Title: GNR Mtv Icon someday? Post by: Sweet on January 09, 2005, 04:25:51 PM Ok here is the deal, you have probably discussed this issue like a million of times but i haven't so here i go.
I've been watching Mtv most of the afternoon and i've seen Metallica's Mtv Icon, Aerosmith's Mtv Icon and even The Cure's Mtv Icon and sometimes, mostly during Aerosmith's, it even brought tears to my eyes just of thinking what they went throught and they are still together. Anyway I was wondering if we'll see someday a GNR Mtv Icon?. Can you guys picture Axl, Salsh, Duff, Izzy, Matt or even Steven, Dizzy and why not Gilby too? sitting there one day just remembering good and bad times but that now everything its ok? I'd love to see that one day and then watch them take the stage and blow everybody away :'( Title: Re: GNR Mtv Icon someday? Post by: anarchy on January 09, 2005, 07:55:47 PM That will never happen. Ever.
Title: Re: GNR Mtv Icon someday? Post by: neko on January 09, 2005, 08:14:04 PM i really think this is almost impossible .
hey Sweet where are you from? they had the mtv icon weekend here in mexico yesterday , they have the same programs in all the mtvs? Title: Re: GNR Mtv Icon someday? Post by: Naupis on January 09, 2005, 08:15:22 PM It won't happen because as much as I love them, there is nothing Iconic about not releasing an album of new material for 13 years. They really only had about a 5 year window of dominance, and while impressive, hardly calls for Icon status. Icons are bands that prolifically release quality albums for 20-30 straight years, and at least retain some semblance of the original line-up through out the way. GNR were outstanding in their prime, but a 5 year run, no matter how impressive does not make an Icon.

It's not going to happen, bcoz if u remember, in the Aerosmith MTV ICON show there comes a part where they talk abt how AS pulled through all the drugs and ego shit and came out on top even while other bands were disintegrating around them. And get this, one of the other bands they showed was GNR... :yes:Title: Re: GNR Mtv Icon someday? Post by: norway on January 10, 2005, 09:24:31 AM this will not happen i think, not them together,
If it happen, i would think it would be very cliche', the relationship is over so... dosen't you need to have stayed loyal to the original line-up and be active all the time too? be cool to see it, maybe :-\ i dunno there was a time at least  Title: Re: GNR Mtv Icon someday? Hi neko, right now im back in Venezuela so we have the same Mtv :yes:Quote And get this, one of the other bands they showed was GNR... that's right Genesis, I dont remember exactly if it was Joe Perry who said that they have seen how all those other bands that were supposed to replace them disappeared and just there puff they showed Axl's image among others, it was sad :no:Naupis I think that's the most accurated reason why we wont probably see a GNR Mtv Icon :( Title: Re: GNR Mtv Icon someday? But on topic, GNR will probably never do MTV Icon, and I for one hope they don't!! All sides would have to suck up all their pride and exchange apologies, otherwise they'll probably never even get into the same room together. |
