen running and accordiong to one eye witness, she would be a known call girl.

I hear ya Flacon and agree somewhat. I dunno, I was such a Janes/Navarro fan and part of that was about the underground mysterious vibe they had, I guess it's just oversaturation has made me somewhat tired of the guy

I love that show. I think Jordis is fab, though I doubt that a female will get the gig

Navarro does look ridiculous doing this show.  I thought I'd seen the worst when Jane's Addiction appeared on the Dave & Carmen show talking about his impending nuptials, but this takes the cake.

The show has one talented girl (Jordis) which is probably a fluke.  And the fact that any one cares what the washed up members of INXS think about anything is laughable.  No one paid any attention to those guys when INXS was popular, why would they now?

Topic?  One bright side of Axl being a hermit is, that he hasn't dived down to the Dave Navarro/Tommy Lee/Jani Lane sub level of begging for attention.

Actually, guys, I'm 32 and remember INXS's popularity quite well.? It's not the point.? The INXS fanfare was all about Michael Hutchence.? Anyone who actually lived during that era, will know that no one gave a shit about the band members.? They were faceless, nameless.? So after their career has been defunct for quite a few years now, who gives a shit what they say about what makes a good frontperson?? The whole show is a desperate bid for a financial comeback.? It's pathetic.?

Oh, and just as an aside, Axl and Michael Hutchence hated each other.  GnR performed on a bill with INXS sometime in 1988.  There is a magazine story about it somewhere.  GnR, by their own admission had a bad show, and Hutchence was quoted as saying "Does it get any worse than this?".  Well, I'm sure you know how Axl felt about that, lol.  Then in the early nineties, Axl and Hutchence found themselves in the same social circle when Axl dated Stephanie Seymour and Hutchence was dating Helena Christiansen (another supermodel of the time).  Hutchence had another quote around this time, I can't remember exactly how it went, but it was something to the effect of saying how crazy Axl was.

Too bad because they were really 2 very talented persons.

Also, do you remember that band called "Tears for fears"? I remember they had a single called "seeds of love" it was a HUUUGE success, in my memories, I used to hear it 24h a day on radio and TV. Amazing song! 1991 I think wasnt it? or maybe 1990.

Tears for fears have made their comeback with a good single (and often played on radio). Not my cup of tea but it's cool  ;)
