LOL...my wife and I were discussing whether or not to order some Chinese take out last night when she turned to me and said "what, are you hoping to get a fortune cookie with a CD release date in it?"  :hihi:

For a minute there, I couldn't help but think what a clever promotional tactic that would be for CD. No?

I don't know...thought it was cute....just thought I'd share it with you.

I agree..   i think its really cool to hear fans sharing stuff like this
it IS a cute little story
its nice to have a spouse/partner.. or friends in general (off-line) who say these little GN'R related things to us
to me it shows they really care about us.. when they think about things that we care about...
even when they themselves are not so into it
i think it makes them happy to share these little things with us  ;)

and oh... as far as "Fortune Cookies"...
made me think about how we have 'cookies' on our computer...
so an online promotion could tie in with some sort of virtual 'fortune cookies'
i think that'd be cute... er...  *rethinks choice of words based on some board members' inability to appreciate cute*
I mean that would be um... cool... yeah... Internet Fortune Cookies
like one pops up on the official site.. and you click it and out pops a little fortune cookie fortune with the date
they could even make it like a game....    put a whole fuckin' screenful of fortune cookies up... and only one has the actual release date in it! the others could be 'ancient chinese sayings' or some new axl sayings  ;D

I think thats a wicked idea!  : ok:      Maybe the GNR mailing list could send a 'cookie update'...one for a website update, another for a single release, abum date etc - or maybe even a random competition that the lucky recipient gets a ticket to a secret gig.

As long as its fun and doesn't seem like too much of a gimmick if you know what I mean
