which GNR member that is currently in the band or has been in the band, do you relate to and why?

i relate to axl because i feel he's got about the same mind-set i've got and we have alot in common so i've always looked up to him, in more than one way. that's why i like to relate and compare my life to his. 8)

I tap into Axl and Izzy for mutually exclusive reasons.

Axl understand's loneliness, and solitude. He studied it. He lived it. He also has a very keen self-concept. He knows what he's about and isn't afraid to convey that in his lyrics. He knows who and what he is about and knows that he should be not idolized or hailed for the things that he does. He's a just a very worldly Acquarian, who's very self-knowledgable, who is willing to share his tears, demons, and frustrations with the world. In other words, he's the definition of an artist.

The stream-of-consciousness denoument that closes out "Coma" is probably the single greatest personification of what goes through one's head when you're home alone in your dark house at 4 AM, when you feel the loneliness really kick in. Axl understood it and unleashed it with an amazing eye for lyrical precision. Pretty ballsy considering most Gn'R fans back then were just waiting for "Paradise City" Part II.

Izzy, on the other hand, comes across as an old soul, a down-home, what-me-worry, everyday everyman. Don't sweat the small shit, get yourself a nice girl, be patient with her, and tie her up if she wants you to. Very folksy (not to mention bluesy). If Izzy is considered Gn'R best songwriter (which I think holds merit), it's most likely because he has an ear for deceptive simplicity. It's all in the handling. Probably why it was such a pain to get him to record his songs.

Back to the subject at hand, I feel both men, as polar opposites, tap into different parts of my psyche with great effectiveness. Axl takes me down deep, to the parts of my unconscious that I try to ignore, while Izzy lays back and says, "Fuck it. I'm still above ground."

Just my two cents.

Izzy, because sometimes I can be very shy and quiet.

But in fact I don't "relate" to anybody. That's just comun caracteristics that's it.

I would like to think I relate to Slash more than Izzy, but I think I'm really an Izzy kinda guy because they're both shy.
Anyways being shy is no good and looking at celebrities who are shy doesn't help kick the habit.

I would say Axl.From what i read about him and his personal life, we`re kind on the same boat, not that i am a huge rock star but some things that happened to him, happened to me as well , i just understand what he feels very well.

Besides, at the begining I didn't like Brain (for the money thing, as many people), but I finally changed my mind and I think he is great. His drums on "the blues" are great.

   You'd think by my terrible singing voice, I'd relate to one Duff McKagan.  The person that ever handed this guy a microphone (just like the guy who handed Michael Jordan a baseball bat) should be beaten mercilessly.  However, like most folks out there, I'd have to say Mr. Rose.

Who cares who you relate to? It doesnt make you any different if you think like Axl or if your addicted to drugs like Steven. Be yourself, don't worship other people. Just becuase you like them, doesn't mean you have to be like them

i do not try and be like anyone else other than myself...

i think that i relate to axl, i am some what of a perfectionist. if i do a job or a task, write a song, make a beat on the drums, then i keep going untill i have perfected it.

as far as his life goes i really dont relate, i have a loving family and had a good childhood, and i am rather sucessful.

I relate to Slash the most, because he is the most exiting musician, and his playing is universal, and fits with most music styles and artists as well as within the rock community/GnR ect..  Many guitar players like me respect Slash very much, as it is his feel that many players would love to have in addition to their technical skills.. I like Axl a lot as well because he is a deep thinker, and my favourite frontman of all times. I really dig the combination of the personalities in AFD erea Guns, that was cool as long it lasted, but Slash and Axl are two of the artists  I respect the most.

AXL is a thinker... and so am i... i think everything through and it is actually causing me problems hey... i have been through depression as well

I can really relate to Axl, its as if his lyrics are js jumping out at me. He speaks his mind and isnt afraid to offend ppl, I respect that very much so. He also had a ferocious temper and was also capable of great loving warmth (If u listen to NR or SCOM theres no debating that), the fact that he was capable of being so capricious is something I can really relate to because Im the same way. I can also relate to the emptiness and lonliness that Axl sometimes feels inside, the "Im happiest when Im alone" attitude is something I can really relate to, it might sound crazy but reclusivness makes me comfortable.

I can relate to Tommy and Izzy because they both have sort of a laid back "cool as a breeze" attitude. Sometimes things js arent worth losing ur head over. I js like Stinsons overall exterior, the cool party guy who has his own style and way of doing things and doesnt get stressed out over petty shit and js like to have a good time. Izzy I can relate to because of songs like Dust N' Bones, Lifes too fucking short, dont let the petty shit get to u.

I get easily pissed off sometimes, I hate being rushed, and I'm having relationship problems at the moment, I'm stuck in the middle of a country bumpkin area, I hate my dad (although not as much as Axl hated his dad), I have an obsessive personality, I stick up for myself sometimes when I could easily just let the whole thing go (aka I rant at them), and I have a friend called Izzy (lol! She's a girl, and her real name is Isabel, but everyone just calls her Izzy). Oh... and my (maybe-soon-to-be-ex ) boyfriend always says "Your mom slept with Axl Rose! You're his love child! Seriously! Your mom was a groupie!".... and so on and so forth. College friends said the same... -_-;

My Izzy side is really laid back, I'm quiet a lot of the time, I love just chilling out and relaxing, and uh... I generally don't do something I'm told to do straight away... I kinda leave it, and then forget about it so I get yelled at... :lol:

I'd have to say Axl, because of my almost split personality that I feel Axl has too, in relation to his music. Sometimes it's laid back and nice and other times it's kick ass RNR I'm the same personality wise!

even though buckethead isn't technically in gn' r anymore, i relate to the experimental bizzareness of what he represents. i understand what he does. and i also enjoy robots.
axl because he goes his own way, no matter what the consequences, and the reclusiveness. kind of crazy, mostly brilliant.

Definately Axl, but besides him I can't wait to hear Brains drums on the CD.  Always have been a huge fan of Brain.  Love his drums on Brown Album and his work with Buckethead/Praxis.  I think his drumming is a great asset to the current lineup.   I won't be surprised if he will be considered the best GNR drummer after CD is released.
