Title: What's wrong with my amp? Post by: Mal Brossard on August 01, 2005, 02:22:30 AM It all started about a month ago. I was at a church camp type thing and was rehearsing for the tealent show with some friends when my amp just suddenly started making all sorts of buzzing and crackling noises. I tried changing cords-- didn't help. I tried it in different rooms thinking it may just be getting interference-- didn't help. I tried a friend's guitar through it-- didn't help. It even was making the noise without ANYTHING plugged into it.
It's a Fender Princeton 65 (solid state, not tube). I bought it on eBay about a year and a half ago. I've never had any problems with it until now. I'd really prefer not to sink another $100-500 into a new amp, so any help here is appreciated. Title: Re: What's wrong with my amp? Post by: dustNroses on August 01, 2005, 02:53:18 AM I have a Fender princeton 112, It did the same thing once and i just jiggled the wires to the
main speaker and it works fine now, other than that, i got no idea. Title: Re: What's wrong with my amp? Post by: Sudz on August 01, 2005, 03:17:58 AM This isn't going to be any help to you whatsoever, but it could be anything from a blown speaker to a shorted input jack to anything in between. It might not cost you too much to get fixed though, take it into a shop in your area, they'll probably give you a loaner and once they figure out what's wrong, you'll be able to better decide whether you want to pay to get it fixed or buy a new one. Good Luck.

Post by: November Rain 91 on August 01, 2005, 12:55:54 PM i have a fender amp as well (frontman practice amp or something, i dunno), started making weird noises too, turned out that a wire was loose, or had fallen off of where it was connected......i worded that a little awkwardly, but hopefully you get the picture, had that problem with two amps in a row, one brand new that i traded for this one, they just opened it up and reconnected the wire and it was fine
