I stated many months ago on this site that I met him very very briefly at Milton Keynes in 93 but I was only 17 and even though I was truly respectful, I probably still came across as an annoying teenager. If I was to ever get the chance to meet him again, I would say Hi and shake his hand, tell him that I think he is one of the most inspiring people I can think of and that I respect him. Ask for a photo with the man (to replace the one that I had taken from me at Milton Keynes) and then say thanks and leave him to get on with his own life!!

It?s funny, I have seen a few famous people in everyday situations here in England, and I never once felt like making any attempts to approach them. Besides, in every day situations they?re only human and need to chill out like any body else.


Here?s a few of my encounters:

Back when I was at school I got the urge to bunk off from school one day (along with a few friends off mine). It was hot and sunny outside and double (that?s 1 whole hour) chemistry really didn?t sound too good. We headed into the city of London and ended up hanging around Convent Garden. This tall bloke walks past us with what looked like a 3 year old kind on his shoulders and was hanging around the area. It was Billy Connolley (comedian). No one approached him.

This is the best one (believe it or not, i am telling the 100% truth). It was a Sunday back in around 1990. I was in the local sweat shop/News Agents/Corner Shop (what ever you choose to call them) in an area called Lightwater/Surrey (where I used to live). Being a Sunday is was totally dead. I knew the bloke who ran the shop and they had a couple of arcade machines out the back. So it was a hangout place in an area with not much to do. Anyway, this red Mercedes pulls up out side. In walks Brian May (from Queen). He wandered around the shop (it was a pretty small shop) went to the counter, brought something then left. Me and the shop owner were like, that was Brian May. Later on that say, I met up with my sister and I told her, you?ll never guess you just walked in to the corner shop. She played it down, said she had heard that they (Queen) were shooting a video somewhere down the road.

Other people I have seen in the street include the lead singer from Fine Young Cannibals (can?t remember his name). I lived in Hull (north of England) for a while. He was coming out of a shop. The people I was with said the shop was his mums.

so for all u Axl haters...think about why you have negativety twds a man who only put out music that is unique and amazing!

Well, when I met Slash in 2004 I said "it is an honor to meet you" and he laughed, so I probably would say  something similar to Axl.

It would feel just like it did when I met Dave Mustaine.  I'd be awestruck and stupid.  Wouldn't know what to say.  And whatever I was able to muster would no doubt come out sounding just as dumb as I looked at the time.

But it would still be cool as hell.

If I met Axl I'd say,

"Hi Axl! Pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name" laugh a bit, then introduce myself, shake his hand and tell him that I really admire his work.

hi, im new here. i've been coming here a long time. saw this topic & decided to throw my little story in. years ago a saw axl rose outside the rainbow. i was & still am a huge fan. i was so scared to talk to him, so the girl a was with dragged me over to him & interduced (i cant spell, but u get the point). me to him. he was so nice. anyway i asked him at the ritz show if he jumped off the stage or fell. he laughed & said he jumped a little to soon that he was planing to jump, but lost his footing, so he had to jump a little sooner than he wanted. i asked him if he was afraid of getting his nipple ring pulled out. he said he really didnt think about it, but his arm got caught between his legs & some girl keep pulling on it & it was crushing his balls!!! then i asked him if he jumped or fell at the rolling stones show. he said fell. then he started laughing & said that was terrible. he said that looked alot worse than it was. i then asked him for his autograph. there were alot of people standing around at this point. someone laughed when i asked him for his autograph. he told the person to fuck off. & signed my green piece of paper. (that was all i had at the time). so theres my story kinda long, hope i didnt bore anyone.
