Title: B sides to be released in the USA
Post by: mikegiuliana on November 09, 2004, 05:57:48 PM
Blabbermouth reports that Duff spoke to Launch Radio Networks about releasing a new version of 'Contraband' later this month, with an added bonus cd featuring the cover songs 'No More, No More' (Aerosmith), 'Surrender' (Cheap Trick) and 'Negative Creep' (Nirvana). The band has also recorded a cover of Queen's 'Tie Your Mother Down', but it's not sure if that one will be included. In addition to the re-issue of 'Contraband', the band are also looking to release a DVD.

Sounds good, hope the dvd happens..

Blah... Usher tactics.... I'll buy the import singles to get the B-Sides.

Are these songs really that great to put on that re-issue cd... ??

AEROSMITH's - No More No More,
CHEAP TRICK's? - Surrender,
NIRVANA's - Negative Creep,
QUEEN's - Tie Your Mother Down*

that possible concert DVD sounds more interesting...

Why don't they put those b-sides on a bonus disc with the DVD?  :P

I wish they would have put it on another disk, but it's available only overseas and it costs a ton to buy singles like that, so to buy the album again with the listed covers to me is no big deal.. If you had to buy the four covers without the album you would still be paying 12 or more dollars american with the shipping..

Anways I could give the disk to a friend who works at my gym, person really likes the album..

Absolutely! , If they really care about fans that should be the way to release those songs...Isn't that little bit sad that people needs to buy contraband two times to get those B-sides...

I agree, I wonder how much four songs would be buy themselves??I mentioned a few things above why I wouldn't mind paying for the album.. The b sides might cost the same as an album without contraband..It might be they have nothing else to offer with it besides their current album,... Maybe they just want you to buy more records?? Very possible ,b ut if it's like 12-15 bucks I don't mind because four songs on a disk would cost the same.. Also to buy these songs individually overseas to go with fall to pieces n slitehr would cost me more then 20 dollars..

Total bullshit ... I'm so glad I paid $10 for imports to get a couple of those ... God forbid they just include the songs on the album in the first place.

I hope no one buys the damn thing, but I'm sure those who bought one of each color will run right out and buy this, too.  I hope they put it out in sixteen different colors this time, so that they can get people to buy sixteen different copeis.

I don't get the big deal, lets say they didn't release it with contraband, how much would it cost to get a disk with four singles? As for why didn't they include it in the start, well who knows, maybe they hadn't covered all the songs or wanted to put 4 covers on a debut album.. Imagine how everyone would have complained if vr had one album with 4 covers?

Maybe they should have released something like lies, new songs with half covers..

I'm not disagreeing, I just figure since they were all imports for me and shipping is a fortune then what's the big deal to buy this together? 4 songs or contraband included it might cost about the same..

I'll buy it, I've already destroyed one copy by overplaying it and I'm onto the second one now,ive got a 3rd in reserve so a fourth wouldn't be that bad.

I would have preferred for them to release an EP or something along those lines instead of a new version of the album, but I'll probably get it. It will be cheaper to buy it than to import the singles considering it will be about $10 the first week its released.

Have "No More No More" or "Tie Your Mother Down" appeared as B-Sides on singles yet? They are the only ones I really would like to hear, but if I have to buy an import copy of Contraband to do so, I'll give 'em a miss (I live in Ireland).

I think the Fall to Pieces single over here has Surrender as the B-side, while Slither had Negative Creep (I think). My version of Contraband has Bodies tacked on at the end.

I wish "Bodies" was on there too since we didn't get it on the original contraband here in the states. Anyone who got the version with bodies, is it live or studio?

Bodies is live, but I think with re-recorded studio vocals. Sounds great too!

They should put Money on the disc too.

Edit - A little something about re-packaged disks:

No Love For Twista
One go-round of Twista is apparently good enough for most fans. Despite getting heat from his track with R. Kelly, "So Sexy Chapter II (Never Like This)," Twista couldn't do any better than #96 with a reissued version of his latest album, Kamikaze, which includes the track. Where most artists who reissue their most recent album with bonus tracks ? most recently Usher ? usually come close to the original's first-week position, Twista's 쟪ick-up Kamikaze came up 95 spots short.

Do you think 3 B-sides is enough to push Velvet Revolver back into the Top Ten on Billboard?

Utter bullshit.

I might just download the b-sides. Why the fuck should I have to shell out another $12 for a CD that I already have with extra songs? This is just a money making scheme and nothing else. Download the tracks and don't support this shit.

Might not be able to, it was a cover used in a movie.. I really like the song too, but I haven't heard about them playing it at the shows since the album came out..
Maybe it's like why you could be mine isn't on welcome to the videos??

I know that I can't be alone in thinking that this is just a way to fuck the fans over. "Oh sure, you bought the CD already, but we're greedy fuckers, so here it is again with four bonus tracks."

I hate when the record companies do this, because it just reeks of fucking greed. Apparently, the band is well aware of this too, and they're supporting it. Just put out a fuckin' 4 track EP with the covers on it, and sell it for $7 or somewhere around that area. It would sell. DON'T make us buy the entire cd over and make us shell out $15 for songs we already have, and a 4 song bonus EP that would sell well enough by itself.

Fucking corporate greed pisses me right the fuck off...

Yeah, I don't understand why they couldn't just release a bonus disc with the DVD with this tracklisting

01. Slither (acoustic version)
02. Bodies
03. Money
04. No More, No More
05. Money
06. Tie Your Mother Down
07. Surrender

Duff and the VR boys love to fuck their fans in the ASS. Remember the 3 different stupid color sleeves they put on their cds.. Oh we did it for the fans! Did what made some hardcore fans buy 3 of the same album to help boost sales? Now instead of releasing your covers on a cheap disc by themselfs or as a bonus on a DVD, you are attaching them to Contrband to make your fans buy ANOTHER copy of your record. Trying to bully your way to being Double Platinum?

But with that being said I want the covers and I am gonna be stupid and buy a 3rd cd.

I just dont get this...

You bitch about fans getting "raped," and run out and buy 3 copies?

I bought one album, because thats all I need.  As a result, I got to choose which color sleeve I wanted.  Thats it.  If I wanted to buy the other colors, I had that choice.  Therefore, no rape has taken place.

Yes, this is a marketing ploy.  The new tracks are more of an incentive for those who havent bought the album..but if those who did buy the album want to buy another one to get the tracks, again, they have that choice.  All you have to do is say "no thanks."

Bouth the bonus CD today.  No More, No More is focking awesome and is worth the purchase.  It is the old Slash we are used to and his solo is bad ass.  It is like two minutes long.  Weiland's voice is so versatile.  He goes from Steven Tyler to Kurt Cobain.  Pretty crazy.

Me too, I bought it at best buy for 13.99, no more no more has a long ass solo, slash sounds killer, as does scott on surrender...

That would be cool w/ a dvd also. And they could add live versions of Mr. Brownstone, Sex Type Thing, It's So Easy, Used to Love Her, Sucker Train Blues, and Fall to Pieces.  Man I sound greedy now.

I wonder if iTunes is planning on having the Contraband re-release that includes the B-sides ? If so, I'll probably just download the songs there.
