Title: Axl and Chris Cornell Post by: jameslofton29 on May 17, 2005, 05:07:24 PM Does anyone remember back in 1999 when Axl was gonna be on 2 tracks on Chris Cornell's solo album? I was really looking forward to this collaboration. Obviously, nothing came of it. Does anyone know why? Did Chris get into it with Axl so he just scrapped it? Maybe the songs were really good and Axl wanted them for himself? Who wrote the 2 songs? If Axl wrote them, maybe they could be on CD. Anybody got any info on this?
Title: Re: Axl and Chris Cornell Post by: jarmo on May 17, 2005, 05:33:22 PM I don't remember that.
I think this is the first time I hear this rumor.... /jarmo Title: Re: Axl and Chris Cornell Post by: Ali on May 17, 2005, 05:56:11 PM The only thing I remember is that Josh Freese laid down drum tracks on a bunch of songs on Cornell's solo record. I also remember Cornell asking Freese what it was like to play SCOM with Axl and a bunch of punk guys.

It wasn't a rumor, it was a fact. MTV mentioned it several times and I also read about it in a magazine. When the album came out, I got it and the songs weren't on the album. I was pissed!! I always wondered if it could have been a publicity stunt. But wouldn't Axl have sued if it was a lie?

I always wondered if it could have been a publicity stunt. But wouldn't Axl have sued if it was a lie? "...it was a fact." - how so? Because MTV and a couple magazines said so? If you rely on MTV and magazines (i.e. the media!) for fact then am I to assume you live a life of complete fiction?! I need not remind you of the many fictitious facts that we read and hear these days regarding Chinese Democracy's release. When it comes to musicians, movie stars, etc., the media is our only source of information. The reason I said fact is because it wasn't some bullshit internet rumor. It came from several sources. According to your braindead logic, Illusions was never released because MTV and some magazines said it was.

I myself couldn't imagine Axl on that album.?
Title: Re: Axl and Chris Cornell Post by: jameslofton29 on May 17, 2005, 06:53:24 PM I cant believe no one remembers this! Do any of the people that have inside info on GNR still post at this site? Maybe they could tell us what went on between Axl and Chris.

Title: Re: Axl and Chris Cornell Post by: jameslofton29 on May 17, 2005, 07:00:42 PM Thorazine, that could be the reason Axl wasn't on the album. Maybe the songs they worked on together didn't really fit with the other material on the album. So Chris left it off.

Title: Re: Axl and Chris Cornell Post by: jameslofton29 on May 17, 2005, 07:18:47 PM Izzy, if I had "evidence", why would I be asking other people about it? And if you dont like my posts, why are you constantly reading and critiquing them?
