Norway, all do respect bud, but you've got to be kidding me, bucket was sucking if thats supost to be better than Slash. You can tell by the way Axl is singing, there's hardly any energy or feeling coming from the one guitar and Axl. I know the energy will be there with the new stuff.  maybe if we had a studio version of the new guys with old AFD songs we could tell the real difference.  that would be something to talk about.

Lets not get that way Slipdisc I'm not knocking Bucket or anybody here thats just my opinion I've come to share. have some class, don't.

Fun, I like sound threads like this.  :D
Obviously This is no way "old vs new" or "who?s the better" shit, but just a fun fun Sorta Musical quiz, right?
Yeah, he sounds raw here. I haven't ever listened to it note by note this carefully. Hmm.

(btw, complete off topic but my mouse is fucked up.)

PS. Don't talk to me about class, take your celebrity deathmatches to the deadhorse section. Class would be if for once a pefectly good thread wouldn't be turned into a Buckethead vs. Slash discussion within 4 posts. It was nice the first 250 times (and I joined in with great pleasure), but the last half year people seem to get real tired of it.

Robin's doing the solo when Axl is doing the "wha-oh, wha-no-no-no" part, and then Bucket kicks in with his solo after the "Let me see you fuckin' try!". It's extremely easy for me to tell the difference. Robin's playing is looser, while Bucket's is extreme shredding. Richard's somewhere in the middle...

100% right.

It's extremely easy for me to tell the difference. Robin's playing is looser, while Bucket's is extreme shredding. Richard's somewhere in the middle...
For me too. I can tell you the difference any time, even with some pans change. Finck has a lot of overdrive, Bucket and Richard are more into compressor and delay...

I still don't know if Robin will be on right speaker (like in SCOM 99) or left (like those Boston Promos). The soundboards bootlegs didn't help, it changes from each bootleg (maybe it's some encode mistake). But he's on the right side of the stage (public point view), just like Slash....
Buckethead and Fortus shares the other speaker, but Bucket's guitar is really loud when he plays a solo - even if in The Blues I barely hear Bucket playing some "bass notes" only on the chorus.
Fortus rhythm guitar is always low in The Blues chorus, but in the Osaka boot (or Tokyo?) I can hear him better - and his guitar work is awesome!  : ok:

i see, good ears? : ok: very technical advanced but some loss of melody- robin didn't do so bad? :)
uhm is tore it up and shreds notes a good thing?

this is my fav solo from buckethead on old gnr so far, very melodic and listenerfriendly-
so cool when he looks up when the fast parts starts...

he's my fav too,? :peace: exept buckethead, imo rich sounds more bluesy and classic rock, like it?
closest to slash soundwise (from the boots) of the guitarist 2 me...

newgnr has a section called shortclips where you can check the solo's played by each? : ok:

Agreed. His November Rain solo is closer to the original played by Slash than when Finck played the first solo. I liked the Finck version, though.
Can you hear Finck's guitar work in Madagascar while Bucket plays the solo? I think it's really cool. And just after this, he plays some power chords and goes to the ending of Bucket's solo playing some high notes and kick off with the wha-wha riff when Axl starts to sing again. I tried to play as near as possibile like him in my Maddie cover (you can download it HERE (http://www.14yearsofsilence.com/madagascar(mix-final-128k).mp3) - thanks to rnx!).
The 3 guitars line-up rocked so much. Hope they can put someone to replace Bucket and keep their 3 guitar work.  :peace:

i thought the high notes that lasts long was richard-

- (u usually hear it after held togehter )and a high note is played after and lasts a while b4 rythm prepare you 4 the solo...

after the solo when axl sings again i hear the high notes again, which i though was richard, not?

Yes, this is Richard but I wasn't talking about this. I was talking about when the solo is ending and when Axl starts to sing. Richard does play a riff with high notes, but Finck plays another thing at the same time.

after the solo when axl sings again i hear the high notes again, which i though was richard, not?
Yes, this is Richard, as I said above.

Try the Tacoma or Idaho soundboards. If u don't have the Idaho one, just right click HERE (http://d14.yousendit.com/C/090M8K68D1JDD08R7G8SGSMIL6/renamed_Guns+N'+Roses+-+Idaho+'02+-+05+-+Madagascar+-+soundboard+-+www.newgnr.com.mp3)  ;)
If it does not work, try this link: http://s14.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=090M8K68D1JDD08R7G8SGSMIL6
With regular bootlegs, I guess I can only hear it in one of the Leeds audio bootlegs.

Yeah, I'm working on the blues, but I've been so lazy lately...
My hardest work will be learn the Richard's rhythm on the chorus. It's very hard to hear, but I know he's playing something more than power chords... Actually, I can see him playing something different in the bootlegs.
Hey, thanks for downloading my madagascar cover.  ;)

Ok: it's Finck who plays the high notes on Rhiad's chorus. You can tell it because of the slow and full bends and his tonality.  Also, Buckethead didn't play the chorus, he only plays the heavy parts, the solo and that kind of tremolo ending. Richard plays the flat and clean guitar with some full chords ;)

Richard has a kick-ass guitar, that's also why he sounds so great. Nothing can beat a Gibson ES-335 : ok:

You can hear it on the no-vocals version made by some fan... It's pretty cool, actually. You can hear some guitar shreding behind Axl "and the won't give in cause they know.."... So much stuff there but everyting sounds like a mess in the mix. It could be way better...  :-[

These new songs have so many layers it's not even funny. I swear, nearly everytime I listen to a song, I hear something new. People give shit about "why do they need 3 guitars and 2 keyboards" but the layering and texturing in these songs is mind boggling. 'Madagascar', for example, there are SO MANY different strings and loops going on throughout the entire song, it's amazing. No wonder the record has taken so long. It must take them 2 months to get a full song in a final mix, but I'm not complaining...
