Title: AXL Sighting
Post by: murseman on March 05, 2005, 05:18:08 PM
I saw Axl at a restaurant in Century City in Los Angeles............ I wasnt sure if i should go up to him and say Hi - but i got the nerve up and did it.  I was shocked at how friendly he was and he looked amazing.  Like he did on the Use Your Illusion tour.  I asked him about Chinese Democracy and he was totaly up beat.  Said that its going to change the face of music.  He made me believe again.  Im still Freaking out!!!

I don't believe Axl would tell an anonymous fan that CD is gonna "change the face of music". He might tell that to a close friend, but not a fan. And if Axl did say this, he's a moron. If he wants to make waves, release the damn thing instead of constantly talking about it!!!

really? I strongly believe in that album, a fantastic success? It's written. It will be a fantastic success. but I doubt it will "change the face of music". But why not? 2 hours ago I just saw the videoclip "Thriller" by Mickael Jackson...wow...that's what i would call "changing the face of music" :o

Title: Re: AXL Sighting

CD is NOT going to change the face of music!! CD is more than likely going to be a bunch of overproduced ballads. I'm looking forward to it like everyone else, but I guarantee it will not change the face of music.

I'm not implying anything. There's no hidden message. I'm just saying that at least the guy seems to be posting from the same state as the one where he says he saw Axl.

Sometimes we have people on this board who met Axl and they're not even in the USA....

Use your Illusion didn't change the face of music and you think CD will?? Hell, the grunge movement occured right after Illusions. And grunge was very anti-rock. So you can still have a great album and not change the face of music. And to whoever called me a hater: I'm not a hater, just a realist.

UYI were the first two albums to ever be released at the same time, debuted at number 1,2

UYI did alot for music

CD will do to today's music what grunge did in the early 90s

killingvector, Let's Go easy on the sick people.

What they say about Axl, GN'R or the album yet to be heard are mere reflex of themselves.
You know, everybody creates their god in their own image.
the virus makes them just too dumb and deaf to anything positive.

Title: Re: AXL Sighting
Post by: jameslofton29 on March 05, 2005, 07:57:54 PM
I'm not biased!! i'm just being realistic!! I think its insane for people to say it will change music based on the 5 songs we've heard. I love the new songs excluding 'Silkworms' and 'Oh My God', but I don't think they will change the face of music. I would love for Axl to do something so brilliant that he changes music forever. Back in the late 90's when hip hop was ruling everything I prayed for Axl to come back and change the scene. But thats not being realistic!! Hell, this kind of discussion could be one of the things holding up CD. Could you imagine trying to release something while a bunch of people are saying its gonna be the greatest thing ever??

This record will not change the face of music for numerous reasons

1) Axl changed the face of music in 1987, and you cant do it at 43
2) Todays market is singles driven..ie..IPODS..and illegal downloading
3) Too many haters dont want him to succed
4) According to Tommy Stinson the album is long, has a lot of epic songs, some of which are self indulgent...that doesnt sell.

I guess every fandom of any big artist has an exaggerated talk or two like that and it's noting particular.

I'm not into tall talks that
I have never said it will change the music scene or gonna be the greatest sales ever.
But at least,
I'm sure it will be the greatest thing ever for many individuals and will change their scene of music.

Hey Jarmo... Doesn't that happen on alot of threads!! LOL!! As far as this supposed "Axl sighting" goes, can you actually picture Axl telling a fan that he's going to change music as we know it?? I just cant picture Axl saying something like that. Even if Axl knew he had a masterpiece on his hands, I don't think he would be that egotistical in front of a fan.

Title: Re: AXL Sighting

I didn't say Axl didn't have an ego, but telling fans he's got this great album is taking it further than he's ever went before. If I would have been standing there when he said that I would have told him to put his money where his mouth is!! Put up or shutup!!

I doubt this happened. He said one fan during the 2002 asked him for an autograph and then yelled him about the old band. I dont think he talks to fans openly, and definitely wouldnt talk about CD.

I recall axl making vague statements about the album to fans following the vegas shows and when approached by fans in Rio.  There are individuals from other boards who claim that axl  told them  information about the first single following the MSG show.

This is another example of how a couple sour apples can take the excitement and hope from tons of other people and just smash it. If you don't believe it (like you have such personal insight as to know what he would or wouldn't say or where he may or may not eat) just keep it to yourself. Don't take away the enjoyment and pleasure from us all. If you think its shallow or pathetic then get the fuck out of our area.

Thanks and may we all have a wonderful day and a bit more hope.  I am just glad to hear that he's looking good again.  Nummy nummy. :D

"CD is going to change the face of music!"

Man Axl is funny. What is the funniest thing he could say to a fan to condescend and fuck with?

Chinese Democracy is going to be the perfect drug. So I dont say this to diss. I can actually totally buy that Axl would say this. But I can also picture him saying to himself "jeezus fucking christ" and sighing when this dude left. He's got to be able to make himself laugh pretty good at this point, and this probably would humour him. But what the fuck do I know?  :smoking:

Don't you think that it's kinda suspicious that the poster has registered just a couple of days ago and written a few short messages, and then suddenly he meets Axl at a restaurant? I think something like that is very unlikely to happen. But this is just my opinion, and I will gladly eat my words when you prove me wrong.

Oh and by the way, check this out: he has written a completely sober post to the cd release rumor thread 10 minutes before starting this thread. Now if I had met Axl, would I not write about it right away and just browse thru threads like nothing had happened. I don't think so...   But like I said, prove me wrong if you can.

To everyone saying "Why hasn't it been in the media that Axl ate in a restaurant!?"
Here is the most obvious reason. ITS FUCKING LOS ANGELES!!! How many celebrities must live in LA, and go out to restaurants!? LOADS!!! That's how many!! And besides, the media nowadays are more interested in scaring everyone to death with their stupid "Oh my god, look at all the street crime! Lock your doors or you'll wake up dead!" shit, and then the other half of it is dedicated to talking about the newest shitty high-school romance comedy and whether or not it'll make the teenybopper playing the lead role a major star.
Oh, and lets not forget that although Axl is a huge celebrity to Gn'R fans, because of the extended amount of time he's had away from the public, the media is just leaving him alone while he's out eating or stuff like that. If he'd just released ChiDem, then if he went out to eat, the media would be all over him and there would be huge pictures in every magazine and newspaper saying "LOOK! ITS AXL ROSE!!!"
Maybe thats the reason he doesn't want to release ChiDem... he doesn't want swarms of paparazzi after him wherever he goes.

To the guy who posted this: Wow dude! Thats awesome! I wish I'd been you! And... he looked like he did in UYI era!? Does that mean the braids are gone? *prays* I bloody hope so! Is that the truth? Pleeeease!! Let this be true!!

So he has the braids which look AMAZING!!!

He was with a few friends who were equally nice and friendly.

He was between courses, so i cant say what he was eating - but the most important thing to me was that he was super cool.  He was genuinely appreciative of the kind words that i offered and it just doesnt get any better than that.

When you meet your idol - and he's actually a good guy........welll.........you know the rest.

I know it seems weird - but honetsly - seeing him and thinking about the music made me seek out this site.  I had never heard about it before and am glad that i found it.  I have always been a fan, but truly have never really gotten into the "fansite" aspect of things before.  Thank you all for the warm welcome and lets hope that we all get to hear this record soon.

So... if you really met the guy, good for you and I'm glad you let us know! If you're lying, well, no harm done because everyone's used to having liars onboard anyway.
