Title: axl -n- slash
Post by: mikegiuliana on June 17, 2005, 03:35:04 PM
would you enjoy something like that if they toured and did something like page n plant? I was always thinking about that since their tour and record in the mid 90's..

I always wanted to see that, almost like the wooden stools some acoustic works for a small crowd.. I think a reunion will be very tough one day ,just a thought for the future.

well I never said tomorrow or next year, I picture it more when they are around 50.. I really hope they don't act like babies never speaking to eachother again.. Right now is different both have projects, hopefully axl gets his done one of these days..

Mike, I think this is a more likely scenario than the whole original band getting back together. but this is definitely at least a few years down the road. This would be very interesting if it occured. Much better then the Page/Plant reunion. I wasn't too impressed with that, although they did a kick ass version of 'Gallows Pole'.

Well if they ever bury the hatchet , It would be better that they tour with the banner of GNR... instead of Axl n Slash...

anyway.. I would like Chinese democracy to be a solo album... like david lee roth

I wouldn't waant axl n slash billed as gnr, I would want it as axl n slash because they aren't gnr by themselves even if they are the most reconizable.. Write a few songs, just have a good time in their older age..

I am chiming in here, ofcouse it would be great to see the whole band together but I think it would be just as great to see these 2 most recognizable members of old GNR together alone on stage jamming out years from now.  That would be very, very cool..  An entire band reunited would be awesome too but if all you got was Axl N Slash tell me you would be excited to see that : ok:

Me personally speaking of coarse while it would be cool to see those 2 together what id love to see even more is Axl and Izzy these 2 basicly grew up together and pretty much wrote all of the gnr tunes and would love to see these 2 write music together again they made a great combination.

Izzy and axl wouldn't be the same for me alone.. I really wanted the lead guitar player an the frontman, two legends of the past 20 years playing.. I much rather have the reunion but it would be cool for me to see the two biggest names in gnr finally patch it up and do something together.. Any performing by axl would be nice..

i don`t want axl and slash to write or record music together. i think it`s allright as it`s now, but a farewell tour with about 10 shows for example  of the old band doing the old stuff would be really great and after that they can go their own ways again.

I don't think ahything is 'alright" as of right now...  I do understand you mean you wan tto see new gnr do their thing first... I do too, I am looking way down the line, it was just something I had always thought about.. I even look back when I was a kid watching bon jovi with richie sambora doing dead or alive that was cool, then all the unplugged shows mtv did with the band chilling...

I agree. I could definatly see Axl reuniting with Izzy before reuniting with Slash. Still, being the dick Axl is(i love him to death but it's true), I don't think we'll be seeing any reunion in GN'R  :-[

Great idea.
However, Slash would blow Axl right off stage unfortunately.
If its anything that I saw between the NU-GNR and the VR concerts, Slash is still the enigmatic, dynamic guitar performer that he was in GNR's heydays, but Axl has definitly lost a few steps in his frontman repertoire. Unless he finds his rhythm, he may just want to stick with the NU-GNR if they ever put out the record.

How exactly would a guitar player blow a lead singer off the stage?

And why exactly would axl need to find his rhythm to share a stage with slash?

MNR, that was a really dumb post.

Even though I think Slash is one the best guitarists ever, nobody is ever gonna blow W Axl Rose off stage. It just doesnt happen! He is one the greatest frontmen ever and fans cant take their eyes off him when he is on stage, he controls the crowd completley. Now whilst Slash is one of the greatest guitarists he ent never gonna controls a crowd like Axl does!

I remember at the VMA'02 the crowd couldn't stop looking at Axl. I saw it on TV and I felt it. There was something "magic" in the air. Unfortunately, I've never seen Axl "in real" Live in front of my eyes. Now, When I saw VR in Paris, Slash also had an incredible stage presence (so had DUFF).? I was very impressed. I know now why the original band was phenomenal, put Slash, Duff and Axl, and you have the most thrilling and charismatic band on earth.
The charisma is a significative part in the success. Look at Madonna.

Nesquick, you hit the nail on the head. No one will ever have the stage presence that Axl had. It was completely unreal. I seen GNR in July 1991, and you're right, everyone's eyes were glued on him. Kinda funny actually. Axl runnin all over the stage and everybody's eyes following him. You had to watch him. Not only was his performance "mindblowing", but you had absolutely no idea what the guy was gonna do next. As much as I get frustrated with the CD situation, Axl will always be the greatest. Which makes this wait even that much more ridiculous. Cause the guy has nothing to prove. The whole world knows what he's capable of.

Unfortunately back in the days I was way too young to go to a concert. in 1991 I was 9 or 10.
Some people say Axl is still great, but not as great as he used to be at his top in the early 90s (musically and physically). But I still would like to see him onstage. Just to accomplish that thing:? "I saw Axl onstage". Even once would satisfy me. As soon as I have the chance to see my favourite singer in real at least once in my life, I would be happy :)

Hope to see him on a big gig in Paris though, I want a big show not a small club, "parc des princes" (50.000 people) would be great. This is a wonderfull stadium, not too big, with a great sound, you see very well everywhere, it's the perfect place for the band. This is the stadium of the football team Paris-Saint-Germain (PSG). My favourite team? 8)

Snake, I agree 100 percent!! If Axl releases CD, he better not make the mistake of starting off with a stadium tour. He should do like a 20 city mini tour here in the U.S. performing in small clubs. It would be incredibly cool if they played in an intimate setting. It would also be a way of gauging interest in the band without risking a huge arena/stadium tour. He should also pull a John Fogerty and only play the new stuff, no classics.

I don't agree. I prefer big shows. I agree with the idea to do a small club tour to start, but after a certain period of time, it needs to be bigger. I'd like to see a big spectacle like the Pink Floyd shows when they return in 1994/95.
something ala RIR 3 with a big stage, big lights, big sound, big crowd etc...

come on 'gnr" can pull of an arena tour they just have to say hey we're here to stay and release some material, the gnr name alone could carry a tour.. Gnr is retro, retro os in stlyle people want to say hey I saw gnr and gnr fans of old would want to catch a show too.. 15-20 thousand seaters is child's play.. Now if it wasn't called gnr then small clubs then building up would be better, but no way axl is going to do that ordinary new band leg work, he's a big name.. The interviews the cameras the fans close to the stage.. afd axl definetly,. not braides oversized team jerseys axl..

Because John Bonham is dead, and they do not want to re-unite without him (so I understand).

I think John Paul Jones and the other two are close friends and they've done a show or two with Bonham Jr. as Led Zeppelin.
