Title: New Izzy Stradlin Album - Official Update Post by: nyd on May 16, 2005, 06:41:31 PM 16.05.05 - Rick Richards Answers Your Questions. . .
First of all thank you for all the fanmail sent in to Rick Richards (for you non Izzy fans, Rick is the lead guitarist on all his albums - he was also in the Georgia Satellites, and one of the best slide guitarists in the world :smoking: ) Here are the answers to all the questions sent in: From Edwin (Netherlands): Is Izzy still planning on releasing Like A Dog or has he moved on onto new projects? Rick: We have a new project in the mixing stages that we cut in Miama at Criteria Studios. Thanks for the compliments. Later, Rick Richards. From Scott Jenkins (New York): Don't know or expect you to remember me but I'm from New York. Last time (as far as I know) that you played here (as the Satellites) was in Vernon, NY opening for BTO. I raised a sign that said "Play Memphis" which you did. Later on, myself and my 2 friends were invited by you and Rick Price to party which we definitley did, backstage. We talked about Izzy and a whole buncha crap. I think I mentioned to you that if you ever cut a solo album you should cover Woodys' "We All Get Old". Just wondering if ya remember that and when the hell are you coming to upstate New York again, as Satellites, Hell Hounds or whatever! Rick: Scott I remember you from New York... Hope to be up there again soon. There's no solo project in the works, yet... but I have new material with Izzy in the mixing stages... Should be released one of these days~Cheers, Rick Richards From Andrew (UK): I just wanted to show my support and hope you will come back to the UK for a few gigs soon? Rick: Andy, Hey, would love to come back to the UK...maybe in the next couple years! Thanks man! Rick Richards. From Will Villiers (UK): A few years ago I read that you, Jimmy Ashhurst and Charlie Quintana were going to tour as the Ju Ju Hounds again. Did anything ever come of this? Rick: Will, Jimmys playing with Buck Cherry and Chalo with Social Distortion... would love to see the old Ju Ju Hounds together... but don't think it'll happen... A lot of questions were repeated by many different people. Here is a summary for those who asked: Do you still tour? Where can I find the information? Pollstar.com Who are your musical influences? Beatles, Stones, Faces, Dylan, Cream, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, George Jones... Finally, Rick also sent along a photo which you can view here (http://www.izzy.34sp.com/rick.jpg). Many thanks to Rick and Lorilee for organising this. Title: Re: New Izzy Stradlin Album - Official Update Post by: tomass74 on May 16, 2005, 09:22:37 PM Izzy rules and all but when I hear about his projects these days it's kinda like, who gives a flying fuck. He makes it a pain in the ass to even find a copy of his album if he even releases it at all and he never tours anyway except for maybe Japan...
Title: Re: New Izzy Stradlin Album - Official Update Post by: nyd on May 16, 2005, 10:35:40 PM Dont think thats his fault though. Fair enough he doesn't want to tour, but record companies in the USA/Europe just arent interested unless your Britney Spears nowadays. Japanese releases are easy enough to get hold of, they come up on Ebay all the time, and can be ordered direct from www.cdjapan.co.jp and arrive within a week or so.
Title: Re: New Izzy Stradlin Album - Official Update Post by: Doc Emmett Brown on May 17, 2005, 03:08:48 AM you know what's funny. if this same interview had been Tommy or Dizzy instead of Rick Richards, I would have bitched because he's so vague about the album's release date! "Should be released one of these days~Cheers, Rick Richards" It's like saying "SOON" ;D
Is Izzy as reclusive as Axl? I love both of 'em, but they're both frustrating. Is it cheaper to record/mix in Miami than LA or elsewhere? Is that why they did the new album over there? Thanks for the news. It's always good to hear about him. Title: Re: New Izzy Stradlin Album - Official Update Post by: IzzyDutch on May 17, 2005, 01:24:12 PM Izzy recorded his stuff in lot's of different places, I guess he likes to record at different kinds of studios. He recorded in Trinidad years ago (songs appeared on 117 degrees) and he said about that; "The rates are the same as in America, but there they serve you free breakfast at the hotel and you can see leagunas (or how you spell it) running around".
He already had a 1000 copies pressed of Like A Dog (2003) but he probably didn't have any luck with signing a deal and just moved on. Sure his albums aren't easy to get but of all (ex) GN'R members he has released the most albums ;) Title: Re: New Izzy Stradlin Album - Official Update Post by: 2NaFish on May 19, 2005, 11:29:10 AM i can't wait to hear izzy's new album. defintely my favourite ex-gunner.
by far and away the most impressive output of any of the original 5 since the band's disintegration in the early 90's. rock on iz. |
