Here Today... Gone To Hell!

I was watching muchmore music in Canada and they had a clip about Slash and how he played the national anthems at the Blue Jays game opener! He had a brief interview with the catcher from the Jays and he asked slash what would occur first the Blue Jays winning the world series or Chinese Democracy being released Slash laughed and said Blue Jays winning the world series for sure hahah? ?

Oh get over it. Of course he's gonna say that. Its definately tongue in cheek get a sense of humor.

What rational person actually has faith in Axl's ability to write record and release an album??...I have HOPE, but faith is a different kettle o fish.

Slash has plenty of reasons to say much worse, and despite an occaisional dig at Axl he is pretty polite.

Axl on the other hand says stuff like Slash didnt want GNR to be sucsessful, that he didnt want to make another AFD style album (yeh right), that he is lazy (ermm yes Axl...Slash is the lazy one ?riiigght) etc etc etc.

So in my book Slash deals with this stuff in a very disarming way.

I was watching the Redsox vs BlueJays on local Redsox networks and they were discussing Guns n' Roses and Velvet Revolver for about 20 minutes.  It was funny as hell.  It started becasue they were showing footage of Slash playing the national anthem before the game.  It was awesome too.  The Jerry Remy and the other guy starting talking about Velvet Revolver and their new music.  How Slash use to be in GNR.  I am telling you they were talking about for the hole 1/2 inning.  Then Jerry Remy was like who was the lead singer of GNR.  and the other guy started talking about how Axl was crazy.  The best part was Jerry Remy said that Axl had visited him in the booth at Fenway a while back and he was scared becasue Axl was a scary looking dude.  He said he feared for his life.  Kid of funny, although I am not sure if it was Axl with the NuGNR or old GNR.

Nice quote from Slash...it's one of those half-joke/half-serious responses.  I know I laughed, and I'm as pro-Axl as they come.  :)

Yeah I really don't know what you guys expected. the BLUE JAYS CATCHER was asking the question, and it was obviously intended to get that response. What did you want?

Well, I gotta say that the only reason why I went to the Blue Jay home opener was to see Slash... my 4th time this year, might I add :)  And it was great!!  I screamed throughout the anthem... and took about 20 pictures throughout his performance.  The funny part was, that before Slash took to the field, rather than stage :) , the only conversations I heard while walking through the Rogers Center were, well, about Slash :) 

I yelled and jumped up and down during both anthems... people thought I was nuts... but whatever.  I know they were the national anthems, but I just could not help myself!! :)  I then reasured people around me that dammit, I am only here for Slash :)

And that was my first, and quite possibly last, baseball game.  Unless another VR or GNR person decides to show up and open the game. 

Anyway, after Slash s performance, Dirty Little Thing was blasted throughout the stadium speakers.  It was great!!

Certainly ALL WE NEED is SLASH...

Eeebs, I'm kind of on the patriotic side and believe in silence during the anthem...but...this is GNR!!!  You rock!  Keep it up friend to the north!  Now if we could only get Axl to tear the anthem a new a-hole!  That would rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   :love:

PS  I think the new members of the band would have given the same response...just a joke ;)

One day when it comes out and Slash buys the album to see what Axl have managed, his laughs will be over. I'm sure he'll say something along the lines of.........hmm......well actually, Axl proved me wrong after all and make a pretty cool album.

cause he will be like some of these hater fans on the board that no matter what axl puts out they will never give it the proper due it deserves.

they will listen with a closed/negative mind and shit all over it regardless of how great it is.

Guys, it's fiction that CD'll be ever released and what'll happen then... and there is a chance that Slash won't like it since he didn't want to go to Axl's 'new direction' that meant making the Nutopian National Anthem again and again...

While Slash has the biggest reason of all to be sceptical about Chinese Democracy, he will also be among the very first to grab themselves a copy whenever it comes out...

Slash has already said that he knows what Axl will release  will be 'awesome'.

You know, all this stuff about it being a "joke" and "its because the Blue Jays catcher asked the question!" are total fuckin BULLSHIT if you ask me.

I think Slash actually paused, weighed both options, and picked the right choice.  I mean, LOOK at the situation.... GN'R bandmembers are scattered all over the planet until at least September, while the Toronto Blue Jays are currently the #1 team in the MLB.  No ties, standing alone at #1...

BTW, do you think its a coincedence that the last time the Jays won the World Series was 1993?  For fuck's sake, the Jays have been in a race with Axl for over a decade, but Axl's doing the same old shit, while the Jays are lighting up the league!

He'll probably say it's good and all that to be polite. Knowing that 50 years from now it will still be his riffs(SCOM and NR) that will make every guitar list with Jungle still blaring at stadiums across the country, and Appetite making every must have Rock list. Slash will take more vindication in that than anything he could ever say about Axl. That is just not his thing to do the whole war of words thing.

What you described might very well be the case 50 years from now.  But it would be more of a tribute to the old band than any kind of a "vindication" for Slash.

Remember, Axl and Slash didn't disagree on how great the old band was.  No doubt they were on the same page regarding that.  It's where they should go later that brought the eventual split.

If any vindication is forthcoming to either Slash or Axl, it will be whether Velvet Revolver's or the new Guns N' Roses' songs are more successful in the end.

Im guessing Slash will be one of those guys that gets an advanced copy of it ;)

Slash has said " I just hope the fucker can finally release the album soon so I can see how he ruined something so awesome," and "Whatever goes on between me and Axl is personal, I'd like to leave it there, thanks." So its not like he's a pussy, he needs his little fans to back him up against Axl. Slash is the man ,he's moving  in the right direction and is moving on with his career. It's not about VR sounding cool or not , no offense to the man Axl but at least Slash is out there still rocking instead of hiding from  the show buisness for so long. Look at how Slash has been , whenever he tried out something that didn't work, he moved on to something new. :peace:
