first off, you don't know if she's innocent. you dont know if she's guilty either. the media has blown this out of proportion and now everbody is turning into an armchair judge.

and those people saying "boycot bali" and "i hope these donations don't go to bali" are jackasses that? give an embarassing representation of us to the world.

the point is not whether the judgement was unfair or what evidence was heard and what not. you need to accept that under the indonesian law she was found guilty. if anything she should be considered lucky that she got 20 years, as the judge is renowned for putting drug smuglers to death.

who are you to sit on your high horse and claim moral superiority over the indonesian government and its court system? I hate John Howard but he said it best in that "when you go to another country you are subject to the laws of that country whatever they may be". if she really is innocent.....i guess its just bad luck. if she's guilty she definetly should of got the death penalty as she should of been treated no differently to the other indonesian drug smugglers.

accept what the court has decided and move on. the media has turned this into a circus.....im sure chappele wouldnt want her picture in every single news paper..........every little detail of what she does........"corby goes to the hospital"........"corby cries in jail"......."corby goes to the toilet".........have the media no damn courtesy?

ah im done......no more venting. sorry if i offended u clintron but i stand by my viewpoint. :peace:

no offense at all!!

except for the high horse shit dude, c'mon im only saying its unfair. N' you know its unfare.

Is it fare the bombers get out next year hey?? This women knows the laws there, her bloody sister lives there, it's clear as hell she is innocent mate, but i agree with you that if she is guilty its her own fault, it's still fuckin' corupt thou!!

Title: Re: Shapelle Corbe

ofcourse its unfair. especially if she's innocent.

but the pressure from australians is just too much. i just can't believe people are questioning where the donations are going and won't donate to the salvation army if its going to indonesia.

the problem has nothing to with the indonesian government. its the drug smuggling syndicate here. thats where the problem is. with baggage handlers and all that corruption.

there's no corruption in the indonesian courts. they use the logic "the drugs are in her bag therefore they are hers". thats just how they do it and there's no other way. think how many drug smugglers would argue "oh yes they were in my bag but i don't know how they got there and they're not mine" if they didnt use their logic. everysingle drug smuggler could use that defense if chappele corby got acquitted.

absolutely none of the blame and finger pointing should be at the judges or the indonesian courts. they did their job. the problem is back here in Australia and it needs to be fixed. did you hear about all those baggage handlers.........one had a previous jail sentence of 8 years for drug trafficing!......and had been caught doing it and still hadn't been fired! wtf is that?

sorry, but tourists KNOW they can get drugs put into their bags and end up being caught instead of the drugs smugglers.

So even IF that person was innocent, she'd srill be guilty of being dumb enough to not hold her stuff so close to her that nobody could slide anything in it.

PLus, if somebody was capable to put something IN it, it would have been as easy to steal from her. She was lucky to keep her passport, bloody idiot.

Anyway, i have less and less patience for idiots nowadays..

When i was 13 and had my first handbag, it were one of the first things my mother told me about and my grandmother used to do the same.

Plus, i wouldn't go to countries where drugs are so important as part of the local economy ( thailand, columbia, afghanistan,.....)..

I may not be cleverer than some, of course, but i wouldn't go on vacation to these stupid countries where people get that shit year in, year out.

France is a nice country for hollidays, it's big enough, i live here and haven't seen a 3rd of it.  :hihi:

She went nuts when the verdict was read I remember.

It's a tough one. Usually drug rings find people who look like her to carry the dope. They want somebody wholesome and clean cut to do the job. Women with kids, etc etc.

If this woman is guilty, she is the best actor I've ever seen.

She could have been sentenced to death too, so she is lucky for that. But on the other hand, death may have been better then rotting away in one of those jails for 20 yrs as your family dies off on the other side of the globe.

Not sure what to think of this one.

i think it would proberbly be better to die....
Life is very valuable... but when you look at the prisons, the food and all the rest it's pretty sad hey.
i would hate to be in her position...
if i had my music i think i would last..
my music is my comfort,it is my life, but if i didnt have that...
i dont know what i would do

I feel sorry for Corby. Im from New Zealand so we've heard a lot about it here (being very close to Australia)
Its a damn awful predictament to be in, but Im not entirely convinced shes innocent

The onus in Indonesia regarding their judicial system, is for the accused to prove their innocence not the other way around (which is the case in most western judicial processes.

