Title: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: insupportofaxl on December 21, 2004, 10:16:26 PM I heard that on NYE, there is a 'very surprise guest/performance you won't want to miss' on MTV's NYE party/bash.
Realistically, could it be anything GN'R related as everyone was saying that in December, we'd hopefully hear news? :P See, that'd be our luck.......everyone has their eyes set for 2005 now and watch we all miss them play or announce a single on NYE as we are all out getting drunk somewhere? Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: christina_rose on December 21, 2004, 10:21:44 PM That would be so cool if it was. I haven't heard anything about it. Realistically, I doubt it.
And yeah, it would be our luck, we're all out parting and everything, and then something spectacular happens. Well, might as well get started. Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? And yeah, it would be our luck, we're all out parting and everything, and then something spectacular happens. Well, might as well get started.? MTV's exact words were this: They just didn't say big suprise, but said its gonna be huge and its worth it! When GN'R were on VMA's............were any clues such as the above given out or was it just the clues by Jimmy Fallon? :headscratch: Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: christina_rose on December 21, 2004, 10:27:43 PM There were lots of clues. Other than the rumors swirling here, during the pre-show, apparently Pink said "I can't wait to see Buckethead" or something like that. AND, when Pink was on stage, she was wearing the same t-shirt Axl wore in the WTTJ video. As for before the VMA's, I don't remember if MTV said anything about it, but then again I don't really pay attention to MTV.

I was channel surfing and tuned in when they said that :peace: I just think it would be so funny if they did play or something big happened because it would certainly catch people by surprise and I can see the posts the next day: "Fuck, I missed it" "Was that GN'R on MTV? I couldn't tell after my 6th beer". :hihi:  Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: Hoosier on December 21, 2004, 11:22:52 PM yea it seems about right that we'd all miss it if it happened. oh the liffe of a gunner :P
but realisticly i would say it would be a band/singer whose already out there doing something right now. i wouldnt expect a rock act, more likley Jay-Z or somebody but if i had to guess a band or two, maybe Montle Crue or velvet revolver Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: vicarious existence on December 22, 2004, 12:02:38 AM With all the Motley Crue hype now, I'd say it's them.
Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: mega_music on December 22, 2004, 12:33:13 AM That would be totally cool Bring in the new year with some information on Chinese! I wouldnt get too hyped up about it. I dont ever remember the ball dropping the last 2 years because I was smashed. I hope we can get some clues that way I will at least stay sober enought to remember what happens.
I do however remember last year I was making out with some hot chick while I was jamming to KOHD from the Ritz show. Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: killingvector on December 22, 2004, 12:58:59 AM I have read some speculation that it's either the Backstreet Boys reformed or justin timberlake reunited with N' Sync. No insider info, but considering MTV, pretty good guesses.
Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: Acquiesce on December 22, 2004, 01:04:53 AM No, It seems too unlikely.
Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: killingvector on December 22, 2004, 01:09:20 AM unlikely for GnR or what I said?
Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: grog mug on December 22, 2004, 01:47:31 AM I hate seeing threads like this, because it gets me so pumped. If this happened it would be perfect, so many millions tuning in to see GN'R once again tear it up. Any way we could find out about this?
Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: The Estranged MrFlashbax on December 22, 2004, 02:31:07 AM very very doubtful.. its probably either motley crue or, as killingvictor said, some boy band.. i'm not getting my hopes up and staying sober on new years eve because of this hunch.. ;)
Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: Kitty on December 22, 2004, 02:57:51 AM its not motley crue, they are performing on jay leno for new years

Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: GUNZforRoses on December 22, 2004, 08:27:08 AM That night of the VMA's (2002) I was dead tired from work and I had the volume on low. I see jimmy fallon whistling patience, he had a blue jean jacket and a GNR t-shirt underneath (barely could see it) and I still had no fucking clue what he was doing. Talk about moron. I found out early the next morning at work listening to 10/10 winz
As far the MTV thing, I doubt its GNR it's probably Usher or some other artist with no substance. Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? GN'R already were at the VMA's, that was a shocker. To see them again on New Years, not shocking. And isn't Tommy on the road????? Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: dont_damn_me on December 22, 2004, 11:56:33 PM GNR are going to have a find a new drummer and quitar player real quick to make that gig! Maybe Axl is calling Brain right to let em know about the show :hihi:

Surprise guest at MTV?again? They?ve done a surprise stunt on telly, as already mentioned. fuck, who is it? damn, well if dizzy is busy (that rhimes)-no gnr Chris Pittman's twin brother will be standing in for Dizzy. Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: Butch Français on December 23, 2004, 01:22:31 PM of course they will! I mean, who else!??.... ::)

Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: neko on December 23, 2004, 02:35:43 PM yeah its pobably nothing big , like someone said MTV has always a big surprise , that it almost always no so big (not including 2002).

Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: jmrgnr on December 23, 2004, 07:31:32 PM U2 (who have an album and tour to promote) or a boy band......GNR were a disappointment in alot of peoples eyes the last time they were a huge surprise and have done nothing to push the hype since the video awards.....MTV won't make that mistake twice they will go with the proven track record of U2 or female hormones of a boy band.
Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: Krispy Kreme on December 23, 2004, 10:38:06 PM Optimism is fine, but this thread is nothing but groundless speculation and wishful
thinking without any basis. Sorry. Keep wishing. It is not going to happen. :'( Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: ccorn69 on December 24, 2004, 06:24:12 AM NO NO NO; gnr wont be on MTV new years. Like someone else pointed out MTV always says that they have some speacial surprise guest that you just cant miss... its standard promo shit. Besides GNR would have to rehearse and with all the members out doing there stuff and from what i gathered from the Brain interview is that there not rehearsing, and also doesnt Dizzy have a show that day anyways... so NO, its fairly safe that gnr will not be the surprise guest
Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: CoMa UK on December 24, 2004, 12:30:05 PM what would be nice,
GnR - Jungle, Chinese Democracy, Paradise City melody. and on a huge screen: Chinese Democracy February 12th 2004 (Im being optimistic here! :P) at the end of the set with Axl being all like, :peace:. But yeah, Motley Crue. Title: Re: Will GN'R be the surprise guest at MTV's New Year's Eve Bash? Post by: Throatrake on December 24, 2004, 04:33:16 PM EVERY MTV awards show has a "Suprise performance from an artist that you dont want to miss"!!!! They are Satan's little helper. They got me a few times. I waste my whole day wondering who the surprise band is. And I waste all night watching, only to be dissapointed by some mediocre hacks on stage. That kind of marketing lie is more satanic than any Slayer cd. |
