Title: The Cure Post by: Mr. Dick Purple on December 03, 2004, 08:18:28 AM Last Weekend I saw The Cure Icon, well I'm a great Fan of the band, but I don't think MTV shoul have made that icon to The Cure, I mean just because the band took out a new record doesnt mean that it has to be an Icon, I know The Cure is a 70 band and has inspired a lot of bands, but the rolling stone and judas priest are too and they have inspired much more bands than the cure, opinions? ???
Title: Re: The Cure Post by: Ignatius on December 03, 2004, 03:06:28 PM Is that the same show in which they did an MTV Icon Metallica and everybody was complaining because Fred Durst was a part of the show? I don't remember if he hosted or performed, but I do recall somebody here made a few comments about it.
The cure's been around for over 25 years now and their core audience is typically 5 to 10 years older than the regular MTV follower, but The cure still gets airplay on MTV. Not much I'd say, but MTV still has an audience craving for anything Cure related. And apperantly, Smith has inspired current artists such as Manson, Evanescence... RS and Judas Priests hardly get anymore MTV airplay these days. Both bands are on hiatus + they are not what you will call material for MTV. Sure both bands have inspired a lot of people, but probably not many amongst the MTV audience. On a side note. The cure is one of my favorite bands. Grab a copy of "Disintegration". Best album with AFD to come out in the 80's? : ok: Title: Re: The Cure Post by: GnFnR87 on December 03, 2004, 05:18:55 PM Disintegration is spectacular, Robert Smith is a musical genius and an amazing lyricist. The Cure deserve to be on Icon. As far as Judas Priest and the Rolling Stones, of course they do to, but the Cure definitely deserve this recognition.

Best album with AFD to come out in the 80's : ok: Yes I know is an excellent record probably my fave from tha band, I like fascination street and love song, which is a happy song made very depressive is just awsome. Disintegration is spectacular, Robert Smith is a musical genius and an amazing lyricist. The Cure deserve to be on Icon. As far as Judas Priest and the Rolling Stones, of course they do to, but the Cure definitely deserve this recognition. Yes, but I think is like too forced to be an Icon, I really think that It would better be the Rolling Stones, or even Sabbath  Title: Re: The Cure Post by: AxlsMainMan on May 18, 2008, 10:40:23 AM I've really got into this amazing band over the last couple of weeks, and was wondering if anyone could provide any suggestions as to which albums I should check out.
Right now, I only have Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, and I absolutely love it. Thank you Cure fans :) (http://img371.imageshack.us/img371/9476/cure3py1.jpg) (http://img371.imageshack.us/img371/5097/cure2xy4.png) (http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/81/cureol5.jpg) Title: Re: The Cure Post by: AdZ on May 18, 2008, 11:21:15 AM You should probably get Disintegration.
Title: Re: The Cure Post by: GnFnR87 on May 18, 2008, 01:53:04 PM You should probably get Disintegration. YES!! Wish is really good too. and Pornography. but Disintegration is just fantastic, you'll love it. Title: Re: The Cure Post by: SLCPUNK on May 18, 2008, 01:55:08 PM Right now, I only have Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, and I absolutely love it. This is my favorite album by the Cure hands down. Has been for the last 20 yrs! Like Cockatoos is my favorite on that album. Friggin beautiful. Title: Re: The Cure Post by: GnFnR87 on May 18, 2008, 01:56:43 PM im so pissed cuz i just recently got almost all their albums cuz im obsessed, but now they are remastering all them and releasing them again with b-sides etc.

Title: Re: The Cure Post by: AxlsMainMan on May 18, 2008, 08:56:53 PM Thanks for the suggestions folks, looks like I'll be doing some shopping this week ;)
Saw them last Monday. They played for like, three hours. How was the show Richard? I saw them on TV last night performing for some recent MTV thing and was blown away. Robert and Porl are wicked guitarists :) Title: Re: The Cure Post by: PJ on May 18, 2008, 09:22:42 PM im super fan
disintegration is the best album bloodflowers is very very good.. the arrangements are dark and moody but with a pop romantic twist i bought the trilogy dvd.. where they played as a goodbye show pornography, disintegration and bloodflowers and is amazing the self titled album is very good.. is more organic and songs are kinda progressive i heard the new single and is very very good.. pure pop Title: Re: The Cure Post by: SLCPUNK on May 22, 2008, 02:58:16 PM Saw them last Monday. They played for like, three hours. How was the show?? Title: Re: The Cure Post by: Ignatius on May 24, 2008, 10:05:23 AM Awesome band. Although Disinitegration is great...I must say "Wish" is my favorite album by them. Not their most praised work that's for sure, but it's so DARK and OBSCURE. I was expecting a totally different vibe, especially since it's got "Friday, Im in love", but man,... how wrong I was. Favorite songs "Letter to Elise" and the beautifully depressing "Trust". That 3 minute piano intro gets me each and every time. Title: Re: The Cure Post by: Dr. Blutarsky on May 24, 2008, 03:23:38 PM Pictures of you is probrably my favorite cure song. Admit I never go really into them, but they have several songs I really love.
( ever realize Cure is only different from Crue by reversing 2 letters? Ok, I'll stop now....) Title: Re: The Cure Post by: mrlee on May 24, 2008, 03:27:30 PM ive never actually heard them. heard of them.

