It seems that the upside down cross was mainly used by protestants some hundreds of years ago, and by St John followers?

But as usual, satanists, trying to mock any religious symbol they can, have used this symbol that is known today as the emblem of " pure evil", which was, in the past, a representation of the catholic church.

I highly doubt that axl should be a satanist.

It was quite fashionable back then....I would say he wore it for the same reason I did back then ....as a symbol ?of anti organised christianity, cos of all the BS that organised christianity involves itself in...GNR was still anti establishment at this point (well somewhat), and organised religion for the most part has been a bad thing....but thats a jungle topic.

Izzy, I was being sarcastic!  Just doing a little Catholic bashing here this morning.  As for the Pope/Nazi being a Satanist thing, how many Nazis would you classify as "good God fearing men"  or would it be more accurate to call them "evil"?  Therefore, in my opinion, the Pope is an evil Nazi bastard that works for the Devil himself!!

I don't think all Nazi were evil not many actually they were just fighting for their country they didn't have a choice, just as many of the allied forces in WWII were probably bad people.
And last but definetly not least there is a difference between being evil and worshiping Satan.

Izzy, it sounds like you are sticking up for the Nazis.  Most of the Klan are Christians, are you going to justify them too?  As for your last sentence, wouldn't Satan be equally pleased at both people who worship him and are just evil and do his work.  Hitler, Stalin, Mao, etc. did not openly worship good ol' Lucifer but I am sure they have nice seats in hell next to the boss for their job well done.

I know what u mean Iz, Im a Catholic Im not DEEPLY religious but I do celebrate my faith in small ways, however I have alot of friends who are ANTI-RELIGIOUS and I dont get down on them because of their beliefs and they dont come down on me for mine.......well....sometimes lol but still that doesnt necessarily make them evil ppl.

Having grown up in a religious cult...and having ?grown up in the early nineties when the whole satan thing was in....and having been a regular at a goth club in the mid 90's when again the satan thing was cool....let me tell you,... each and every one of the band members, followers and so on that was into the Satan thing that ive ever met....were WITHOUT exception the most piss weak, scared, lame, cowardly people Ive ever met. Seriously spineless pathetic people trying to be scary. Yet scared of everything themselves and unable to function.

I doubt very , very much Axl got suckered into that whole fad. Its teenage i cant fit in crap.

Mabey I am sticking up for them, mabey I'm not. I read a book from the library a few years back about a young boy around 7 or eight years old who grew up in Nazi Germany. The story brings him up to the age of 17-18 after he's gone through all the junior scout type Nazi groups, Jungvolk, Hitlerjugend ect. He learns how to camp, use armyknives and eventually operate firearms, all the time it's like a summercamp they aren't taught to hate anyone and they didn't hate anyone. At the end the boys best friend is killed by the Americans on they're first mission. They never did anything wrong they just were asked to go down and monitor the battlefield so they could learn and they were shot dead. (TRUE STORY by the way)
My point is that being part of a group: Catholic, Nazi, KKK, Satanist or anything else doesen't neccesarily make you a bad person.

All righty, here goes:  No, Axl's not a satanist.  I love that subtle touch of the upside down cross at the church...why?  Because it is there to demonstrate the character's anger at god for taking away such a beautiful person.  It is beautiful art.

On the side topic of Nazis, etc.  Nazi soldiers wore belt-buckles engraved with the phrase, "Gott mit uns," which apparently means, "God is with us."  Christian school prayer was mandatory in 1930's Germany under Hitler.  Hitler also was a big "family values" fellow who spoke out against perversions like homosexuality......heck, if ya take away his hatred of Jews, he'd probably fit right in at the Republican National Convention here in the U.S.   :hihi:

My guess, Axl is like me.  He probably does believe in god, but with all the hatred and intolerance he sees emanating from the various organized religions' hierarchies, he's like, "fuck that!"  Just my 2 cents.   ;)
