i've always kinda wondered if axl had another artist name besides axl. i know he's played in a few bands and he took his name from his band AXL, but at that time, did he use the name for himself, or did he call himself something else? or did he just use his regular name? i dunno, i've never read anything about it, because probably only those who know him and the people who knew him at the time know, so... still, would be cool to know. :smoking:

i heard a while back that axl used the name bruce when he first left lafayette.cant remember where i read it but bruce was written somewhere

um that's his middle name, so... but how do you know? did he take the name axl as late as in hollywood rose?

I read an interview or something where the dude mentioned Axl used Bill Bailey in his early LA days.
but who knows, he might have tried a few names before that, doubt it though.

He also used to spell his name Axel before he realised he could drop the "e" to make an interesting anagram from his name

I've read that the name he wanted for his real name first was not Axl. But it was too fancy to be accepted by the registrar. Maybe BS.

Well unless that is part my GNR history that I don't know, he changed his name legally before he got signed.  I don't know of any other name that he went by other than his birth name.   I am sure you know this, that he had a band called Axl, he decided how it should have been spelled.  I imagine that is where he got the idea to change his name to that.

Ya know , I seem to recall reading an article/interview with some very old bandmate of his , and they said when he 1st moved to L.A. he did use some other stage name.

Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me but I really seem to remember reading that.

Or he rearranged 'oral sex' to get 'axl rose'. easier don't u think?

i remember reading something similar. was it Babe or something? don't mind me if it's wrong, but i'm pretty sure it was Babe b4 Axl.

I have heard of the "Babe" name as well.  I read it in a old book about them.  I can't remember the name of it though.
