what kinda irratates me is when axl records a song, and when he plays it live he will either curse, or say it with a little bit wrong. these things irritate me

i will now use examples from  UYI I

mr.brownstone: we've been dancing with mr.brownstone he's been knockin, he wont leave me alone
mr.brownston on UYI I: he's been knocking mothafuckamothafucka wont leave my ass aloneeeee.

thats what kinda appealed to me originally with old gnr....Axl and the band would do different things with the songs at concerts instead of playing the same stuff and saying the same things like they were on the album. I like it better that way....but thats just me

i think its really funny, especially when ya dont expect it. In about 88, when they did jungle they added one more line before the HUH part. He says "its gonna bring you to your motherfucking knees"

Also i  think he says its gonna bring you down HA, because hes out of breath lol.

The silly thing I don't like very much is that On RIR show, Axl keeps leaning on Tommy's shoulder. I know its just me.

I always loved it when Axl throws in the FUCK word or the BITCH word.   Hell, its a live show hes tryin to get the crowed reved up.  No offense but this = stupid post

Im totally agree with what axl's doing, he's doing his best in live performances, for example I like it when axl says " I call My mother.. She's just a CUT now!" (bad obsession Tokyo 92) ?you don't like it? your opinion ?: ok:
You know axl likes to kinda update his older songs in live shows.

a big question here for me is that in the new live shows why axl sometimes keeps his hand or fingering his left side of his pants? i think its something refers to his wireless microphone but why too much?

the second question is what's he doing when he acts like football managers keeps his players aware of which place they should be?. i dont know if you got what i mean

In Bad Obession that word CU*T is actually in the lyrics, he isn't putting that word in there just for live show ;)

In the 2002 shows, he is messing with the remote to his mic.  He messes with it cause he keeps adjusting the sound.

The 3rd question, not sure what you mean.  I've never really seen him control the stage as far as who should stand where at all times, they all pretty much have their designated spots but they still move around.

   Sorry Slash Rose, I disagree.  I love some of the improvisations.  My favorite has to be YCBM's "with your ass in the air!" line...it rocks!!!  Right up there is the addition to PC, "BEAT IT!"  That's the beauty of a live performance.

I like the little improvisations.  A lot of times him throwing in a fuck or two gets me pretty pumped up...like "worryin's a waste of my fuckin' time."  Plus I like when bands add a little to at least some songs live.  Make it seem fresh for the audience.  After all, we can hear the studio versions all we want by just listening to the albums.

If its not to  much over the top, improvisation with little things like that is fuckin' cool man, whats wrong with it, just makes the songs even cooler :smoking:

It is great when Axl adds impromptu to the lyrics during the live shows.? For example [impromptu by Axl]:

That is what I pay for when I see a concert... to see and hear the original aspects of the concert.? It what makes live.... live.

I like it when he sings what he feels, thats the real meaning of the song. Anyway, I don't give a fuck what or how he sings it cause it his material and once and awhile I'm sure it gets alittle boring doing it over and over. Rember, he's not just singing it to you.

I love it too, but i thought it was always a part of the original lyrics.. In AFD, that part sounds muted, so i assumed it was censored or something!

I personally love improvisation in live concerts. That's what makes a live experience......well, an experience.

I especially love the "You Could Be Mine" add-lib of "with your ass in the air".  It makes me wish he had sang it that way in the original version.

I go to a live show to hear something a little different. After all if I wanted to hear an exact replica to whats on the albums, then I could save my time and money and stay at home and listen to the albums.

On the studio version of 'Mr. Brownstone', there's a slight pause when he says "worryin's a waste of my......time!"

Yea, like when he sang the Garden live, and he sang "Where you can grow some sativa and the smell is too strong and the neighbors wife complained so you have to slap a bitch, you're in the Garden."

I dont think it's censored - theres pleanty of swearing elsewhere - why censor it here?

