Title: why aren't more books written about Axl Rose?
Post by: RichardNixon on April 24, 2005, 01:30:22 PM
There are a lot of books about--U2, Cobain, R.E.M., Eminem, Morrison, Lennon, but not Axl Rose. That sucks monkey balls.

Dont be surprised if the album drops and a book follows, itd be pretty cool to have some kinda insight into the Chinese D saga and Axl's life in general..Id be far more interested in a memoir or autobiography written by Axl himself then any other author. At the moment I think its just theres a bit of relaxed interest in Axl and GnR, that a large scale novel wouldnt be profitable..

I think its just cause nobody knows enough about the guy to write a book that people would want to read.  To write a really interesting book about Axl it would have to include some new stuff that people didn't already know about.  And to find that stuff out you'd either need to get Axl to tell you about it, or someone that knew Axl well to tell it.

Probable afraid of getting sued.

And like other have said know really know that much about Axl . And getting the info you would need to write a book on him ,would probable be hard then actually getting a copy of Chinese Democracy.

If I had a dollar for every book that has been written on Kurt Cobain and Nirvana I would have a private jet on standby.   :P

I think a big part of it is that people don't take him seriously. Compared to Jon Bon Jovi, David Lee Roth, Vince Neil, and most of his peers, he looks pretty impressive.

Compared to Lennon and Morrison he doesn't seem as impressive.

Songs like Get in the Ring and Shotgun Blues don't help the cause very much. Maybe the new album will change all that. Maybe he knows that and it's the reason he's so afraid to put it out.

There would be a billion things to write, but are yo uall sure you want to know them ?

You like axl as a myth, as he was portrayed by medias, by people who come from his past too, you like the wild axl, what would you want to know if you were to get told he has quieten down so much that he liles gardeing and reading ?

I mean, are these really things you want to know ?

As for his past, are they things you " ought" to know ?

Or maybe there's nothing so particular to write home about :P ....as far as he hasn't fallen into net addiction, hopefully.

I read somewhere that he spent a lot of time reading and painting after he quitted school.
If so, his likings haven't changed much apart from... er, gardening.........garden....atishoh!!! <- bless me, Hay fever :'(

You can't write a book about a guy who doesn't leave his freakin' house. ::)

first you dont know if he leaves his house or not , just because the general idea is that "Axl is hidden" doesnt mean that he is in fact in a room of his house hidden from the public.

but if thats the case and you are Axl Rose that makes a book . like a howard huges of Rock .

No.... I like Axl the mad musician. Never really bought into anything the media had to say about him.

"Tales of  unbalanced Recluse of an artist: The Axl Rose Story."

I hope that book never comes out.

I`d much rather see- " Comeback- The rebirth of  Axl Rose & GNR"

Fuck man all the GnR books suck, I want an indept autobiography by W. Axl Rose. The Insane Clown posse (whether u like them or fucking despise them) has an autobiography written by violent J and its fucking amazing he put in every little detail (Flattering or not), that would mean if Axl put a book out there like that it would be 10 times better. Cause most ppl dont give a shit about ICP (cept ppl like me of course lol) but everyone remember GnR. So I would Imagine that a serious 450 page Autobiography on the life of W. Axl Rose would be amazing, especially after the release of Chinese Democracy (If it ever is released lol) or even in the wake of the release when hes starting to get the press hyping up the forthcoming album. AND THATS ANOTHER THING, WHY ARE THERE NO FUCKIN GNR DOCUMENTARY DVD's. Im a big 2pac fan, okay I have 6 dvd's about him. SIX!!!!!!!!!! Thats an awful lot of fucking dvd's about js one person, and theres not one fucking REAL gnr dvd (thats biographical). Why cant someone like Nick Broomfield get up off his ass and make a goddamned documentary about em, if u have the means all u have to do is a little research and then u can make a pretty decent goddamned dvd. Talking about each band member lives, how they came together, when they were struggling to get signed, Im talking the rise and fall of GnR in a two hr documentary. And thats another thing why is the behind the music on GnR one hr, I mean Aerosmith (Whom I like very much) get two hrs and it was one of the most boring fucking BTM's I ever saw, and GNR gets only one!!!!!! Thats fucking retarded. :::::takes a breath::: Okay Im rambling but a few GnR documentaries and an Autobiography by Axl would really be fucking great considering how legendary this band is, I mean come on its not like nobody will buy em. Axl's lived a crazy fucking life so I know his shit will be entertaining and if they went balls out they could make a killer fucking GnR documentary.

But thats js my opinion  :peace:

Maybe a movie could be made about Axl Rose. Get Ashton Kutcher to play Axl, and all the 11-20 year-old females will show up.

It seems that suicide is a way to increase your popularity if you're a star.
Therefore, people remember Cobain more and write books about him. A star's death affects the public more.
Thank God, Axl's alive and forgotten.

Maybe that's what Axl's actually been doing all these years - writing his memoirs, and that's why he hasn't put out ChiDem yet... he hasn't finished his memoirs yet! When he finishes those, he'll release ChiDem, and then the book!!
I didn't actually think about this theory until I read this thread! HE'S WRITING A DAMN BOOK!!
I suspect that the reason he keeps delaying ChiDem is because he keeps remembering different things to put in the memoirs!! My opinion of Axl is that he's a perfectionist and he wants EVERYTHING in the memoirs, but he has an idea of when he's gunna release it. Unfortunately, there's so much stuff that the book is gunna end up as the rock version of Lord of the Rings and he's gunna take another 30 years to finish it. I bloody hope not though. I hope he finishes it soon and then he'll release ChiDem and the world will all be HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!! For about a week, and then we'll want another album, which will probably take another 10 years!
*sigh*

Why write an entire book about a guy that can't even get a song written and delivered to a radio station.  I guess you could call the book "What could have been: The GnR Story".  The dream is over....
