What Lyrics do you prefer Don't Cry (Original) or Don't Cry (Alternative Lyrics). I just wanted to know because I asked everyone I know that knows Guns n' Roses (4 people) what they prefered and they all prefer the Original. Am I the only person that prefers the Alternative Lyrics? They may not fit in with the song as well as the Originals but they seem to have more feeling in them ???

I like the alternative lyrics better. I think that the part sung after the guitar solo sounds better than with the original lyrics.

I think I prefer the alternative lyrics. I also think this will end up in the Dead Horse section.

THE ORIGINAL HANDS DOWN, I love the alternate but it doesnt carry that same weight that the original does. ESPECIALLY WHEN I FIRST HEARD IT!!

U know how some songs are so powerful they grab u by the throat, well the original Dont Cry grabbed me by the fuckin' nuts  :peace:

I prefer listening to the alternate, but overall i prefer original because of the meaning behind it. The interview with Axl on the Making Fuckin' Videos Dont Cry, He explained that he was in love with an ex of Izzy's and she turned him down out front of a club on the strip and he broke down crying on the footpath and she sat there with him N' said "Dont Cry"

That story really got to me.

shit, I never knew that story. I wonder why she turned him down, maybe she still had feelings for Izzy and saw him to close to Izzy so they both could be hurt, or the fact that the place wher gnr lived had no shower and he stank a bit.  :hihi:

I like the original best  and I'll tell you why. The volume of the track having Shannon Hoon's vocals is  higher on the original , on the alternate I can barely hear him. :(

He had a beautiful god given angelical voice, you can hear him too on You Ain't The First.

Blind Melon is my favorite band ever right along with GNR.

I love the alternate lyrics version of "Don't Cry" alot more.  Always have. The meaning behind the alternate version is more relative to me.

The alternative's lyrics blow away the original.

The original lyrics seem so commercial for me, the alternative lyrics has some real feeling, it makes you think *in a good way*  :peace:

i like the original better but how many bands could write to different songs to the same music and both of them kick ass. just shows you how truely talented they are.

I think they're both awesome, but the original is better.  The lyrics flow much better in the original.  At points in the alternate version it seems like they tried to cram too many words in.  Its still good though.

I prefer the alternative lyrics, but the original sounds better as a song, but I'm very into lyrics and how they're used to convey emotions n all so I'm gonna say alternative

I heard the original one too many times, becasue any time I turn on the alternative version, it justseems really akward. So my vote is for original.

I like the demo better than the album versions. It isn't polished and its just Axl singing.

The alternative lyrics are kinda better, but the original lyrics fit better into the song.  That's why I got with the original version.

I think the original lyrics fits better with the rhytm in the song. But the final lines in alternate (if you're in need...? noone left to cry to) is one is better than any line in original. But for me..? original lyrics.

You guys remember when there was gonna be 3 versions of Dont Cry on UYI? I think the 3rd version was gonna be the demo, but I'm not sure. Could've been a completely different version for all we know. I guess the band realized putting 3 versions of the same song would be overkill. I wonder what song would have been deleted to make room for it?

Yeah, I love Dont Cry.... and I think that the whole story and everything behind it is so cool... It is an awesome song!!!!
