Title: quick question
Post by: mitchejw on February 02, 2005, 01:23:47 AM
I just recently downloaded the time in 2002 when Gn'R performed at the VMAs, (where Jimmy Fallon is absolutely beside himself...)

toward the end of the three song performance where Axl is saying..."New York, MTV....GOODNIGHT...."

then there's a long pause and then out of now where he says "round one," that's what it sounds like to me anyway...does anyone know what the hell that was about??? it seems oddly out of place...

It didn't at the time maybe, but i get what you mean.

When loder asked him about CD right after the medley, he said that soon isn't the word so i guess atleast he knew that round two wasn't comming right after round 1  :P

That whole ROUND ONE thing probably refers to the comeback, meaning its a LONG RUN THING and you should expect more than just a tv appereance but also not expect GN'R to take the world by storm. Hard work, actually. Patience...

ya know... i hadn't thought of it like this til i read your post...   : ok:
so what i was thinking was... well...
you know that saying "we have just begun to fight"  (something like that)
well... it comes to mind now

the comeback is not one appearance...
a fight is not one round...

round one is just the beginning

and also... who knows.....
perhaps 'round one' was an indication of that round being won - significant of their having overcome an obstacle.... if only for just that one event -   round one...   more fighting and sweating and boxing and hitting and hard work to go through (like you said conny)  : ok:
