Title: Kasabian
Post by: Evolution on May 06, 2005, 02:42:08 PM
They are fairly well known in Britain right now and are starting to make some noise in the US.

Any Kasabian fans on the board?

i've listened to the album a few times. Its pretty good, and from what i've seen of them i quite like the members.

Something about them that just makes them seems like a poor version of the stone roses tho. Defintely worth a listen for those that haven't heard them tho.

Lol, they are virtually a Stone Rose's tribute band - totally rip off of a vastly superior group

Yes, the first time I heard one of their songs on the radio I thought it was the Stone Roses. I was thinking why are they playing a b-side Stone Roses song on a pop radio station.

 :smoking: Izzy? :smoking:

They definitely made some noise at the Coachella festival.  I like em, they're a fun band.

they got a lot o play on Kerrang radio in the midlands. its funny cuz on tim shaws asylum they twist names of the band as a joke and they call Kasabian "Kaz and Brain" and they calld processt beats "processt meat.

they have something, whatever it is, maybe it's potential, but because they don't have the means to use it, they'll promptly vanish off the scene quicker than you can say John was a scientist.

I like them, pretty decent music compared to some of the other new bands coming out of Britian at the moment. :peace:

Like  them a lot, why does Bloc Party and Franz Ferninand get all the credit?

It's the 60's trousers! Kasabian are so much more interested for my money. The synths are so much better in slow songs or fast paced IMO.

Got so into the Stone Roses a while back that in my desperation to get more of heir stuff i bought Kasabian's album (they are virtually a tribute band anyway..)

Really impressed, excellent album - the singles being the real standout tracks but impresive throughout

Im really looking forward to the new album. Not much info on it so far except that songtitles include "The Stuntman" and "Shoot The Runner". More guitar based they said.

Have you guys heard 55 and The Nightworkers? Non-album songs. I can hook people up if they're interested

stone roses rip off? has anyone heard primal scream's XTRMNTR album? Kasabian are influenced by both primal scream and the stone roses, I thought the album was great at first but it has little lasting power, i cant listen to it nowadays.

I definitely see wher you are coming from with the likening to primal scream in their electronic heyday (1997-2002). The sound Kasabian have is a lot tamer and nowhere near as dark, heavy or poltically charged as this period in Primal Scream's career. Almost? every UK guitar/indie band is compared to The Stone Roses and i can see this too in Kasabian.

The album is a good listen, nothing too challenging and you can lose yourself in it and just relax to the beats. I Believe this album was all recorded in a country house in England and all on pro tools, without the use of a live drummer.

Having seen the band in Glasgow Barrowlands in December 2004, I can tell you the tracks come across just as good as on the album and maybe even better. It was a fun night and would recommend anyone who slightly likes them to witness them in a live setting. The band also has two frontman with the singer and guitarist both swapping about roles as lead vocalist on tracks.

In Summary a good electro/indie/rock band from the UK, in my opinion better than Franz Ferdinad and The Kaiser Chiefs

You know what? I've heard of them but never actually sat down and listened to them, they seem like my kind of band judging by the descriptions on this board. Is it worth buying a random album of theirs?

Different, but in a very good way. The heavy keyboards are gone, replaced with a dirtier guitar sound and strings.

You will love it! Standout tracks are Stuntman, By My Side and Sun Rise Light Flies.
