Post by: Guigsdaddy on December 30, 2004, 09:52:36 PM
Does anyone know?  I have heard bits and pieces but never the actual story.  Can someone fill me in?

Thanks

Good question, I have wondered the same thing since 1993! Every now and again i'll remember and think 'I must ask the guys on HTGTH' but then I forget again.
All I know is that in '93 when it got released I saw an interview with Slash on MTV and he said (laughing) 'There is a reason behind the title, but i'm not willing to divulge that type of information', so I figured it would remain a mystery and whatever is floating around would just be a rumour.

when the band fired Adler he sued the band , and on one of the claims he says someone in the band (I think it was izzy) stole his lunch -a bowl of spaguettis-, so that is the spaguetti incident.

I've heard people say that the band spiked Steven's spaghetti with cocaine. There was also a rumour that it was because Slash ate spaghetti out of some stripper.

This is one of the great unresolved GNR mysteries for me. I know it definetly refers to popcorn but why?

there is a movie that came out in 1991 called The Linguini Incident, so i wonder if that movie has any relevance

Just to elaborate on what Woody said...

I read in an interveiw w/ Slash and Duff that at one point the guys in GN'R were staying in an apartment close to an Italian resteraunt, and they always used to order spaghetti to be sent up to them. Steven Adler started using "spaghetti" as a code name for his cocaine, and one night he couldn't find his cocaine so he started accusing the other band members of taking his "spaghetti." Everybody was like, "Steven, nobody has eaten any spaghetti!" So, yeah, that's pretty much it. I think it's actually kind of funny, in a sick and twisted way...
 ;)

I was told by Matt, that well the original band was doing a photo shoot, someone threw speg. on Steve.
I have seen a pic of them all eating speg.
I don't know, thats just what Matt told me.

Axl answered this question in one of his interviews that can be found on this site.? The Spaghetti Incident stems from Steven Adler's lawsuit in which he used the example of Duff ( Not Izzy) eating Steven's spaghetti without permission to demonstrate the harsh and unfair treatment he received in Guns.? Because sueing someone over eating spaghetti is such a fucking joke, they chose to title their cover album "The Spaghetti Incident?" as in The Spaghetti Incident? = WTF??

Guns N RockMusic?

I heard from a tv interview, that in the lawsuit regarding "popcorn" (aka. steven), popcorn's lawyer kept refering to "the spaghetti incident" through out the trial.  And gnr thought that was funny that popcorn's lawyer kept on talking about "the spaghetti incident".  however, what actually happened with the spaghetti and popcorn is anyone's guess.  I'm thinkin they got in some sort of a food fight, and popcorn was covered in spagetti!  haha

are these court cases/documents available to the public?  does anyone know??

as for "the luinguini incident" staring david bowie, i think---it was merely a coincidence (according to slash)