That pause you speak of is in keeping with the cadences and the groove of the music, kind of keeps with the boogey-type vibe of the song

thats what makes the lives worth watching, thats why i like gnr better than most bands, it adds character to the show

  Are you implying that I don't prefer to treat women as actual human beings that I'd like to dispose of when I'm finished?  For Christ's sake, it's a song.  It's similar to playing a video game...like Grand Theft Auto...you KILL people for God's sake...it's fantasy.  Kinda like I used to Love Her.

  When a song starts out, "I'm a cold heart-breaker fit ta burn" (that means at this moment he's a bad mother fucker who's destined to go to hell)  "and I'll rip your heart in two" (let's see, that is some effective foreshadowing there to the next line)  "and I'll leave you lyin' on the bed" (how does "with your ass in the air" make it any less offensive?) 

  Everyone has a different interpretation of a song's meaning.  For me, "with your ass in the air," fits perfectly!  It sounds like he's dealing with a real, first-class bitch who's used to havin' guys "out the door before" she "wakes, it's nothin' new to," her...etc.  If the music you listen to determines how you treat women, alot of GNR fans should be locked up.  :hihi:  Since that is NOT the case, relax and have some fun.   : ok:

i hate that lame rap thing they do in the middle of rocket queen, I have seen older live versions of rocket queen (before UYIs) where they have done the rap thing or just had a cool jam in the middle of a song, I think adler even did a drum solo a few times?

That's cool, I can respect that, but Axl for some reason (in the old material) strikes me as the type of dude who doesn't forgive and forget and that likely transcended into personal relationships with women.  There's definitely alot of misogyny present in Axl's old lyrics.  Part of what I love and respect about Axl is the growth he's demonstrated in lyrics like Madagascar and The Blues. 

Anyway how would you like if some other band did a cover of a Gn'R song and stuck in extra lyrics? Axl didn't even write YCBM

Ok smart guy.. who wrote YCBM? If you say just Izzy, then you are a fool in your statement. Izzy was a member of the band the same time Axl, therefore it's the bands property. If you say Taupin/John then prepared to gte laughed outta here.

What the fuck! I know its each to their own with opinions on what annoys them in life, but surely the things that annoy people about Axl in live concerts are the things that have made him an idol across the world? For fucks sake he does things his way and that is what has made him stand out from all the rest as a frontman over the last 20 years! He does stuff that no one else would and that is what has made the gigs over the years so fucking amazing! I cant believe that someone would get annoyed with Axl for changing a lyric in a song at a live concert! Thats why its called a live concert things get done differently and thats what makes it fun!

It would of been cool if when they sang Rocket Queen, instead of saying, "And I can do you favours, but then you'll do whatever i like.." they said, "And I can do you favours, but bitch you'll do whatever I like!"

Lol the rap thing in the middle of rocket queen reminds me of cornchucker for some reason. and for the people who say they dont like it.. it was just a little joke thing they put together.. wasnt like a serious addition to the song. so.. chillax.

and to add to the topic discussion.. i love it when axl changes it up live. who wants to go to a show and just hear an album? i want personality and a show baby. if theyre just gonna play it the same everytime they might as well just play the album for the crowd instead. and also.. think of it from axl and the bands point of view... who wants to do the same songs everynight? GN'R was known for not having setlists/planning/ ect.... so of corse things are gonna be different everyonce ina while. Those guys were wild and unpredictable. Why do you think the guns were so popular?

The only things I didn't tend to like is the reggae bit the band do in KOHD.

The old full live version of It Taste's Good.. was cool. However I'm more a fan of Rocket Queen live just as it is, no guitar solos, medleys etc.

I once read that like when they were touring straight for two and a half years, that they made these changes in the songs because they got sick of playing  them the same way over and over again, not  only was a change for the audiences, but a change for them as well, and besides the music is always differnt in a live show with anyone. 

as far as the lyrics for Patience, i have noticed him screwing those up too.  Even in the actual video he is holding the lyrics to the song through alot of the videol.  It's funny too cause they have those little boxes that sit up in front of the stage, that offer the lyrics, all he would of had to do was look at it to get it right huh?

I like it. It does not bother me in the least.

Personally, I love when bands change their songs up live... that's part of the whole experience.  I hate it when they sound exactly like the CD.  I agree with the "with your ass in the air" line from YCBM.
