A friend told me when they were on tour in the early 90's when Axl was backstage,James made fun of him because he was warming his voice up before they would play. I heard also another time James said"that faggot probably needs his mother to chop his food into tiny pieces to fit down his skinny throat." Can someone here tell me the story better?

After all he did and said about Metallica..
Probably nothing more or less than anyone else or any of us hates him...

The only reason Hetfield hates Axl is because GNR blew them off the stage every night.

U couldn't be more wrong & i'm not even really much of a Metallica fan. I think the reason all these other people from the music industry loathe botaxl so much is because they've seen first hand what a little bitch he is. Axl Rose got pretty lame after about 1989 to most of the rationally thinking world.

Actually, I couldn't be more right. Lars wanted GNR to open for Metallica in the 80's, but the other members weren't too fond of the idea. Why? Because GNR was the best thing around, and the last thing you want as a headliner is the opening act blowing you off the stage. In 92, they decided to do a 'co-headlining' tour. GNR consistently blew them off the stage every night. Ask anyone who went.

Twisted, you make a good point. I dont remember the whole story behind it cause its been so many years, but I remember an article discussing that tour, and Hetfield was obsessed with Axl. Backstage, it was always 'Axl this, Axl that'. Pathetic. Metallica were HUGE back then, why was he concentrating on Axl? If you've heard various Metallica bootlegs over their career, you'll notice the drop in quality of Metallica's performances on that tour. Hetfield must have suffered stage fright from performing right before Axl. Alot of people dont agree with me on this, but I think their song 'The Memory Remains' is a big fuck you to Axl. I like the song, I thought it was about Axl the first time I heard it, but that was when I started losing what little respect I still had for them. I wouldn't be surprised if Axl had a 'Get in the Ring' style song about Metallica on CD.

Metallica toured with GN'R, so if James Hetfield happens to not like Axl, I think he knows his reasons better than anyone here on this board.

i agree Jamez had every right to say what he wanted about Axl, hell alot of people have talked shit about Axl we dont know the whole story behind wehat happend between MetallicA and Guns N' Roses,  im a huge fan of both the bands but im takin Jamez's side on this one based on what i heard and what i know let's face it Axl is not the easiest guy in the world to work with

James was bitching about Axl's backstage demands, which was only a page long, but the Metallica demands for a show are over 24 pages, some of them insurance (why insurance?)

if you had great music and people were taking your music off the internet and you were not making any money off it wouldin't you do something about it? at first i was pissed too i talked shit about MetallicA but after thinking about they had every right to do what they did.but i think the reason that hatfield did not get along with axl is because axl is a dick and is pretty impossible to work with in fact all prima donnas are impossible to work with

And as for the internet piracy Napster issue. Metallica were absolutely right in their decision to sue. However it was really bad timing considering so many people were bitter about Metallicas new sound and were calling them sellouts. Not saying they shouldve waited, or not done anything. Its js a set circumstances that made Metallica look bad at the time. Looking back at it, people who were bashing Metallica for going against Napster probably get where they were coming from now.  :peace:

I think that if they hadn't left the band...they would dead right know... I don't think that they could've survived that... they were smart to get out of that environment!!!

I know that they continue to make music and stuff... but it was more low key... and that was good for them I think!!!
