Title: Lenny Kravitz
Post by: Carlos_f_Rose on May 17, 2005, 06:52:14 PM
I dont know if this topic belongs to this place... but What is pretty clear to me is that Lenny Kravitz... took as much advantage of Guns N Roses as he could to become... who he is today.... and now that he doesnt need them... he doesnt even talk about them.... not even about slash... whom he played "always on the run..." that pisses me off.. i dont know you guys...

he's hardly going to go into interviews and demand to talk about gn'r. if he gets asked about gn'r then i'm sure he'd answer; but why would 99% of journalists ask him about gn't.

if he was insulting gn'r then that would be one thing, but he's not. it's not his job to publicize gn'r, its axl's.

How has Lenny Kravitz used GN'R?

He knew Slash from school and when Slash wrote the 'Always on the run' riff he gave it to Lenny - as he didn't think it suited GN'R's style.

He appeared with GN'R in Paris '92 and Slash has turned up at a couple of Lenny's shows ...because they are mates, what's so wrong with that?

People don't ask him questions about GN'R because they don't associate him with them.

Right. and why should they? It's not like he played in the band or something... Anyway Kravitz is cool. The few solo album makers people listen to, and he looks like Slash!!! ;D

been listening to his albums.

his first 3 albums have some good tracks on, but theres alot a bit too much laidback stuff on there. So while it may have some awesome funk tracks they  dont entirely hold my attention.

However, i listened to the albums Circus, and 5. And those albums are AWESOME!

Circus is really psychedelic and probably his darkest album in sound n perhaps lyrical content, its got some awesome songs.

5 is the opposite in theme, but its very funky, a bit more digital sounding (i read its because he changed production methods) and that albums very cool and funky also. So im really digging on those two albums at the moment. Anyone else a fan?

Not too interested in his later stuff working with hip-hop people and complete bullshit like that.  Where did his awesome dreads and high heels go?

Lenny was at one of the Hammerstein shows.

And Axl commented that Gn'R were trying to play Live 8 but couldn't then he mentioned that there was talk of just Axl jamming with Lenny in Rio but they couldn't get the schedule to work out. That was in Axl's announcment concerning live 8. I think they like eachother quite a bit. What do you want Lenny to do? Play the role of Baz II?

Cheers

Just because somebody never heard of Lenny before he worked with Slash, doesn't mean Lenny used GnR. Aerosmith played that show in France too. I guess they were using GnR also.

Lenny tried to go more pop on 5 and that is when he lost me.

I need to check out the new one though.

i disagree. "5" is his most upbeat rocky album. Every album before and after has been loaded with ballads.
