I don't think we could ever really decide on what the best invention ever is. I'd say the internet, but it wouldn't be around if it wasn't for computers being invented in the first place. Similarly, I'd say cars were a good invention, but they wouldn't be around if it wasn't for the wonderful invention of the wheel.

Although they may seem wonderful on the surface, most inventions are evil anyway? ;D

Electricity was a discovery; it wasn't invented by man. It was invented/created by God (or whatever alternative you choose to believe), so if that's what you meant, sure, but I think we're talking about human inventions, yeah?

in case you're really curious....i believe the thermos keeps things hot and cold because there is a vaccuum on the inside. There is a container inside to hold the liquid, then outside that is another case, and nothing inbetween. Between the 'shell' and the liquid container is nothing, the air is sucked out. There is therefore no medium for heat to be absorbed or released. Hence, inside stays either hot or cold!

I was gonna say electricity but good point about it being discovered, not made....maybe the internal combustion engine? sparked many other inventions as well...

To me it seems like it would be kinda hard to prove alcohol has done more good than harm  :-\ I guess you could look at most human developments like that though, depending on your general view of advance.

The greatest invention ever? hard to answer to that question. The only thing I know is that everytime I go to Israel I'm blown away buy the Israeli Hight-Tech. There are things you could not imagine, it's genius, do you see James Bond? forget it, it's already "has-been" compared to Israeli technologies? :hihi:
It's really amazing how this so little country creates such amazing things, things you'll never see in the rest of the world, not even in the Silicone Valley...
Everything goes at 100 km/H in Israel, it's 24H/24H movement, activity and intelligence. People are extremely high educated there. They never look back, they always look ahead, they are always in movement, maybe because their biggest fear is to deseapear. Rich or poor, they are all in the same boat, It's a constant fight to survive. They think fast and good, faster than anytbody else, in this need to survive. This country is a miracle. Everytime you think "it's impossible", in Israel it becomes "it's possible ". It's really that.
