Tommy mentioned the possiblilty of a tour this summer. We would be blessed with news of a single at some point.

Well, I guess Paul showed AXL who's song that is, Paul looked alittle surprised, like he was waiting for Axl but Axl pulled another no show. Oh well  ::)

As much as I knew it wasn't gonna happen, it would have been also if Axl came out and sang the "What does it matter to ya?" line in Live and Let Die.  I thought Paul's performance was great.  Paul is one artist that Axl will have surpassing as one of the all-time greats.  Not that I am a huge Beatles fan, but Paul has contributed more than Axl.

If you divided HTGTH members between those who think Paul McCartney sucks and is retarted/lame, and those who think he is as close to a genius as pop music is capable of producing (not to mention a badass player who got his chops in slummy Hamburg strip clubs) it would go a long way in explaining some of the pointless arguments that occur here, and also provide two fairly accurate personality types that exist here.

OK, to be very clear...Paul does not suck.  You may not like his "style", you may not be the biggest fan, you may not particuarly enjoy his genre of music.  But he is, was, and will always be a genius.  To even insinuate otherwise is tantamount to sacrelidge. 

He was 1/4 of the single most popular and influential band in history.  He was 1/2 of the major songwriting juggernaut behind that band.  The man has been successful, amazingly, wildly successful, for 4 decades.  He is one of the most prolific and successful songwriters EVER. He's trancended genre's on more occasions that I can count. His talent is undeniable, and is deserving of a certain amount of respect.

So, to reiterate, just so we're clear: Paul does not suck.

Besides, Axl (And the Orig G'n'R) obviously were influenced by him if they remade one of his tunes. 'cause guns version of Live And Let Die is obviously not a parody.

I think the next thing on Axl's Agenda will be to release CD. (so we should have it within 5 years or so from now  :) )

I can't beleive how many people all over internet message boards are blasting McCartney's performance.  Compare his performance yesterday to anything from the last decade of halftime shows, and it should come out on top. 

What else was better, Aerosmith's sell out performance with Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys, or to that crap with Kid Rock, Justin and Janet last year?  No Doubt ... U2?  All have pretty much sucked.

I'm also a bit suprised that people think Axl would have been the bigger draw if he would have shown up ... maybe for a small minority, but most people (and everyone over the age of 40) would have said, "Honey, who was that weird guy with the cornrows that ruined the song?"  Which isn't to say it wouldn't have been cool for GNR fans if Axl had been there, but come on guys, Axl would not have left the typical viewer asking "Paul who?"

Alrite so my friend was saying "maybe axl will come out At halftime with mccartney" and I quickly put him down, mocked his intelligence, shattered his self esteem, etc. But I have to admit when I heard them starting live and let die I really thought Axl was coming out lol Ahh well. i truly believe the next time we hear/see Axl will be when the album release date is set and a tour is planned.

Look at what GN'R have played in the past and you'll see that the band never was doing all these special appearances. They've played the VMAs, the AMAs, Farm Aid and the Freddie Mercury Tribute. Not exactly Superbowl or Wrestlemania.

This comes from Super bowl hafltime show committe. After Paul McCartney's somewhat bland show officials were asked who else was considered. Guns N Roses were considered according to sources, but were rejected by the committe as being too "unpredictable". When asked to clarify they expressed fears over GnR showing up! Apparently the show would have been a cover of Led Zepplin's "Kashmir" followed by "the Blues". Oh, well, it would have been awesome
