Title: The Sopranos (the best damn show on TV) Post by: jgfnsr on May 12, 2005, 12:36:48 AM I don't know if a thread about the series has ever been started before.
I'm a huge fan who has the first four seasons on DVD and am waiting for the final season due next year almost as much as I am Axl's friggin' album. I know I CAN'T be the only Sopranos fan here.? How 'bout anybody else??? Title: Re: The Sopranos (the best damn show on TV) Post by: Timothy on May 12, 2005, 12:59:55 AM I love the show  . : ok:
Can't wait till June 7 for the new season on dvd. Title: Re: The Sopranos (the best damn show on TV) Post by: journey on May 12, 2005, 01:03:50 AM I used to be a huge Sopranos fan. I even named my cat after one of the characters.

i can't wait for the next season. less than a year to go (i think). i didn't expect last season to be that great, but it was as good as ever. the story line with his cousin was awesome. and the last show was incredible. Title: Re: The Sopranos (the best damn show on TV) Post by: Lisa on May 13, 2005, 05:30:17 PM I love it ;D I just got into it last season so I have been busy catching up : ok:
Title: Re: The Sopranos (the best damn show on TV) Post by: loretian on May 13, 2005, 05:45:39 PM I love the show too. I can't wait for the sixth season, but I really doubt it'll be the last one. Every season except for the 2nd and 3rd ones have been labeled as the "final season" (originally the show was only going to be one season long)
I have to say, Deadwood has quickly been winning me over. It's nearly as intelligent as the Sopranos, but it makes up for it in other ways. The two shows are very similar, though. Title: Re: The Sopranos (the best damn show on TV) Post by: the dirt on May 13, 2005, 05:46:05 PM Yeah, great show, one of the best crafted on tv today, probably the best for the most part.
I'm looking forward to some loose ends possibly being tied up in the last season, first and foremost things to do with "Pine Barrens", but they probably won't be able to cover them all (hey, we all have imaginations though) because it's going to be an eight episode season, if that. Title: Re: The Sopranos (the best damn show on TV) Post by: DoubleTalkingJive on May 13, 2005, 09:17:43 PM I love The Sopranos 8)? I wish it wasn't so long between seasons.? Tony rocks : ok:? I liked in the 1st & 2nd season when they would throw alot of Italian phrases in the shows, by the 3rd season they cut back on that.? ?Some Italians that I know don't like the show, they say it gives Italians a bad name, that when non-italians watch the show that is what they think all Italians are like.? I don't agree..? Anybody else hear people saying this?

For the record, the next season will have at least ten episodes.? That's what David Chase has said he wants, which will make 75 episodes altogether, ready for syndication.? However, last I read, HBO is trying to convince him to do the regular number of thirteen episodes for the final season. You're right about there being quite a few loose ends to tie up. One, which you mentioned, is the "Pine Barrens" episode.? I've always figured that, sooner or later, Tony and Paulie would have to deal with the Russians.? Italians vs. Russians = BLOODY!? :nervous: Another, if I remember correctly, is since season 2 or 3 Raymond Curto (of the Soprano family captains) has been an informant for the feds.? And speaking of the feds, you know they are going to want to know what happened to Adriana.? On top of all that, while I could be wrong, something tells me Johnny Sacks is going to turn rat. However I believe the upcoming sixth season will be the last. :( :'( Title: Re: The Sopranos (the best damn show on TV) Post by: jgfnsr on May 14, 2005, 08:24:56 PM I love The Sopranos 8)? One thing that makes the show so good is that it isn't afraid to "pin the tail on the donkey."? David Chase is of Italian descent, as are many of the programs stars.? While the vast majority of Italians have nothing to do with organized crime, the fact remains that the Mafia, mob, Cosa Nostra is made up of those who are Italian and/or Sicilain; all though, in recent years, the rules now are that only a member's father has to be Italian. As for those who say the show gives Italians a bad name, let's not forget that the Italian-American Civil Rights League was started by Joe Colombo, boss of the Colombo crime family in New York. Yes, I do think Italians like the show then don't like it. And as I tried to explain to this person who was arguing with me about this subject, it is a fact that some Italians are in the Mafia and it does exist. I think it's pretty naive to be an Italian and watch the show and think that everyone now is going to think that all of us are in organized crime. These same Italians will say..Goodfellas was a great movie or The Godfather is a classic and they are but doesn't mean that we are all that way :hihi: Title: Re: The Sopranos (the best damn show on TV) Post by: sandman on June 07, 2007, 01:55:23 PM i can't wait for sunday night! although it's mixed emotions as i'm sad to see it end.
anyone have any predictions? paulie working with NY or the feds is the popular guess. which is why i don't think it will happen. |
