Title: Observations on CBGB 1987 Post by: Krispy Kreme on June 11, 2005, 10:55:57 PM 1. First, and most important, this is a MUST DVD for GNR fans. It is now widely available for trade. Put it at the top of your "to get" list. Cool show, excellent quality, and provides real insights into the band.
2. A telling moment and the seed of destruction (?). After the show there is an extended interview. Slash and Axl are sitting together. Slash is (apparently) a bit tipsy and Axl is serious. Axl is being questioned by a reporter, and Slash reaches across his face to get a pair of sunglasses (so he can be like Axl). Axl is interrupted in mid-answer, and turns and says "great, you blew it." Slash is embarrased and sulks for a bit. A telling moment of a dominant-subordinate relationship. 3. Who is the girl in the black dress on whom the camera person focuses during Brownstone? Is that Erin? Enjoy the DVD, I sure did! Title: Re: Observations on CBGB 1987 Post by: jameslofton29 on June 12, 2005, 02:09:55 AM I've never seen this show. But I have it on cd. In fact, it was the first import I bought back in the mid 90's. I paid 40 dollars for it. Well worth it in my book. I listened to it nonstop for a long time. Haven't heard it in awhile. Now that you've mentioned it, I'm gonna listen to it.
Title: Re: Observations on CBGB 1987 Post by: willow on June 12, 2005, 01:04:27 PM I agree this show is a must!! And thanks to a great friend I have a copy. I had a audio for years, but you must see the dvd. I noticed the thing with the glasses too, but I will point out that way back then Axl is talking about how he and they want to go into other directions with sound and such!! Which is suppose to be one of the big reasons they all left. I have said it before and am saying it again. Axl was always open about what his plan was for gnr and the others just went along for the ride. They should have let him know all along that they were not going to do that. Instead they went along for the ride. On Axl's back!!!!
I have a question about the show too. Anyone know who the guy singing with West in the backround is?? Title: Re: Observations on CBGB 1987 Post by: Steve McKagan on June 12, 2005, 03:01:28 PM Could it be Del James?
