Title: Info on Chris Pitman
Post by: Nytunz on January 10, 2005, 11:26:01 AM
Well. I think this is relevant because Pitman is a member of the new GNR! Or at least WAS a member!
He`s been working on project called zawm, with the drummer in Tool (Danny Carey)

u can visit theyr site here: http://crow13.club.fr/music/tool/english/zaum.htm

Pittman, prior to his involvement with Gnr, was completely unknown....not just to GnR fans, but in general. ?So, the running joke is (and you'll find references to it ever time Pittman is discussed, just about) that Chris, during GnR's hiatus, has probably returned to "his job working the grill at Denny's". ?Thus, the Denny's reference in my post.

Sure, it's sorta mean spirited, and SINCE his tenure with GnR I've actually heard a small bit of his stuff and the guys' pretty talented. ?Still.....I just can't let the joke go...maybe it's because I get the "mental image" so clearly whenever his name is mentioned.. :)

well,i think i know what you mean now! But anyway! He played with GNR in the Rio show! And all throgh the 2002 tour, so i guess he has some kind of relevation! I wonder how much work he has done on Chinese Democracy. Or if he is just a touring member!
Anyway im a big fan of the things he has done. With Tool, GNR. And this Zaum prosject sounds great too! Hope he`s still in GNR

I always heard he was the webmaster of gnronline.com .... suits him really cause he would be doing about the same amount of work as he did on the keyboards through the 2002 tour.

I also heard that we should expect ALOT from Pittman next tour because the band all chipped in and bought a used adapter/plugin for his keyboard on ebay! (apparently dizzys wife lisa put one of dizzys up for auction) and now he can actually plug in and play and not just stand there pushing his keys around pretending!

YAY!

 ;)

According to Tommy n Dizzy articles, No worries.

:D Thanks, Nytunz. I?m listening to them right now. and wow they?re interesting!

As erose said, we know little about Chris. This info gives us a rough idea of his musical background. I?m very impressed.

Chris Pittman the guy that toured with GNR with a keyboard that wasn't even plugged in!

If word of this ever gets out GNR will be (even more so) a laughing stock

I just loved the way people on this wrote how they could really hear his contribution - even though he didn't even have the thing switched on :hihi:

Not only do we know nothing about the guy, but the band don't seem to know either - when was the last time Axl or Richard etc even mentioned him???

I think it's funny how nobody even knew Chris was in the band until the Vegas 2001 show.  They didn't even mention him in the press releases and then up on stage, "and we have Chris Pitman on keyboards".

yea, good call!

on the other hand, wasn't there a few people who complained that he(pitman) was too loud in the mix?

If one don't notice pitman you would't care who the fuck played in our beloved band, cuz one couldn't tell the difference between a drum and a guitar. jeez....

Title: Re: Info on Chris Pitman
Post by: Nytunz on January 11, 2005, 06:17:58 PM
agree with erose. Im pretty sure Pitman has alot to do, spes. in the new songs. Madagascar?? Chinese Dem?? The Blues... Remember that Pitman is the Synt. player, and makes the sound effects, and Dizzy is a Keyboard player, and im sure the two guys work great together! So stop all this nonsence!
And im also sure that Pitman will play an even more important role on the new songs we havent heard yet! :smoking:

It was a joke , calm down.

Obviously without Chris Pittman there would be no guns n roses.

the latest rumor is that chris pittman also plays bass under the guise of "butthouse" and was the bassist on tour with brain and bucket this past summer on the giant robot tour.

anyone got good pics of pittman that could be compared to butthouse?  ???

This is an old mention on Pittman, but I figured I'd post it here anyway.

"Actually, Chris Pitman is in Guns' Roses, writing with Buckethead and Brain, and will be playing strange keyboards on the upcoming tour. Chris has written some great tunes, which I was able to hear recently."

Blair Blake (http://www.angelfire.com/rock2/2001axl/articles/ChrisLusk.html) on 7/11/01.

Pittman actually previewed his contributions to CD to someone not in the loop?  :o

Pittman is not butthouse. I saw BH, Butthouse and pinchface first row at a club in boston and it wasnt pittman. I think butthouse's real name is Delray Brewer.

I think Pittman might've actually been called in to fill the void left by Billy Howerdel, as he joined the band the minute Howerdel and Freese left to form APC (early 2000). Funny enough, both Pittman and Howerdel are former Tool associates, so I guess Axl has a soft spot for the bands output, particularly Aenima.

So I guess similar to Howerdel, Pittman mainly works as Axl's computer whiz kid. As far as his keyboards go - well, it's nice to get out of the studio every now and then, huh?  ;D

in fact pittman was even before howerdel left GNR... he started to work with axl in 98, billy left in 99.. billy worked on live era.. and Chris is thanked in Live era...

I heard Zaum years ago. This isn't new news. The MP3s have been on the net for a long time.

And Pittman was the live keyboard player for Tool before he was in Guns N Roses... so he couldn't have been unknown by everyone.

And I don't get why people call him useless. You can clearly hear his work on the soundboard recordings of The Blues and Madagascar for example. Just because he can't be distinguished on the live bootlegs doesn't really mean anything.

Just think of him as another Zig Zag. I'm sure he's not a full time member
