Fuck it keep it in that's how the song was intended there's no need to edit it it's not like anyone doesn't already know it's there, it's like when they censor fuck on music video's on TV like it's a bad influence on kids the kids still know it's there it makes no difference.

If black people call each other niggers, why shouldn't Axl do the same?

Obviously the word has taken on a different meaning when used in a certain context.  Don't use that as an excuse for you, or Axl, to act like an idiot.

slash is only half black, and hes a white guy. Becides, if he was offeneded by it, he would've said something durring the writing of it back when they were recording GN'R Lies.

i believe we discussed this before...how can one black person offend another black person by calling him a nigger? if a white man calls a black man a black bastard its offensive as its racist...if one black man calls another black man a black bastard  then its not offensive as both sides are black therefore its not racial...its the same with nigger...the word nigger has racial connotations

and it shouldnt be cut out of the song...even though it was naive to write such lyrics, it hit a nerve in many people...

That's just stupid. If a white person says something and a black person says something they mean the same thing, also discrimination due to race is racist but calling someone of another race names is not racist unless you call them the name due to their race

I'd leave it in

I think Axl could have used a slightly better word (or two) instead - but Axl isn't a rascist, and in our ultra PC culture i think it just gets overblown, it was just uneeded, not rascist - the intent was never there.

Axl was in a band with a half black man, dated black women and loves NWA, he's either no rascist or the strangest one i've ever heard of!

I do have one question though

Why does this one lyric cause so much trouble to people but lyrics about killing his girlfriend (coming from a man who used to assult his girlfriends) not upset people?

In one instance a non-rascist has used a silly word, in the other case a wife beater has sung about it

Seems people have more trouble with words than actions - which i find strange

ps - i know Izzy wrote Used to love her and i love all the songs mentioned in the thread

it is not stupid, a few days ago someone called me scotch (its an offensive word) instead of scottish, the guy was scottish, i didnt take offence because he would be insulting himself too wouldnt he? dohhhhhhhhhh if he was english and he said scotch i would have belted him

besides you make no sense

I do make sense it's just no one else understands me

If I noticed that you were Scotish and then called you Scotch because I disliked Scotish people that would be discrimination which would be racist
If I called you Scotch because you had pissed me off ,or watever, then that would not be discrimaination because if anyone from a different country had pissed me off I would have called them something aswell.

I tend not to use any offensive phrases to do with race or country because everyone thinks that just because they're different they should be immune to insult

Good point.

However, Axl was never found guilty of those charges (correct me If I'm wrong) , so it's not like we have evidence that he assaulted his girlfriends, and even make a song about it.

Also, the song UTLH is not meant to be taken seriously. Even Axl, when introducing the song in Live Era, says something along those lines..." this song is kinda of a sick subject, not autobigraphical...bla, bla blah..." that to me is telling me that he sometimes has a hard time (just like any other human being) dealing with relationships so he makes a joke (in this case, a song) about it.

One more thing, I didn't know Izzy had written this song. If that's the case, then I guess you can't blame Axl for this one.

Curioius distinction to be made

If a Klu Klux Klan member did a song about killing blacks would a disclaimer that it was a 'joke' sayisfy u?

Axl was a wife beater - fair enough the song was a joke, but read the example above again and ask urself how much saying its a joke can really defend u

I'm yet to see evidence whether Axl was a wife beater....How do you know? Was he found guilty of such charges? Just because he was pressed charges against, doesn't make him a wife beater.

To follow your logic, Izzy shoudl've been the wife beater cause he wrote the song. Axl just put sang it...same thing could be said about Slash, Steven and Duff...they all play the song, so they all have to be wife beaters...hell, I even think they are all racists because they play the instruments in One in a Million.  ::)
