Title: The greatest albums all seem to have great names
Post by: Walk on July 17, 2005, 02:31:09 PM
It's something few people notice, but great albums tend to have great titles, and bad albums have unoriginal titles. I think bands realize when they're sitting on gold, and they know to give it an appropriate name, as opposed to mediocre names for mediocre music.

Great Albums

Cowboys From Hell (Pantera)
Defenders Of The Faith (Judas Priest)
Powerslave (Iron Maiden)
Keeper Of The 7 Keys (Helloween)
Sad Wings Of Destiny (Judas Priest)
Appetite For Destruction (guess ;))
Rust in Piece (Megadeth)
Agent Orange (Sodom)

Mediocre Albums

Pink Bubbles Go Ape (Helloween)
Point of Entry (Judas Priest)
The X Factor (Iron Maiden)
Undisputed Attitude (Slayer)
Louder Than Hell (Manowar)
The World Needs A Hero (Megadeth)
Get What You Deserve (Sodom)

The classic albums have awesome titled, but the lesser ones have uncreative titles. Although it's bad to judge a book by its cover, it seems that the cover and title do make a difference for music!

Exile On Main Street (The Rolling Stones)
Highway To Hell (AC/DC)
Back In Black (AC/DC)
Never Mind The Bollocks (The Sex Pistols)
Houses Of The Holy (Led Zeppelin)

Although Led Zeppelin IV isn't a particularly great title, and yet...

Great album that matches the title is Metallica , Master of Puppets, the coverart is just awesome looking and matches with it.But St. Anger was horrible, just lack of creativity. The title and the artwork was a joke. I only listen to that album when I need to laugh, like Jaymz voice cracking like a 13 year-old's voice. :hihi:

Worst than Pink Bubbles go Ape I think is Chamelon that album really sucks and the name doesn't help at all, but pink bubbles have great songs, as mankind, number one.
Also don't forget Virtual XI curiosly both albums with blaze baily.  :peace:

That timeless album actually has no title, you know. ;) It goes beyond needing one.

Louder Than Hell ain't bad.  Any album with Brothers Of Metal on it is at least pretty good.

Louder than Hell is such a cliched title, though. It doesn't have the awesomeness of Into Glory Ride or Sign of the Hammer. Manowar haven't been the same since Ross the Boss left.

It's official name is The Four Symbols, no-one calls it that though
