Title: RIP Spencer Dryden (Jefferson Airplane)
Post by: GypsySoul on January 13, 2005, 12:51:43 PM
Spencer Dryden, drummer for Jefferson Airplane, died on Jan 11 from colon cancer which had spread to his liver. Spencer went to the DVD release party on Sept 29 at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. It was his last public appearance. Spencer joined Jefferson Airplane in 1966. He was on Surrealistic Pillow which sold over a million copies & featured great JA songs like "Somebody To Love," White Rabbit," & "Embryonic Journey." He performed with the Airplane at the Monterey Pop Festival, Woodstock, & Altamont. He performed at the Fillmore Auditorium & Fillmore West. He was the nephew of Charlie Chaplin. He is survived by his sons Jessie & Jackson Dryden.

God rest his soul.
