Here Today... Gone To Hell!

Hey all its been a LONG time since I posted on the board but i still frequent it everyday and still visit the site everyday.

First off I just wanted to say great job jarmo on the site and there seems to be TONS and TONS of people all over the world who are still interested in the mammoth (or once was at least =) )  Guns N' Roses.

Now to my post...I am a HUGE GNR fan. I've seen tons of bootlegs and audio clips from past GNR concerts and I would say that I know my stuff.  Now out of everything that i've seen in heard I would crown Axl's performance at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert his shining moment thus far.  I mean the goosebumps I get when I watch him and Elton John do Bohemian Rhapsody is unreal. Maybe its just the pyro...but when he comes out the crowd goes absolutey BONKERS. Axl and Freddie were a lot a like in my opinion...true entertainers who gave a wicked stage performance everytime. Same goes with "We Will Rock you" when Brian May is nodding his head back and forth with a huge smile while the crowd sings and claps in unison to every beat and lyric.  I think he knew that Axl had a huge part of Freddie in him and he has what it takes to get it done.

So all in all even though it was only a brief 4 minutes I think this was Axl's true shining moment out of all live stage appearances.

Lets hear your opinion on what you thought Axl's shining live moment is..

I agree .Right when he comes on stage and sings that first part its jsut amazing..I think that song and Civil War from Paris 92 are his shining moments

I love when he hit the stage for the tribute and the fireworks go off and he twirls around.. That was awesome, crowd going nuts... :smoking:

I love the mercury tribute from a "performance" standpoint just like I love the VMA's "medley" with the new band , but again like the VMA's I dont think axl sang his best at the mercury tribute.  :-\  Dont kill me , just an opinion.  :peace:

I wasn't blown away by the Axl-Elton thing, although some were. The highlight of that show was "We WIll Rock You". The members of Queen playing it and then Axl walks out right before time to sing it. Perfect timing! One of Axl's best moments. A little known fact about this performance is there was potential for a riot to break out. Someone had a "Fuck Axl" sign in the crowd. It really pissed him off but he kept performing. Had this show not been a tribute concert, Axl definitely would have stopped the show! And the shit would have hit the fan!

Regarding the FM Tribute, I remember at the time it was a controversy that GnR were playing, because members of ACT UP were planning on protesting due to OiaM.  Although, the band was well received (they were huge in England at that time) and everything went off without a hitch.

The Freddie tribute show was definitely a thing to behold, a great moment for Axl for sure.

Im not saying it was his best moment as in SOUND and quality wise ...I'm taklking the fact that the members of Queen picking Axl to do Queens 2 biggest hits of the nights in honor of Freddie was awesome and showed just what kind of an entertainer Axl was and how he was respected then.

Axl performance of We Will ROck you is picture perfect.  I also enjoyed slash's part in the begining but thought he could of played a larger role and Tonny Iommi could of played a smaller role. 


Non highlights of the Night include Liza Maneli (or however you spell it) ruining WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS in one of the worst covers I have ever heard.  And was it just me or did Duff wander onto stage during the end of We are the champions?

I was.

Very cool of them to let Axl do that part of the song. It made sense.

I think those were great year in music, and it defenitely put GNR very high in the world, there's no one in the world at that time that wouldn't know who GNR was, dreadfully those were the days of my life  :'(

It was one of the greatest live perfomance of GN`R at all. Real live magic...Maybe the best band there was GN`R.

The Freddie Tribute and the Paris '92 concert totally changed my opinion about GN'R and changed my life. I Love it all,  the GNR performance included and the We are the champions at the end where they are all hugging and singin out loud.  Thats fucking GNR to me they were so proud to be there together.  It's a shame they couldn't maintain that friendship.

I think Axl thrives on a big stage like that - he fucking owns that stage.  I'd hope that he at least gets a call if another Live Aid or something happened.   The world needs Axl Rose.
