Title: HERE TODAY... GONE TO HELL! Post by: shaun on January 28, 2005, 05:56:09 AM This board is becoming slower and slower, and the amount of times it locks up and displays the have patience message is all too often.
What's up with it? Title: Re: HERE TODAY... GONE TO HELL! Post by: DemocracyRose on January 28, 2005, 06:15:25 AM Too many people on the board.. I dont know...
But I guess this thread belongs in the Administrative, Feedback & Help Title: Re: HERE TODAY... GONE TO HELL! Post by: jarmo on January 28, 2005, 07:46:06 AM The server never was optimized in the first place and recently it's been busier than ever before.
Combine those two and you have the answer. /jarmo Title: Re: HERE TODAY... GONE TO HELL! Post by: Evil Ash on January 28, 2005, 08:31:04 AM maybe it's time to start all contributing to the site ?
I don't wanna be the suckass but if you can give me an adres or a bank account, i wouldn't mind contributing to my favorite board :) Title: Re: HERE TODAY... GONE TO HELL! Post by: jarmo on January 28, 2005, 08:56:05 AM Thanks, but at the moment it's an issue of figuring out what exactly is wrong and fixing that.

Title: Re: HERE TODAY... GONE TO HELL! Post by: jarmo on January 28, 2005, 07:32:12 PM I think I might get the answer from somebody who knows about running webservers...... : ok:

GONE TO HELL! Post by: Doc Emmett Brown on January 29, 2005, 02:19:55 AM Jarmo, is there substantial improvement in the board's speed when you dont allow people to lurk?
In a way it's better because I'm forced to do my work instead of reading threads :hihi: Title: Re: HERE TODAY... GONE TO HELL! Post by: jarmo on January 29, 2005, 08:56:48 AM Seems like it runs faster when we have maybe 50 users logged in instead of 50 users logged in and 150 guests...

But right now (10PM Pacific time), there are 9 guests and 21 users. The board locked up for me, for several minutes, and then magically became fast again. I was thinking maybe it's when a user tries to access a really old thread that the board has to do more work, and it hangs on this request? Title: Re: HERE TODAY... GONE TO HELL! Cause He will get mad on your ass... ;D Title: Re: HERE TODAY... GONE TO HELL! Post by: Axls Locomotive on January 31, 2005, 06:11:01 PM Seems like it runs faster when we have maybe 50 users logged in instead of 50 users logged in and 150 guests... /jarmo which means 200 users querying the database 18 times a page, not 50 :P seems like its a little bit quicker eh :) Title: Re: HERE TODAY... GONE TO HELL! Post by: ppbebe on January 31, 2005, 09:08:35 PM definitely quicker. Today I saw the patience mode page only once and just for a few minutes. : ok:
