Title: Gilby and Dizzy playing together in January
Post by: Scottyl333 on December 20, 2004, 04:25:01 PM
Dizzy and Gilby are playing in the same band during the month of January with the band the Starfuckers.  I wonder if this is a sign.  I know Dizzy has never really held a grudge but maybe Dizzy can talk Axl into letting him back in the band.

It's a great news. I mean
- Richard Fortus: lead guitar/solos
- Gilby Clarke: Rythm guitar

I'm pretty sure Gilby said he never wants to do Rhythm in a band again.  Think he wants to stick with Lead!

Don't read too much into it...Dizzy held (and I think still does hold) relatively civil relationships with all the former members (their grudge is and always will be with Axl). Probably just some old aquaintances playing together.

Where does Robin fit into this? On the curb?

Gilby won't be back in GN'R anytime soon. Remember why he got fired in '94? He wanted to play a Rolling Stones kind of rock and Axl wanted to evolve. I doubt either of them changed their mind.

I thought gilbys relationship with axl was ok, I mean didnt axl go watch gilby, im not sure when it was but i think in the late 90s, at the rainbow or someplace on sunset and axl even got up and jammed with him for a bit, Im not sure where i read it, I think on this board. so who knows but as to gilby as a possible replacement or new member who knows... I think Axl should just stick with Robin and Richard

I thought he got fired because Axl didn't want to keep paying a touring musician for nothing year after year.

Hmm I doubt it, seeing he?s deeply involved with the recent Roots thingy.
But,  Then again heaven knows.

Now think about that? : ok:

Time for you to wake up. It's not 1993 anymore.

Gilby's not in the band. Sorry....

I wouldnt want Gilby back in any GN'R lineup, least alone the current one. Seems a nice enough, happy go lucky guy - but he was always Izzys tour replacement to me, and when Izzy left, that was the end of an era for me.

Gilby and Dizzy jamming has no implication on GNR at all. If Gilby had a shot at getting back in the band, it would have happend a few years ago when Axl sang with Gilby in LA.

that was just a misprint anyway. they are playing at the same place different times. The band is a revolving member kind of thing. One week it is Gilby and Tracy Guns and then another week it is Dizzy and Slim Jim and other people. The advertising is just messed up

Gilby never struck me as a lead guitar player. He replaced Izzy after all.

Robin is lead, Gilby could replace Buckethead, who replaced Gilby, who replaced Izzy. What ever happends, i want Buckhead to remain on CD   :peace:
...and it would be great to see Gilby during any future live shows  :)

Even Axl himself jammed with Gilby back in 2000:

But that didn't mean Gilby got invited into GN'R now did it? ;)

Its not a misprint.  Go to Gilby's website and check it out for yourself.  Its under "The Whats New section".  Gilby is  a great player and I think he would accept if Axl asked him to come back in.

i don't. they shoulds skip the songs he is a big part of-
-like vr just playing gnr-songs that has only a little axl-signature
