Title: Fron NIN.com: Robin Finck
Post by: alexrose on July 19, 2005, 05:01:09 AM
Aaron:
I think Robin said it best himself when he wisely stated:
" I know now that when i dig in the mud, I'm gonna get dirty as hell and wish for a swim.
Then when wrapped in white linen, I'll secretly start to sweat and stink. And so it is.
By - these years - I'll suppose you're suggesting in the flesh on the planet.
What comes up for me now is consistent. The more I learn, and the greater I attune my attention with something beyond this little life of mine and yours. The more simply my way unfolds. I'm much more consciously aware of how my thoughts and actions bring immediate situation and circumstance to my life and that's hard to unlearn.
Try as might. I see the me-to-be bathed in an obvious color and dancing wild desire out loud your lawn.
A posture preluding silence." - Robin Finck  ???

Robins wording never fail to impress me.
There's a note of strong resolution in this statement.
well said Robin!

But what is "preluding"?  ???

Title: Re: Fron NIN.com: Robin Finck
Post by: August 18th on July 19, 2005, 10:39:44 AM
preludium, isn't that some sort of "foreplay" for classical concerts? like a warm-up or something of that manner.

Oh, a prelude!! Silly me! :D

I get it. So he's saying (this long) Silence preludes to something (huge).

Wow. I hate to be having this reaction as a long time fan of NIN and Fincks mark but...that is some really amateurish poetry. Like something Mike Meyers would say on beatnick spoken word night. I am not a poet with words, but that doesn't make me not able to judge someone else's. I can't play the guitar, but I can recognize that Jimi Hendrix was a guitar god.

This is really horrible. Hopefully Axl is keeping Finck the fuck away from any lyrical input on Chinese D. Guns N' Roses is the very definition of great lyricisim and musicianship. Axl would never write something that pretentious and gay. Finck just needs to stick with the guitar. Someone needs to tell him that great poetry can be really basic in its nature, and should never sound like someone is trying to sound intelligent and poetic. He needs to be mindful of the flow and let go naturally. What a bunch of trite.

Man, you find my shit pretentious and gay? I am just being me dude. Finck, as I have seen interviews with him from years back, doesn't talk like that. And dude, I have never made one post about dope. And if I did, then I don't remember, so it never really happened.  :smoking:

No sir. I'm just saying Robin might secretly sweat it out, which might stink but his sweat is no more pretentious and gay than your shit is.
A real Master of whatever field would say,
"Forget the sissy words such as "pretentious" n  "gay", or forget about your art." :smoking:

dude, it's ok dude, we can't all be like Rimbaud dude, ok dude ? nice dude.  : ok:

True But that titanic guy made it. Judging from the film the Rimbaud dude was a pretentious gay. :hihi:

I enjoy robin's style of writing... and writers don't 'walk around' speaking like they write.  Does Axl go around talking like "It's hard to hold a candle...."  ::)

anyhow yeah, an opportunity for some "Robin Love"

Do we even know 100 percent of Robin said this, or if it's just this Aaron guy mocking him? This is the same Aaron that "pisses on robin's shoes", correct?

So Robin really wrote this. Its hilarious, but not in the way you might think. He has waited so long to be a real rock star and release an album that at some point, he decided to become a poet. Trust me, if this guy can sit around writing this kind of stuff, there is NOTHING happening with GNR. I'm not bashing him for writing this. If he wants to do this, more power to him. But it just proves zero is being accomplished on CD. And dont give me that bullshit line about the 'music is already done'. Fortus contradicted that statement in one of his last interviews.

How does someone putting a paragraph or two of poetry prove that nothing has been accomplished? Why do you turn every thread into a nothing has been recorded/finished thread? Starting to sound like a broken record.

yes, in 'quest' - 'call and response' - 'you first'
it was in response to this question submitted by a visitor to the site: "How have you changed during these years and what is the next methamorphosis of you?"

I think it's awesome how Robin shares with his fans.