Yeah, you'd probably like them. Maybe check out: Lullaby Mint Car Last Dance Just Like Heaven Lovesong The End of the World The Perfect Girl Anyways, I finally picked up a copy of Disintegration the other day, and I absolutely love it. Last Dance is probably my favorite right now, simply beautiful. Oh, and as soon as I have sufficient funds, I'll definately check out Wish :) Title: Re: The Cure Post by: GeraldFord on May 25, 2008, 03:20:46 PM ive never actually heard them. heard of them. any good? apparently robert had 12 happy songs and 12 gloomy songs and decided to releases most of the happy songs, promising to release the doom and gloom in the future. but since this album was pushed back so much who knows how long it'll take him to release the darker stuff. i've always tended to like the sadder stuff so... Title: Re: The Cure Post by: AxlsMainMan on September 22, 2008, 03:46:51 PM I love all of it.
They're probably the most diverse band I've ever heard. As for the new album, judging by the 4 singles, I'm sure it will be truly awesome :) GnFnR87, what would your all-time favorite Cure song be? I find mine is always changing, but right now I can't get enough of Disintegration. Title: Re: The Cure Post by: GnFnR87 on September 22, 2008, 04:03:02 PM I love all of it. Really love the opening one, it's hauntingly beautiful. Title: Re: The Cure Post by: kyon on October 21, 2008, 02:53:08 PM It's nice to see I'm not the only one with love for The Cure here. I saw them live in Stockholm earlier this year, and while the setlist wasn't exactly what I'd hoped for (too many surefire crowd-pleasers for my liking), it was an amazing evening.
I just wish they'd release the next batch of remastered albums (Disintegration and Wish included) already. Title: Re: The Cure Post by: AxlsMainMan on October 23, 2008, 07:58:39 PM Maybe the saddest song I've ever heard :(

Heard "Sleep when I'm dead" and really like it.
Title: Re: The Cure Post by: GnFnR87 on October 28, 2008, 05:20:11 PM i think the new album is okay, hopefully it'll grow on me.
underneath the stars, sirensong, this. here. now. with you., are all great, and i also like The Only one because it reminds of "Wish" era cure. with that being said, the rest of the songs dont do much for me. it also sucks that the song "Without You" was a b-side to the perfect boy single, yet it is better than some of the songs on the actual album!! check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_10GqCnOYjM if anyone has this song in mp3 form it would be awesome if u could send it me. all in all the album is decent, but i hope it grows on me more. still looking forward to the 12 or so gloomy songs that robert smith recorded and will hopefully release as another album in the future. Title: Re: The Cure Post by: AxlsMainMan on October 28, 2008, 06:15:26 PM I'm done class in 2 hours, probably pick up my copy on the way home.
I picked up The Head on the Door last week, and it's another killer album. Nixon, GnFnR87, how would you guys rank their catalogue? Title: Re: The Cure Post by: GeraldFord on October 28, 2008, 06:26:06 PM Disintegration (1989)

Title: Re: The Cure Post by: AxlsMainMan on November 01, 2008, 11:41:32 AM I think the first half is amazing, but it does kind of lose steam during the second half.
My favorite song right now is probably "The Hungry Ghost," it's mindblowingly good. Title: Re: The Cure Post by: GnFnR87 on November 01, 2008, 12:10:25 PM another really good B-side that should've been on the album, "down under", off the "Sleep When I'm Dead" single:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IyvFXA8ATQ&feature=related damn robert's killin' me with his song decisions lol. Title: Re: The Cure Post by: AxlsMainMan on November 01, 2008, 12:21:36 PM Might have to pick up those singles, they're only like $3.
Title: Re: The Cure Post by: GnFnR87 on November 01, 2008, 02:40:19 PM i have "down under" i'll trade with someone for "without you"
of course if you have neither i'll be nice, just PM me and i'll send you "down under" : ok: Title: Re: The Cure Post by: kyon on November 01, 2008, 04:20:49 PM By the way, unless you're a completist, avoid the Hypnagogic States EP like the plague. It's even less enjoyable than I expected.
Title: Re: The Cure Post by: AxlsMainMan on November 02, 2008, 06:47:24 PM The new album is really growing on me, what do you think of it Kyon?
Title: Re: The Cure Post by: Dot on November 02, 2008, 09:49:23 PM I got it on friday...for some reason It hasn?t grown on me all that fast, however, I can tell the high quality in it.
Title: Re: The Cure Post by: AxlsMainMan on November 03, 2008, 11:55:04 AM The last two tracks are the only ones that aren't doin' much for me.
Still can't get enough of The Hungry Ghost 8) Title: Re: The Cure Post by: Dot on November 03, 2008, 05:48:53 PM The last two tracks are the only ones that aren't doin' much for me. Still can't get enough of The Hungry Ghost 8) Funny, the last 2 tracks are, to me, two of the best while The Hungry Ghost is one of 4 tracks I still can?t get used to. It?s The Cure though and they are awesome. Title: Re: The Cure Post by: AxlsMainMan on January 19, 2009, 03:35:44 PM Happy Holidays! :hihi:

Title: Re: The Cure Post by: mrlee on September 25, 2009, 07:41:45 AM i really like there "Disintegration" album.
Very good, dark and psychedelic. Although its depressing as fuck!!! So i cant listen to it too much. I think fans of The Cures stranger darker stuff would definately like The horrors Primary Colours album. Check out the singles from that album. You should check out Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, The Head on the Door, and Wild Mood Swings if you liked Disintegration though. Title: Re: The Cure Post by: kyon on October 09, 2009, 10:08:56 PM Exciting news! The ball is finally rolling for the Disintegration remaster; it's due to be released next spring. Here's the official word: http://www.thecure.com/blog/default.aspx?nid=23104
I can hardly wait to get my paws on the 3CD deluxe edition with all the extras and, above all, enhanced sound. Title: Re: The Cure Post by: AxlsMainMan on October 11, 2009, 11:24:26 AM Indeed. The sound quality on the original CD pressing is stellar, this will be insane.
