At this point in time Axl does need some help getting a talented guitar player to step in. I would like to know which players are high on Axl's priority list. Probably Navarro is pretty high at the top.

and I know that there are better guitar players... but this one is the most gunner rocker avaliable... I personally don't like that buckethead style for the old gnr songs...

Anyway, I'm sure that Axl would never share his glory (that will come from an album wich needed years to be done) to an almost retired man, although there's a positive thing in the story, Gn'R are blamed to be an one-man band (if you exclude dizzy), Tracii would give some more interest and a good excuse. Tracii is a great guitarist. He's gonna be busy next year though, working with london and scot from brides on new brides material and touring with a guest bassist under a different name (not as Brides of Destruction)

I've always kind of wondered how Tracii sleeps at night... I mean LA Guns are good and all... but to voluntarily leave Guns N' Roses in 1985 will go down in the history of idiotic decisions right next to Hitler's decision to invade the USSR. :P

So, it appears he willingly went on vacation, and that is what caused him to be replaced. If he had been in town then, who knows...

Its not idiotic because things most likely wouldnt have unfolded the way they did if Tracii was still guitarist.  Slash was a pretty big part of the equation.

Slash was a big part of it. No doubt. But these guitarists have big egos. I don't think Tracii sat there and said- wow Slash is so much better than me- no need to worry about it- clearly wouldn't have happened if I were in the band, etc. I'd be willing to bet that deep down he felt like he could have done it as well if not better than Slash.

That's gotta hurt.

without slash in my opinion GNR would be as remembered as LA Guns and thats not very much folks


everyone keeps forgetting that GNR were almost left for dead had it not been for SCOM drilling radio and catapulting GNR to another stratusphere.

who wrote the ever important opening riff and inspired axl and the rest of the band to write it?  Slash!

GNR wouldve still been good but not classic all time great if Tracii had remained


any memorable riffs in that LA Guns catalog? cause essentially thats what axl wouldve had to work with.

No I'm not kidding, I love Tracii but Brides is not my thing, there's maybe 2 songs on that album that I like. On LA Guns he had more freedom to do solos and guitar work In my opinion.

let's see, if Axl brings an unknown yet guitarist noone complains, but if he brings back Tracii at least the half of the fans won't be happy.

my point is, i think the main reason there is  a new GNR in the first place is because axl wanted to go in an entirely new direction.

so my point being, if he was gonna bring someone like Tracii Guns in, who is a great guitarist, and do older type material then he shouldve just kept the old band together.

So i want to hear whatever new and innovative stuff axl had to get a new band to create, i dont want him bringing in guys from the past.

if he is gonna do something new, i say he should stick to that.

Tracii joining GN'R - can't see that ever happening. For one thing, the *new* GN'R seems to be heading in direction away from their early years. From what i have seen of Tracii he is still stuck in 1986, not that that's a bad thing, it's a good thing  :)

lol good call  :-[, i guess what i really ment was that at least bucket and tommy has some great music to back up their place in gn'r, both la guns and bod suck bigtime imo and i don't think he would have had anything artistic to add.... tracii is stuck in the 80's... axl is ahead of time...

when it comes to nsync touring richard i don't think he has put much of his artistic flavour into the new gn'r eighter. I even have problems hearing his parts on the boots that i have... I also think pitman has had much more to do with the sound of gn'r than fortus, fink and brain.... so in the end i guess you could replace fortus with tracii eh...

it's all about perception, I? hink LA GUNS is great while BOD sucks, I happen to think Buckethead solo work blows while Tommy is awesome .

But I think we can all agree in one thing, AXL has something in mind that is very specific, and Tracii does not fit the equation.

Axl wants a robot with superskills, not a rocker with style.

It's his vision after all.
