Today I had flashbacks to the early days of the site....  I remember a class mate wondering how I could have so many visitors. I think I averaged about 70-100 / day then and I thought that was cool.

I have a bit more visitors now, but it's still the same site done the same way. Just that more people seem to be paying attention to it now than it was in 1998, 2000 or 2002.

now you have me thinking. I goof around a lot here cuzz I can more so than when my own forum is going. I think .... well actually there are some values for successfully doing something that you actually enjoy & naturally finding a way to share that enjoyment is key. You may not even know it, but there are people that can do it well.

Here is, what I think, is a little hint to success to these sites that I think people seem to 'fail' on (lack of better word). Like you, I have never ever said that "I am the best" or "This is the best place" when wording my site/forum etc. Well I did say "the best of the best in GNR ONLINE ENTERTAINMENT is Presenting Soon!" & I'm a little uncomfortable with my rushed words, but I was pointing out our media productions.? Anyway I think you get the point.? but it's the little things & feelings & trust that make a successful site more so than anything. Thats why I said the comments I did.

Yeah, it's a lot easier to do things for years and years when it's actually fun.

I don't worry about whether or not people will actually like the site.

I like it myself and seems like some others do as well.  ;)

not to get all mushy mushy, but i've wanted to tell you this for a long time. when i first came onto the internet in the mid to late 90s, there were very few gnr sites. most of the ones that were around would be ripped to shreds with criticism for their lack of updates or contents. but once your site arrived it became, as it is today, the place to go.

and while i'm sure dozens if not hundreds of gnr sites and forum have been born and died, you have kept this place running with the same values that you did on day 1, like BP said, putting time into it and holding honesty over a big "scoop" in every single case.

you don't brag. ya sure deserve to, but you don't. you treat everyone with respect, which on gnr forums, is hard to come by from admins and moderators on a lot of GNR boards.

for all these things dude, i thank you. the gnr community just would never be the same without you.

and to everyone whose helped out in anyway on this forum over the years, be it a moderator or whatever, i thank you as well for keeping this place true and real.

Funny, you mentioned that I updated the site sort of regularly even at the start. It reminds me of 1997 when there really wasn't that much going on in the GN'R world. Some people complain today how there are no news or anything to talk about. You should've seen 1997. ;)

No side projects, no arrests, no Greatest Hits album, no riots, no tours.....  ;)

lean times indeed. i had my GNR in 96 aol screen name, which then became GNR in 97, and so on. The only real talk about the band that i could  find going on was here and with the 10 or so people who regurarly visited the Guns N' Roses member room on AOL.

The only thing going on at that point was rumors about who was in the band and who had left.  :hihi:

The only GN'R related release in 1997 was a Gilby Clarke album.....
