Axl could do it himself if he practiced regularly for the past 8 years.

I assume if Buckethead is not going to be replaced, then Robin will more then likely take over the Madagascar solo. Even when Buckethead was in the band, it still seemed to me that Robin was more lead guitar then Buckethead was in the band. Robin has amazing backup vocals on this track already, so I have no doubt he will also be able to handle the solo as well.

Vai.

Inside information from the same guy who promised us we would have the album no later than 2003 at the absolute latest. Is this information as good as that was? Is your "source" at least a little different this time?

As far as who plays the solo, it will have to be Fortus. Bucket did it well because he had a clean guitar sound, and Finck just sounds too damn rough on it. He never plays anything that sounds clean the whole way through, you can always tell when he was playing a November Rain solo, and when they would let either of the other guys do it. I wish frankly they would relegate him to strictly rythm.

When did I ever claim I had a source? HHMMM Dont lie or make up stuff, thanks.  As for the 2003 thing, it was supposted to come out but it never did.  As for Vai, its who I hope they can get to replace BH>

I always wondered why they put him on that type of solo's, listenng to nin it seems it's not his strength

but i like his playing...

skip the buckethead-heavy signature songs just like vr skips axl-heavy signature songs :peace:

I am sorry if I misinterpreted your statement. I would advise next time though if all you are stating it as an opinion that you preface your statement by letting us know it was just a wish. The way you just said his name, considering he is not in the band, makes the average reader think you are trying to imply something, because otherwise why would you have just said his name and nothing else....like he is in the band and him taking over the Maddy solo would be a logical thing to do. (I know it's been reported he has been involved in the project, but would be shocked if he in fact joined the band. He doesn't need it, and I don't see himself ever lowering himself to covering another guys music the way is required of a GNR guitarist. Just my opinion though.)

Richard is more technically sound, and it's a very clean solo. I'd bet on Richard, but of course it depends on who the new guy is (if)...

I'd just like if the new guy, or even Fortus ou Finck, could play it like Buckethead did in Rock In Rio. It's the better version so far, in my opinion.

Answering the topic, I think that maybe the new guitar player, since Finck and Fortus (even Axl) already play something on that part of the song.

I think Finck will play it. I also agree with Fuckin Gunner that the solo at Rock In Rio 3 was better than the much milder version played during the 2002 tour. Not sure why they changed it. I do however, prefer the way Axl sings the 2nd verse in the later versions.

Absolutely agree. He can't play lead guitar I don't why Axl forces him to do it.

???  And Brain is a good drummer so he'd also be able to play the solo?

I would prefer Fink to play the solo.

the guy's lead playing is so tasty!

sure he's not like the other classic lead guitarists we know but his playing has got a signature sound

I don't know why but I like Finck's style.  Its just different from what I'm used to I guess.

Finck. Hes got more of an emotion behind his playing. Fortus can shread like hell, he is more than capable of handling Buckets solos and IMO, they don`t need another guitarist.

They never needed. But Axl thought it was a good idea. And I'm with him... You can always put Fortus to play Bucket's solos, it doesn't matter. But some new songs will need 3 guitars live, I guess. They can handle with 2 guitar players, but it would be way better for them to have another guitarist.

BTW, Finck plays some licks in Maddie solo. Just keep in that way and put someone else (Fortus, new guy) to play the solo while Finck do his amazing guitar work in this song.

Or maybe they could put me playing the solo: Check it out! (http://www.silence-isnt-golden.com/MetaBB/viewtopic.php?t=142&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0)  ;D

Finck.  In my opinion he is the best guitarist in the band.  Fortus is also very good and I think GN'R should stick to two guitarists.  It worked in the old band and, with two keyboardists, it should still work today.  I also think Steve Vai would ruin GN'R if he were to join.  His guitar sound is dated and would give the new band more of an 80s pop-metal tone that doesn't conicide with what GN'R is about.  If it were up to me, I would tell Axl to stick with Finck and Fortus, release the album, and begin touring with the current line-up.

Fortus.
At the VMA'02, Fortus took the lead for "madagascar" and that was the best Live performance of this song ever...

He just played the main riff, just like he did in all other shows. There wasn't a real solo in this song at the VMA's.