However, the fact that the pot fit so snuggly in that bag seems suspicious as does the weight factor - how would she not have noticed an extra 4kg's weight in her bag?

Her appeal seems to have gone off track as well, bringing in shady Indonesian "celebrity" lawyers and soap stars etc..

I feel for her, as 20 years is effectivley a life sentence for what to some may seem like quite a minor offense (pot)

I dunno. Jail, only because there may be that one chance of getting out (with everybody fighting for me). But if there was no chance in hell......probably death.

i dunno, have you ever had raw coconut. i don't see what all they hype is.

sure i've thought about living on an island and living off coconuts. but eating fresh coconuts just wasn't so appealing after i tried it.

however, as a supplementary meal coconut is great. Like on lammingtons. Coconut on berries. That'd be only on tuesdays and saturdays on the island. don't have much berries you see :hihi:

Title: The Corby Case
Post by: Gunna_girl01 on July 12, 2005, 12:08:47 AM
ROSS COULTHART Reporter: Did she do it or didn't she? It's the question Australians are asking about Schapelle Corby.
Ten days ago in an Indonesian courthouse, she begged for her freedom

ROBYN TAMPOE (CORBY'S LAWYER): I do not think it's possible for Schapelle Corby to have a fair trial, predominantly because of the screw-ups in Australia, the screw-ups here. Basic things that should have been done have not been done. So how can she put the best evidence before this court to ensure she gets a fair trial because it doesn't exist.

ROSS COULTHART: The presumption of innocence. It's one of the fundamental tenets of Australia's justice system. But here in Bali that onus of proof is reversed for Schapelle Corby. Once she was found with the drugs in her bag, it fell to her and her defence team to prove her innocence. To prove that she didn't know the drugs were there. And to prove her claim that someone else planted the drugs. But unless that alleged someone else steps forward and dobs themselves in, she has an almost impossible task.

ROSS COULTHART: Inside the bag, 4 and a half kilograms of marijuana double-wrapped in two vacuum sealed plastic bags. The biggest ever seizure at Bali airport.

For the rest of the interview  go to this address
http://sunday.ninemsn.com.au/sunday/cover_stories/transcript_1775.asp

Personal opinion:

she is definatly in a sticky spot right now.... How are they supposed to give her a fair trial when there is NO evidence... They didnt collect evidence to begin with so now it is going to be allmost impossible to find any at all!!! it has been months scince she was first in court getting charged for drug smuggling!! any evidence that was there has now gone!!

i think that she is not going to get out of this, and it is really sad
because i believe that she is innocent.

Also, i have a friend that deals with booking flights and she has said to me that the flights to bali have not cut back in numbers, as i thought it would have.
Bali is really getting a name now, this is not the first time that bali people have been acused of smuggling drugs.

watch your bags people

Brokedown Palace, a movie made in 1998, confronts this kind of situation. It's about two girls who had their luggage tampered with while vacationing in Thailand. They served ten years in prison. I'm not sure if it's based on a true story.

The authorities should do extensive investigations before charging someone. If they have no hard evidence, then how can they keep her?

It's twisted, sister.

yeah i have that movie at home.. isnt it funny how different goverments work..

if you get caught in australia with that kind of stuff you would proberbly only get one to two years... maybe less.

my ex bf got done wit

agravated robbery
robbery
posession of a knife
harbouring an escapee
burgulary
agravated burgulary
driving without a license 5 times
drunk driving 7 times....

and you know what he got

absolutly fukin nothing. just a couple of fines...

so any of you people that like to brake the law and get off scat free,
come downunder to australia. :P

i herd about that aswell, but now they are trying to see if the people that are fessing up about the drugs are the ones that committed the crime...

when you think about it,

her brother or a family member could pay a homless person from bali to fess up to it...
going to jail would be the high light of thier life, free food, a bed and shelter, what more could a bum want !!! (no offence to homless people"  ::)

that could be the case... or maybe i just have a good imagination  :hihi:
